I have a 2018 Kia optima S. The only real problem is that it would cut off sometimes, but that’s because the clamps for the battery wasn’t all the secure. But once I figured out what it is, that car has never failed me. I’ve always kept up the maintenance on it an it’s only like 65k miles on it. The performance of it has always empresses me. Especially when you do it correctly. This car has gotten me thru and it still looks great! Thank you!

I have a 2018 Optima with the 2.4L engine. The only issue I have is the paint chipping fairly easily. My car has over 80,000Km on it. Mine doesn't burn oil, the transmission still behaves, although sometimes at low speed up a hill it won't downshift to a lower gear. I think that is just a programming thing though as it behaves as expected any other time. It's a nice comfy daily driver that's been reliable as anything else for me

i have the same vehicle. Paint does seem to chip easily. However, my engine is burning 2 quarts of oil in less than 1,000 miles. Currently waiting on the engine replacement. My driver side window button seems loose/gets stuck in the up and down position. My ac makes a loud humming noise when i turn the fan to settings numbers 3 and 4. I think my transmission is going bad. Car jumps when accelerating from redlights, when accelerating on highway the rpms shoot up but the car doesnt move quick and or hesitates and then jumps forward at high rpms. Had an issue with my air intake manifold flaps being stuck closed, dealership wanted $1,200 to repair it. I said no. When i left i have not had that light come back on again. I believe my enginge began burning oil around 50,000 miles. I did not think it could be that in such a new car then, but at around 72,000 miles is when i caught onto the issue when i began checking my oil during every gas fill up. Not sure what to do with the car once i get the new engine. I am at 87,000 miles now. If i can get the transmission replaced also, i may keep it since its a new car, if not, I think i will be looking to get a new/used toyota if i can find one for a decent price in this market.

It seems like they were crappy in the 80’s and 90’s, then they got better in the flow a while, now they reverted to back to crappy. I know someone with a 2010 Sorrento that’s been readable to this day, but later ones were crappy.

I had to get a new steering column assembly and sensor cable…kia wouldn’t cover my 2016 optima bc it was not under the extended warranty. If you have any info to help me please let me know. I just spent $3800…

I have 2015 Optima. Had a new factory engine installed and today my engine light came on and it started making a weird noise. In fact it always makes a weird noise when I start it up and put it in drive/reverse. Drives me nuts already. Tomorrow I’m taking it to autozone to see what code it is getting. I hope it is an easy fix. Might sell it and buy a beater Corolla! The Kia is my commuter

I loved it when i brought my 18 optima in for checking my oil issue. They said i had a cracked oil pan, but i saw no oil leaking ever (could have been possible from this object on the highway i hit previously, but at the other kia dealer i was at two weeks before didnt notice anything). I figured they were trying to beat around the bush of the oil burn. I did the oil consumption test, was burning 1.7 quarts in less than 1,000 miles. They did the engine cleaning, i came back after 1,100 miles. They maybe waited ten minutes of my car cooling down to check oil, said it only burnt 1,000 miles and that my car is fixed. I check my oil after i left. It was still hot but i would have said it was slightly over a quart missing. So i carry on knowing that my car isnt fixed but i will return soon. No more than a month later, i am burning a quart in 400 miles. I call the service manager (really nice guy, sucks he works for Kia and has deal with this B.S). He tells me to come back in for a new test but we will skip the engine cleaning. Service techs tried saying i overfilled my oil when i 100% had it perfectly filled. But anyways I paid for a new oil change because i still needed a new oil filter. I came back in 900 miles. The service tech pulls out my dipstick and says "wow, that is low". It was just about 2 quarts low, barely any oil on the bottom tip of the stick. He submitted a claim with kia right then. That was about 3 weeks ago. Just got word yesterday of my new engine approval. Now i am worried my trans is slipping.

I have a 2015 optima gdi. I had noticed smoke coming from the engine and a electrical burning smell. Had the recalls fixed but it's still doing the same thing. Only now my interior and exterior lights will stay on sometimes. What is the issue? Anyone know?

Check your alternator. I’ve had mine go out 3x in a 6mo period.
Every time it was an electrical burning smell-lights will go on & off, interiorly & exteriorly. Every light on the dash will come on as well.

I have same car. My car did this for first time other day. I called Kia…You call Kia dealership near you they will order you a $8k new engine for free with no cost at all. Just how it works with the Kia there know to start having these problems. Call before to late. They only make sure you had oil changes and didn’t just let it get ruined.

My 2015 Kia Optima has many chips in the paint. Complained to my dealer, they were no help. Called Kia corporation, they gave me an authorization number and told me to get two estimates and send the estimates to Kia Corp with the authorization number. That was completed over 8 months ago, followed up with a phone call and they received pictures along with estimates. NO ONE HAS CALLED ME. The more people who complain, might help with a class action suit.
