  • @biglabrador

If there was a Nobel Prize for explanation of exercise/movement dessription, you would deserve it Mike. Thank you for the valuable info. The problem you describe with the overly tensed movement execution by some people may stem from trying to adhere to the constant tension principle - some may take it too literally and stay, well, tensed over the whole movement execution. You are absolutely right saying that the way people train translates into how they move in- and outside the gym. Hence my question - should we relax a muscle at the bottom portion of a rep, be it the negative portion of a curl, a press, a row or a pull? For example - should one extend the arms fully when doing curls, or should one keep constant tention and keep a slight bend at the bottom?

I like shrugging in between pulleys with d handles for this reason. I first set the pulleys a little lower than shoulder height. Walk back so my arms can fully extend and still have pressure. Then, using scapula and traps, shrug straight back and slightly up. Can do additions sets with the pulleys at lower positions too.

I don’t work traps as much as I should, but technically speaking, they get worked when I’m picking up heavy dumbbells that ima use to chest press, but when walking to my bench I keep my shoulders up and hold it for those few seconds on my way to the bench and back to the rack where they go. I’ve Been learning a lot from your workouts, like the rear delt cable you’ve done, and man that really kills it, as in i feel it working. Love your content, you’re a cool a$$ dude who keeps it real!
