“I’d rather educate the next slayer sword winner, than do stuff that keeps people around.” And that is EXACTLY the reason I keep coming back to your channel.

Man as someone who just finished a 2000 point deathwatch army I get this feeling.

good chance thats just a crutch you have mentally developed to avoid something you cant handle like batch painting
if you can identify that block, you can find a better way around it and get finished armies then start new ones , which feels so much better
for me it was batch painting, i switched to doing 1-3 models at a time during painting, the leaps in progress kept me inspired as each session always saw at least 1 model finished

nice how you show of what army painting probably actually looks like for most people. A long learning process with probably a lot of experiments, improvements and oddities along the way. and most of all; varying sources of minis

Well done Scott. Awesome work. Completing any project is never trivial. 10 man warband for a skirmish game, 200 model fantasy army or a single mini entry for a painting competition; all are achievements to be rightly proud of.

Great work! I have a wall of potential/shame that I am hoping to get cracking on. I have always struggled with the perfectionist in me for how many of the details truly need to be painted. I won't say that that watching you on twitch has solved that for me, but it has helped.
I really appreciate all that you contribute to this hobby, thank you!

  • @tuskam

Awesome! I have the same proxy planned and the models are awesome, but same as you I'm struggling with the supports and print fails. I'll be probably painting the a little bit darker but this really motivated me to finish it!

Finishing an army is a huge accomplishment and puts you into a new category: someone who has finished an army.
The reason so many people haven't finished their armies is because to many it feels out of reach, they've never done it so they don't believe that they can. They've been working on their army soo long it feels like an impossible task and the thought of finishing a second army is a fever dream.
I expect now that you are someone who has finished an army you will find your ability to focus on a single project until it is complete improves. You know you can do it.
I hope your video inspires other people to finish their own armies.

Great job, bro. Army painting is its own classification of skill and the gratifying sense of completion is truly addictive especially for those of us who are more gaming centric of the hobby to rock an event with a newly finished army for a competitive season or two...or just even to tilt friends at the gaming table.

  • @oscarnurmi8082
    @oscarnurmi8082 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This made me genuinely happy for you Scott! Good job.
I remember when i painted my first army ( death guard ) and all those things that you said about knowing how much ballsack to put into each mini when army painting is ringing very true.
One should not underestimate how good a decently painted number of models next to each other look.

  • @colourful_soldiers

Great work, Scott. It’s great to achieve that hobby dream. And I think it’s even cooler to set an example that it’s never too late to unlock an achievement.
Too many folks are stuck with half done projects and feel like it’s a missed opportunity instead of realizing they just needed to paint vampires instead.

Congratulations on the achievement. I painted 4 army's and my dark angel arm is always growing I learnt alot for TH-camrs such as you and John and one the main things I taken away was the fact of the minis are on a table 4-5 ft away not a few inches from my face so this allows me to be a little sloppy but when the arms on the table boy do they look good. So well done. Ps love the fact you still have the Pokémon water pot it's a throw back to your early days

Great job and a lot of props for finishing that army , Scott. You got me inspired to start my own Soulblight gravelords Army and leeching some of that big boy finished army energy. I hope I can keep going strong. I know the feeling of having a finished army, as I had some WHFB armies myself.
I can't wait for the recap of the "Northern Conquerors" and hope there will be a season 2. That stuff keeps me entertained while I bingewatch it on the backlog channel during painting sessions

With oil washes, I find that using a bit of white spirit on a brush can be a nice way of cleaning up which leaves the layers of acrylic paint pretty safe, and can be a bit more precise than using a q-tip
