How to drive for best fuel efficiency in city driving :
Engage ECO mode
Don't use ventilation if not needed
Prefer seat warmer if possible
Only use AC if needed
Don't put air blow too strong
Don't put air temperature too high or too low
Go quickly to the required road speed limit by going to the end of the ECO bar
Try to stay between the CHARGE line and first half of the ECO bar to engage EV mode.
Try not go over the ECO bar (PWR mode).
Try not to deplete the battery by voluntarily using the manual EV mode for too long.
Try to anticipate road traffic (ex : slightly press the brake pedal in order to regen instead of pressing too hard, engaging the brakes)
Prefer coasting or gliding (by staying in first half of ECO) than big accelerations and brutal braking.
Avoid turning the engine on and off too often.
Make the required car services on time.
Don't use big rims.
Use fuel efficiency friendly tires.
Always check tires are well inflated.
Don't keep unneeded heavy or non aerodynamic stuff in or on the car.

This was an exceptional well done review, thank you very much!!
Jimmy thank you very much.
I appreciate that 😀
What a great review, thank you. Traded my CHR 1.2 Turbo CVT in for one of these today, picking up next week. Yes a downsize but saving money👍
Hello and thanks to you :)
I m sure you'll like it. If driven carefully we indeed can have good numbers in terms of consumption.
Yeah nice video. You pretty much explained all and how to drive it, so a big thumbs up for you 👍. There's not many videos showing how it really feels like driving a hybrid. I also have a Auris TS and I've seen it charging the battery completely when going downhill for a long time... But yeah that happens not that often ;-) . Also if you do more city driving I'm sure that fuel consumption will be less. Take care !
Thank you for your feedback. Greatly appreciated :)
Yes you have to drive it more to have better fuel efficiency overtime.
I v got also a Yaris TS Kompressor. Those TS are always fun to drive :)
@@funcarreviews kompresor ? It has a turbo ? Here where I live Toyota doesn't sell cars with turbos.... Except for the Land Cruiser or some industrial vehicles. Here they only sell hybrids, except for the Yaris 1.0 petrol engine and the Aygo. Not to mention the bigger beasts. Corolla, Yaris, ch-r, RAV4... All hybrids. And not not any of them.
@@marcofreitas5321 There was a 2001 Toyota Yaris TS turbo (Swiss, Bemani Edition)of around 160 or 180 HP.
My Yaris is a 2009 TS Swiss edition (from Bemani too) with a compressor (different from a turbo) which has 215 HP :) lots of fun with it.
I have some videos on my channel about it
@@funcarreviews ok thanks I'll check it :)
You're right about the turning radius. I believe that the 15" alloy wheels have a much lower turning radius than the 16" ones. Curiously , I don't think I've ever seen heated seats on this version of the Yaris in the UK.
Thank you for your feedback :)
Indeed the options might differ between countries 😊
Excellent explanation and POV - thank you 😄
Thank you very much :)
Very very analytical and helpful! Thanks. What's the average consumption outside city?? Also how many kilometres can you cover with EV MODE with fully charged battery?
Glad you enjoyed it 😀. Well full EV is not much. Lets say around 2-3KM. But there are some restrictions as described. You can’t force full EV manually after 30 or 40 KM/h. But it can automatically engage EV mode at least up to 60Km/h. So you do save gasoline. I don’t remember the consumption for highways. It will be more like a normal car as EV might help but will never work alone with those speeds.
City consumption is around 4 to 5 L/Km in summer.
Keep in mind as it is a standard hybrid car, you cannot really Fully charge it.
@@funcarreviews thanks a lot. I bought the car and i am waiting to receive it next week.. It is an "active plus" edition. Did it had any problems at all until now?
Thomàs der jünger so far no problem. But I ll make soon a video review of this car with the good, the bad... 🤗
If you haven’t seen it : th-cam.com/video/cPokGJkMb0s/w-d-xo.html the complete review :)
How much dii I es it cost to fill tank with petrol. How many days does it last city driving. How many miles covered one tank city miles. On one tank of fuel £40 in UK on city driving in 15L petrol manual 2018 it lasts me 11 days at 330 miles covered. This is with AC on. Great review
Hello,
Thank for your comment :)
We are around 50 CHF to fill the tank and we do around 550 KM of drive. We can go up to almost 600 sometimes if we drive as eco as possible. I can see that we are quite close to each other with those stats. That's interesting.
Fun Car Reviews Same. Thanks
I get 370 miles now from £39 gas fill up. Now AC is off. It is 1.5L with 110bhp after all. I was comparing before to 1.2 67 bhp fiat with no AC
@@watchfan6180 Aha it seems mine consumes a bit more after all.
Informative.
Thank you 🤗
2 questions:
1. can you set speed limiter so that you cannot be able to go more than that?
2. can you add cruise control to all 2017 yaris hybrid? because i see some of them doesnt have that.
thank you
Hello,
No speed limiter unfortunately.
Addind cruise control, i am not sure that is possible afterwards. It has to come with the car when bought.
:)
15 inch indeed ,they has 1 mtr 3 ft less turning circle
Thanks a lot to share the information. It helps me a lot. :)
I have a same model car, but it does not have GPS navigation. How can I install it?
Hello, thanks to you and you are welcome 🤗.
You ll have to check with your dealer if it s possible to install it. I wouldn’t know myself.
I currently have 2016 Ford Fiesta. Planning to gift it for my sister and buying my self a 2017 Yaris hybrid.
Can you give any feedback after driving it for a while? Thank you.
Also is it true Yaris doesn't have one touch 3 blink turn signal? Don't want to be that guy who doesn't use turn signals, but that could be annoying :))
Hello,
We still love the car. Quite practical, very good looking and reliable. I don't find the turn radius that good for a city car though. But it does have a good consumption. And if i am not mistaken, it's only a 1 blink system unfortunately.
if you havent seen it, i suggest to you this video i did, maybe it will help you and of course, get back to me if you want to :

@@funcarreviews thank you! I will watch it later tonight
Please what is the full tank range of this car?
Hello, usually we make around 550 KM. 😊
Does the car self locks the doors when you start driving??
Hello,
No it does not 😅😬
Shame. Thanks for replying Sir!
You are welcome :)
Wait is this the average consumption on simple gasoline of 95 octane? 5.5? Toyota advertises like 3.5-4 but I guess that was a lie! So is it worth it to get this while the standard gasoline model (no hybrid) has a consumption of about 6.5?
I'm thinking of buying this car so as to save money from fuel consumption because the price of a liter is at about 1.4 in my country right now. But 5.5 is not a big difference to 6.5.....
Thanks! Nice video!
Yes we are on a 95. The fuel consumption is higher in cold temperature (which was the case here). I usually have 5 l/100KM when looking at the statistics of the car (since last refuel).
I m around 550 KM of range with a fuel tank of 36 L.
A lot of time when driving in the city only, i'm around 3.5 to 4.5. It really depends on your road conditions too and driving style.
By the way, the values are often non realistic at all. Although with the new standard, they are more close to real values than with the old standard, it will never be close to the reality. They make the tests in extremely good conditions, that a real user might never have.
@@funcarreviews yeah I guessed so. I move into the city mostly with a lot of starts and stops so that's why i'm looking for a car like this but I can't figure it out if it's worth it or not the extra 2.000 that it's sold in my country. It's at about 16.000 euros right now whereas the "active" gasoline model is at about 14.000. I won't be paying extra "road taxes" for it but the insurance is a bit more expensive here for a hybrid. I have to calculate everything and see if it will be worth it in 10 years that I will have to buy new batteries for a couple of thousand euros.
This is a hard calculation that's for sure. Having a hybrid is also more of state of mind. Polluting less (locally), making some fuel economies. Funny it's more expensive (maybe because more powerful that the normal one ?).
Batteries should have a warranty longer than the car, but battery degradation is a real thing. I wouldn't be of a real help here as this is very personal.
If you are interested, i have done a full review of this car (the good and the bad) :th-cam.com/video/cPokGJkMb0s/w-d-xo.html
and also one on hybrid thought sharing : th-cam.com/video/Mil8KhFPZyU/w-d-xo.html
@@aldariel744 absolutely go for Hybrid, much better car. Also better suspension and quieter ride most of the time.
I want a Toyota vitz hybrid Japanese model startup and test drive video
Ali Sofwan well this is the one. ;)
I have this toyota yaris! Hybrid

Man, the rosary on the wheel stick. Where are you from?
Daniele Maccari hello. I am not sure what you mean. Have I said something incorrect ? From Switzerland
😆
@@funcarreviews He is surprised you have a rosary in your car and enquires as to your country of residence 🙂
@@stevehay964 Aha yeah, from Switzerland 😃
I have the same car. Great car but cant get it to run lower than 6 lt/ 100 kilometres. Any tips?
Hello,
We are now at around 5L/100 KM with those 20 degrees Celsius temperature (temperature affects consumption).
Unfortunately I have no more tips than what is given in the video description. Where you able to follow some of them and you still have 6L ? (6 is not that bad either).
@@funcarreviews i managed to get it around 4,5 driving without sudden acceleration. I only have a question. Have you noticed a spike on consumption when driving uphill? I think that it lacks torque
Great :). Actually when possible you should always stay below the end of the eco bar when accelerating to reach your speed. Then You should glide in EV by staying between the charge line and first half of the Eco zone.
Going uphill will always have a big toll on consumption in any cars. In my Audi A3 e-tron, uphilling is a battery / range killer. Same for my fuel consumption. Also to improve, I do not use ventilation and use ECO mode. 4.5 is great.
But keep in mind that in winter, cold temperatures will higher your consumption a bit, not only because you ll use heat, but because it s not that good for the battery and the engine must stay a bit warm, so it has to engage sometimes.
@@funcarreviews Thanks for your response! I will apply your tips on my driving!
I don't understand, you drive very nice but has so bad fuel consumption. I bought new Yaris gen 3 about 2 weeks ago, with 27 L of gasoline and same driving like you I can do 630 km. Seems like mine is tuned :) . Average consumption after 1300 km is 4.2 I/100km . 10 percent highway, 60 percent country road and 30 city.
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
You do have nice numbers. I am not that far in terms of l/100. But we usually don't go after 600 KM. I did not really force it neither aha.
630 KM is just great. Also this video was done with low temperature. It does affect the consumption negatively a bit too. What temperature is it where you live ?
Papa 🎺
Mmm
I decided to not buy this car at this point 36:07

Low horse power ? Or CVT noise
@@funcarreviews noise isn't a problem, the lack of power, In AUS cars need jump from 80 to 100 in around 1.5 sec. I'll test the 2020 model lets see. Nice review.

Thank you for your comment. I m trying to be exhaustive for the viewers/subscribers :)
Yes if you are an everyday highway driver, it will not be the best choice.
It s ok for the occasional highway situation.
