    Why is it always cold and dark when I'm coding ?
    Think I made a small mistake in the TAL processing, I shouldn't have clicked Read VIN. I believe if I'd left it alone then it would have worked fine.
    Never mind, it's done now.

    Hi, I've flashed all my modules except the DME as I have a remap. Is there any way to back the map up before flashing ?

      +Mr. Nonayabizniz no worries bud. I'm not 100% sure it's actually flashed them though as I found I had a hole in a piston after this and it was that causing the rough idle.

    Could you please tell if you required to synchronize your EWS when you update your DME?

    Did this fix your idle issue? How did you validate that the dme was updated?

      +Tino Hall unfortunately not, I found out after that my rough idle was due to a faulty injector and a hole in piston number 6.
      I'm still repairing it, but will be revisiting the DME when it's all back together.
      have you got a rough idle too?

    Thanks for this great video may I ask you what is the difference between flashing with ISTA+ and Esys? I know that ISTA requires icom, but what are the pros and cons between both?

      Thanks for the kind words! I honestly don't know the answer to your question. My version of ISTA doesn't work for programming at the moment.
      I'd like to know too, maybe I'll look into sorting ISTA out (think I ran out of disk space).

      Yeah I'm owning a F10 525D from 2012 and gathering information if it worth to flash it with a new DDE firmware since my car never received an update. Is there any gain by updating

      @@roningumi personally I wouldn't bother flashing it unless there are problems. I'm a big fan of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". You could potentially create other issues by flashing it with newer software.
      Are you just looking to make sure the car is up to date?

      E-Sys is more specific for coding and flashing SPECIFIC ECUs (as well as their dependencies). ISTA is more user friendly and does an ENTIRE flashing of all modules.

    how did it work and flashing after you got that error when you start flashing?

      +Rana Najdawi Hiya, it flashed but I don't think it's put it back to standard tune. Unfortunately the lumpy idle continued and on further investigation I found a problem with the piston in cylinder 6.
      Checkout the engine teardown, I've just managed to get the offending piston out. Got to rebuild it now and then get back to the DME to make sure I have the standard tune on it.
      Are you trying to flash your DME?

    This procedure is the same to program DME new or used?

      +jonathan Brito it's the original DME, I think if you have a replacement there are a few other steps you need to do? I'm not sure. Are you replacing yours?

    Hi. Glad you managed to flash the dme, should of used the Ista+ you have, easier IMO in expert mode.
    Cold start doesn’t seem to have come back, mine idles around 1500rpm on cold start.

      +b21playa Its definitely better but there's something else going on, it nearly stabilised around 1000rpm but felt like it was missing on one cylinder. still no codes though? More investigating planned for tomorrow.

      @@RichsRides might be worth looking at o2 sensors. If I recall correctly there’s a test plan for it

      @@b21playa I'm sure there is, also going to test injectors to see if any are bad!
      First step is pull the plugs and see what they look like, then stick a camera into cylinder to have a look at walls and pistons, then compression test to see if I've got a mechanical problem. I haven't got a leak down tester but I don't think they cost much and I'm sure if use it again in the future, depending on compression test results I'll think about that.
      In hindsight if I was being sensible I should've done a compression test before I reassembled everything.

      @@RichsRides Well if you intended to flash a newer software to the DME, I think you need to tick the software deploy box at the end. Look carefully, just before launching the flash.

      @@olivergriz6768 oh I see what you mean. I'm pretty sure the option was greyed out, so I couldn't select it. You've got me thinking now, will have to review what I did.

    Disconnect you battery heads + and - for 30 minutes and your ecus gets back to factory settings

      @@RichsRides I use E-Sys. You only updated the encoding (cdDeploy) not swDeploy which actually updates the software.

      @@fahimb5876 hmmm, I'll have to have another look at that then. Engine is in pieces at the moment. I might give you a shout when it's back together, want the DMEs to run std tune.

      @@RichsRides Sure mate 👍 There could be a few reasons why it didn't let you click swDeploy. Couple of the reasons could be your psdzdata matches what the car has been already flashed to or the car software is newer. There are ways around that though 😉
