  • How to Fix MG Rover Heater Fan - speeds 1 & 2. A very common fault this one, that is easily fixed. On older cars the heater fan speeds one and two often fail, due to the resistors burning out. This applies to most of the MG Rover cars of the 90's and 2000's so Rover 200, 25, 45, 400, MG ZR, ZS, MGF and MGTF.
    Buy three bigger resistors of value 0.68 ohm and wattage 10 watts, from eBay or an electronics store. Or you could try here (UK) amzn.to/28RyH3g. Or (USA) amzn.to/28RW4Pd
    UPDATE! New complete resistor unit:
    On amazon: amzn.to/2NWRZtH
    On ebay: bit.ly/2oJRbNs
    Most of the video here is an MG ZR, apart from the MG TF at the start but it is similar for all models. The MG TF took marginally longer due to the slightly more hidden location of the resistor pack. You need to remove a short vent pipe as well as the glovebox cover on that car.

    Hi, you knowledge in the M47r engine is outstanding, and videos on this are easy to follow! We have the MG ZT-T 2.0l ...in the next few days I will be doing the crank filter to see if that corrects our issue ...on acceleration the engine is hesitant, and on slowing down to a stop, the revs drop to almost stall, engine shakes and then goes back to normal idle! ...if I take of pipe to intercooler off, it drips oil ...I'm guessing either turbo oil seals or oil breather blocked! ...I see the Autel ob2 is not available now! ...thanks again for your video 🤘🤘🤘

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, hopefully it’s just the breather doing that, it was on mine. You should really clean out the intercooler afterwards. Also check the HP fuel rail sensor voltage and the turbo boost pressure (you could just measure the MAP voltage or install a pressure gauge). I have lots of videos covering those and others.

      And I updated the autel buying links to an equivalent model, thanks for pointing that out.

      Thank you for your prompt reply ...I ordered a new Maf unit, but it was before I saw you video, and it's a Bosch one 🙄🙄 ...being a D3 & D4 owner, not mutch knowledge on the M47 engine, so as for your suggestions I will search out your videos for this, especially the pressure gauge! ...I a member of the Rover and MG FB group, your info would be so valuable in their! ...the priority job now is the clutch, just got from Borg & Beck the single mass conversation clutch, not into the dual mass efforts! ...I will let you know the results of the breather change, and again, thank you for your help ...Regards Norm's

    Thanks for sharing your video great information and helpful to me to fix my dad's heater for him. I've got starting problems with the car too, no fuel & no spark due to standing for a couple of years in the garage
    I wondered if you had any videos of a similar problem 🤞
    Thanks

      Thanks. No video but a couple of thougths - is the remote fob working ok? Change it’s battery and press several times to sync it to car if not, as it sounds like the imobiliser is on.

    Something I've found after fixing resistor packs in several Rovers is it is worth checking the cabin/pollen filter, nearly all the filters were completely blocked. I have wondered if a choked filter restricts the airflow over the resistors causing them to overheat and burnout.

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a possibility, but I would guess the drop in air flow would become noticeable.

    Hello there deom portugal. Great help you gave me, now its fixed eheh. Just a question how do i replace /fix the clock? working but no light, can’t see at night and i cannot figure out how to pull the clock.. thanks for your time.👍🏻

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clock surround is removed by putting a small flat screwdriver blade into a halfway position on the top of the clock surround to release the clip holding the surround in place and lever it off. With that removed you can then see some screws to undo and remove the clock module. It is possible to change the light bulb in the unit by further dismantling. My son did this on his and replaced with an led.

    Nice video, the multi plug connector, does this just pull off or is there a clip to release. I'm struggling to get this off and can't see a release clip/button. Maybe it's just stiff and I need to get on the weights?

    • @comeinhandynow
      @comeinhandynow  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there is a bit on the side of the connector to squeeze (see video at about 1:54). While squeezing, pull up and maybe wiggle a bit.

    Lol I can't believe this is such common problem

    • @philipscott1128
      @philipscott1128 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reinis Miks I don't understand why Rover continued to use these coil resistors. Surely ceramic resistors were inexpensive and freely available in the early 2000s'.
      I think that every Rover my family has ever owned has suffered with this problem!
