I apologize for my lack of attention to the informality of eating pizza in a place of worship, and I will surely be more mindful next time I have an organ appointment that aligns with lunch time. As for the turbulence of the "camera/photo apparatus", here is the same video, but with the turbulent bits cut out so that you can enjoy without "headaches" th-cam.com/video/bJgucb_aQiA/w-d-xo.html

If the worst thing that you did was eat pizza inside the church sanctuary I would call that a success. People need to follow the example of Christ and forgive and spread his love to everyone. Actually that’s not an example but a command that Christ gave us. When we berate a young person for bringing a food item into a church and then continue to make negative comments, that’s not forgiving or spreading Christ’s love. At a time when fewer and fewer young people are going to church I would be careful about being too critical over what some might consider a trivial lapse of judgement. Considering some of the things that have went on in some of our churches in recent years I do think that someone carrying in a slice of pizza is trivial. The young man has apologized so I can assure everyone that if God was offended, it has been forgiven and forgotten.

What an amazing organ in a fabulous acoustic. The French voicing is just awesome and so was the playing by Daniel Carroll - what a rising star! You look to have had a great visit, Charles, though after such a 'beefy' instrument . . . sushi would fail to satisfy my hunger pangs! Bravo!

Keep the camera steady please although I read that this is the movement-edited (for the better) version. But, diziness aside, the gentleman in the blue shirt was enjoying himself as much as I enjoyed listening to the organ's capacity through his hands and feet and then came along another blue (Tshirt) individual who also knew what he was doing. The organ's place in the future seems assured.

@@organist1982that is such a shame too. I dislike most contemporary music but not all. I attended cedar springs Presbyterian church on occasion when I was a student at UT, Knoxville. They had switched to mostly contemporary back then in the early 2000’s. They have a praise band every Sunday for their worship services. Behind the praise band and the choir is a 86 rank schantz pipe organ. The sanctuary is square in shape with a balcony that wraps around 3 sides of the sanctuary. In the back corners where the balconies meet to wrap around the back of the sanctuary, there are two antiphonal divisions of pipes, one division in each corner. I used to sit in the front row of the balcony so that I could literally see the pipes just over the railing in front of me. Anyway, they play their pipe organ every single Sunday along with their praise band. The sound of the pipes blending with the contemporary instruments and percussion is actually quite beautiful and adds a great deal of power. I find it very encouraging that, instead of abandoning their organ or completely removing it upon adopting a contemporary worship style, they instead have embraced using the pipe organ and pay for the upkeep of the instrument. It is very possible to use a pipe organ with contemporary instruments and music. Several years ago I saw where a church had their pipe organ listed for sale. It had been installed in 2005 (or near that year) and then in 2016 they switched over to contemporary worship. The organ was simply turned off and left in the chambers unplayed and then listed for sale. My problem with that is this. Many people have given money to have that organ built and installed. It’s not uncommon for one person or a few individuals to donate the vast majority of the money towards the purchase of a pipe organ. I think it is a slap in the face to those people to simply trash an instrument that they donated a lot of money towards. I fear that the trend will continue in most locations.

Actually, Cavaille-Coll preferred to have the Grand Orgue be the middle manual on 3-manual instruments due to how much more complex the mechanics had to be when having the Positif be the middle manual, but the organists of the day usually requested the reverse, with the G.O. on the bottom. There's one C-C organ, however, where he was able to install it the way he wanted, with the G.O. manual in the middle, because there was no high-profile organist demanding the reverse! I learned this from Fugue State Films' DVD documentary about Cavaille-Coll.

I'm not sure whether or not you are familiar with the beliefs of Catholics (and Orthodox) - but The King of Kings and Lord of Lords is truly and substantially present in their Sacrament: in this church, He is there in the Tabernacle near that little lamp in the Sanctuary. His churches are for prayer and holy things: nothing profane in His presence. Read the text of the great hymn "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence." That's the proper disposition when entering Catholic and Orthodox churches. There are places for eating and witty banter - but His temple is not that place. Thank you for demonstrating the organ nonetheless.
