I drive a full-hybrid car for a last few months and I've learned how to use the electric motor advantage but I didn't hear that advice in the film. The biggest fuel consumption the engine has during the acceleration, so you need to learn how to accelerate efficiently. Depending on the traffic condition, you should either use only the electric power (in the heavy traffic when you creep in the jam it's doable) or shorten the acceleration time, which means you speed up quite dynamically using the petrol engine, reaching the cruising speed and then you release the throttle till your car switches to EV engine. You can cruise then on the electric engine using only its minimum power to keep the desired speed. You will get much better fuel consumption results in comparison with accelerating slowly with the less horsepower. Of course when you drive a motorway you can't use only the electric engine cause it doesn't generate enough power, but within a build-up area or on a calm country road this method will give you real savings.
In my old Non-Hybrid Yaris I used to get just about 50 mpg on average if I was lucky but now I am near 70mpg. I am also a very much more relaxed driver than I was.
I'm getting about 64mpg indicated on the display. I doubt that's very accurate though.
I thought it was just me - I'm less anxious now with a hybrid!
@tectoramia-sz1lu you think the display is too high?
My parents have the non hybrid yaris. It's clutch and gearing feels like from a racing car after driving our Auris hybrid. Eco-mode makes the gas pedal way less jumpy. Driving becomes more relaxed.
Just bought a Yaris Hybrid and am very pleased with the hybrid system. Went for the gear stick (habit) a few times, but after day two I've become used to the automatic system.
This is my fourth Toyota .I love them ….thank you
In January this year, I switched from one of the 2017 Yaris’s to the current Yaris model. It’s a lot better overall, both in performance and noise level, and efficiency. One of the features in the new one is the type of tyre in use - it has a lower rolling resistance than the previous one. I think that is one of the most important factors at moderate speed in any car when it comes to reducing the fuel required.
One of the other features that you haven’t mentioned in this production that can be useful to maintain fuel efficiency is the Assisted Cruise Control (ACC) using it’s radar device; I often use that, and there are many parts of a journey that the engine does not run at all, even at 60 - 70 mph on falling gradients, or when catching up on something slower ahead etc.
We drive our Rav4 in "Eco" mode 100% of the time and I don't understand why people say it "sacrifices performance." The car is faster than it needs to be even in "eco.".
I have Corolla Hybrid 2024 and it delivers 70 MPG in city
i got a 2020, and i love it
A 1997 Prius with Ni-Mh battery (in my country) changes to gasoline mode only if the battery exceeds 45.0 degrees C (113 F). This happens if your trip has a lot of regenerative breaking. It changes to gasoline mode also if you reach 70% full battery (unless it is still quite cold). I use the App Hybrid Assistant with a quality ODBCII to monitor the battery and I am getting and extra 200 km (120miles) for each tank compare to before. This is highly dependent on the kind of route I take.
NIce. I would appreciate to get some tips how to reduce rpm while driving in our corolla hybrid 1,8 2021. Not for saving money, but to reduce noise, if possible.
Oh wow so great 👍 and very beautiful 🤩❤️ and very good design with the new 🆕 technology for the new 🆕 generation hument very easy to drive and comfortable ❤
Since january this year i have a Yaris Hybrid.
Fantastic car.
Just one question, on the neutral gear, when i should use it?
(If i go to a tunnel car wash, I should use it, right? Like in the manual transmission... sorry for the silly question, it's my first automated transmission :) )
Hi I just bought a 2020 vitz hybrid do u have a video explaining all of the features and what all the buttons on the dash board does because my operating manual is in Chinese only
I have a toyota chr excel model and use mainly in eco mode, the onboard computer says i get between 60 to 80mpg but in reality when i fill up which i do on a weekly basis and work out how much ive used in reality its aprox 50mpg so the onboard computer is way off in what its stating
My new corolla is a bit of a pain. A blues screen comes up every time I turn the engine on and i have to accept 2 boxes and then OK before the screen disappears, why.
Also on my old Auris I had a readout of actual mpg all the while, I have not managed to be able to get that on the screen and can only find mpg on a graphical screen for each journey. The alternative is an average value which is rubbish when you want to see how well you are driving.
Otherwise its a lot quieter, I have tried out some of the anti collision features to see if they work, and they do. I had a tx come through the other day while driving and could not hear what the tx said even though it was reading it back.
All the above will be investigated over the next week or so.
I booked this car Toyota C-HR vx hybrid in Dubai will be getting in 2 weeks insha'Allah 🎉
I am new Toyota rav4 hybrid owner and have question.
I can set RSA function in the mode to give me just visual warnings, but every time I start the car rsa is in the visual and sound mode. I can set visual mode until I turn the car off.
Toyota hybrid system is very impressive im driving in normal mode with ac getting nearly 70 mpg have had high 80s a few times very smooth seamlessly builds up speed very easily wouldn't go back to petrol or diesel again
Fantastic, thank you for sharing Barry. Which model are you enjoying?
I get 70mpg plus most of the time in my corolla tourer and I'm very happy with it. The worst thing about it is the sat nav, which is a shame as the one on my avensis was brilliant. Take care in rural areas especially, it will take you off a nice A road onto single track barely roads with grass growing in the middle! There used to be a fastest v shortest route setting, not any more. Plan ahead or use Google maps instead!
I can't tell you how many times Google has led me down the road of no return so don't feel bad most of time they are pretty good!
which is fuel efficient eco or ev?
Please tell me what gear to use when going uphill. Mode B is for going downhill

I believe the Tiger tanks during WWII had hybrid power units.
I think there TIGER tanks used Deutz Air cooled engines, Maybe Diesel, I don't know? I can tell you the 5 cylinder Deutz Diesel engine is fantastic and is totally KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID, or IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON"T FIX IT, simple minds and Common Sense are all that is required?
Would hou please be kind enough to calarify: to maximise battery charge should I drive permanently in B mode, even on the motorway? If not, when should I engage B mode?
Good afternoon, David. We'll come back to you on this. Please may we clarify what car you drive? Thanks.
@@toyotauk 4th gen Yaris Design variant
Hi David, thanks for your patience. B mode allows the engine to be used as a brake, therefore not the best way to maintain battery condition and charge. The regenerative functions of the system are effectively switched off in this mode. The optimum mode for battery charging is D. More info on this can be found in the online Owners Manual: www.toyota.co.uk/customer/manuals We hope this helps, thank you.
B mode is only for going down steep hills, for extra braking . D mode for everything else.
Can I change the 12 volt battery in my boot of 2016 Auris or does it have to be done by a garage ? Do things need resetting or does it do automatically
Please tell me which mode use at toyota rav4 Hybrid 2023: eco or normal? Thanks
From what I've heard, Eco mode will make the vehicle even more fuel efficient, but the trade-off is that it will accelerate a bit slower than usual. It's good for city driving. You might want to be in Normal or Sport mode when overtaking vehicles on the highway.
Eco mode also affects the working of the climate control a bit negative to save energy
What about toyota sienta hybrid 2017,how do I drive it for better fuel consumption

A spare wheel would be nice to see in the boot! I suppose the lack of one is for economy reasons and not saving money??
I would like to get rid of the spare tyre 😂
I’ve got my GR C-HR 2022 model this week, however it doesn’t come with wireless Apple CarPlay? I have to connect with USB before I can use it, is this true?
Hi Penny, please provide your vehicle registration so we can check this for you. Thanks.
Hi Penny, that is correct. This vehicle comes with wired Apple CarPlay. Thanks.
Can I upgrade my in-car navigation system?
@@kittyfok1907 want to know as well
Is it okay to switch mode while the car is moving like your in sport mode then change to normal mode?
Yes. 👍 Are you enjoying a Toyota C-HR, Joms?
I just bought a 2023 Toyota RAV Hybrid.
Good thing, I didn’t have to wait 8 to 10 months like other people did.
It was already on order, the other person couldn’t buy it over his/her credit check.
The bad part was, I didn’t get a chance to test drive before driving it.
Another bad part, I keep bumping my head on the a pillar getting in.
The only good part it only had 7 miles on the original odometer.
Get a custom racing chair and save your brains?
The fuel economy on my Toyota Yaris excel isn’t as good as I thought it would be I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
Hard to say without seeing you drive, but remember most models as far as I know can EV at highway speeds up to around 60 in my experience (with my Prius 2019)
So going 50 I release pedal and quickly apply just a little bit, and engine turns off and keeps me at 50 using electric.
Coast as much as you can, plan driving. Never be the first one to the intersection. If you see red light, start coasting long before, if done 100% you won't even stop for the light.

Don’t be like me I like the sport + of my Lexus 450H and drive 80+mph every chance I get, it’s a performance/luxury car with best seats and breaks out there. I have personally owned 7 BMWs they ride like crap and cost tons to fix. 76+k miles change oil 5,000 miles and filters (engine, cabin, as recommended). Tire inflation is VERY important pump them to factory specks check often when weather changes. Yes, close the windows the A/C uses less gas than wind drag, set out side air and auto temp, AC cycles only when needed. Happy motoring!
Check tire pressure often very important to rolling resistance. AC on auto out side air will cool or warm cabin. Change those air filters engine must breathe.
How come I only got 45 mph ?😮 I already am very gentle on pedal and brake
Cos its a con mate
My 2013 Prius has 184,000 miles and drives like a new car??? I was told by another Prius owner to change over to 87 Octane (PURE GAS) no Ethanol, by gosh he was right? After 3 tanks of real gas I made a trip down Dallas Way the round trip came to 350 mile I was mostly driving 60-65mph when I filled up and I got 54mpg WOW the only way I was able to get 50-52mpg miles using Ethanol Gas was to drive 50-55mph, I live in Oklahoma and know a number of folks using the pure gas no POP CORN liquid???
The Toyota Prius was and is the best engineered car ever made going back to the 60's Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati, Ford, GM and Dodge, No joke The spark plugs and and Breaks were changed out at 100,000 miles , all fluids are changed at 65,000 miles 0-20W Synthetic oil and factory oil filter is changed at 5000 miles cabin filters are also changed once in a while put that up against the service of 60,000 miles Mercedes or BMW which can give the symptoms of illness when you hit the cashiers office, NO JOKE there either...
So no junk in the trunk?
Simply common sense in a weak attempt to look like brilliant insight.
Can any one tell me what is this B- mode?
Hi there, thanks for your comment. B mode refers to engine braking, you can use this when on steep declines.
I have a RAV4, don’t see any B mode 🤷♀️ I have Eco, Normal, Sport
B mode is located on the shift lever. P,R,D,2,B@@susanmeredith4957
Eco all the time. Never use normal, increases consumption. I get 60-71mpg in 2019 Prius.
I would like to add to the statements made by the presenter. She claims all the energy decelerating is recovered, I've done testing in my Plug in Prius-measuring the energy climbing a slope, then descending the same slope using the regeneration to the best the car is able-the regen system recovers 50% of the energy climbing the slope. She also claimed that using the climate control on recirculate is more efficient-absolutely not. Use the fresh air from outside to cool or heat the car -that's free energy rather than running the air conditioning compressor. Above 70 km/hr (45m/hr) the air con is more efficient than the extra wind drag, so close the windows when above 70km/hr. I do use recirculate when behind diesels or passing stinky factories. I had the Prius for three years before really concentrating on improving the fuel economy-A year of effort has gradually enabled me to halve my fuel use on my daily commute without increasing my drive time. Now I'm disappointed with myself if I use more than 100mpg. The Yaris is not a plug-in but uses no more fuel on longer trips; it would be quite a lot better if it had the energy use display that the Prius has.
I think she said you can end up using electric 50% of the time. Also that AC on recirculating air saves energy when compared to ac taking air from outside. That's true. Obviously no AC is cheaper.
I think what she meant by having the AC on recirculate, was having AC on and fresh air coming in. The car would have to cool that fresh air. But with recirculate on, it just keeps the same group of air cold. I don't think she meant AC is better for gas mileage than just having fresh air come in without the AC on.
