Thanks for continuing to put out good Oregon Coast jetty videos. It’s fun to see local content. I’m going to walk the sand inside the triangle next time. Keep up the good work!
We really do appreciate it Mike! Yes sir anytime you see us out, please, please swing by and say hi. We want our viewers to know how approachable we are!
Great video bro, I go and visit my grandma in Grants Pass Oregon once a year and I’ve been wanting to do some fishing out there but I don’t know how it’s done! Thank you for showing me some things, I know how to fish here in Kansas but in Oregon things are a little different!!
I'm from Bandon Oregon. I fish from Port Orford to Charleston and up around Cape Arago. I have two rods that I like to use 1: is a 6' Shakespeare Ugly Stick paired with a Shimano SnapShot 3000 with 12lb mono. 2: is a Shakespeare 8' fiberglass salmon rod that's Frankensteined. I have Fugi eyes wrapped in 80lb Dacron coated in clear fingernail polish. I pair that with a Shimano Snapshot 4000 That rod is my Salmon, Surf, ling, Halibut, and sturgeon Rod and I use 40lb mono with a 6' 20lb mono leader on that Rod. This setup gets it done! You don't need fancy shit to go kills fish! Use what you got and make it work and know your baits and conditions that your fishing in.
Along any part of beach u can use a gold 1/4 to 1/2 in screen to scoup up sand where little holes are little crab like Crustaceans which will catch surf perch if your do not have low tide to get sand shrimp.
Ghost shrimp are, hands down, the best 'candy bait' for onshore and inshore fishing on the Pacific coast! They will provoke a strike at times when nothing else will.
I’m new to ocean fishing I was out the other day at jetty neat tillmook fishing with sand shrimp but couldn’t hook any they kept nibbling the bait off I got 20+ bite, is my hook the wrong size or what am I doing wrong, thansk ahead of time for advice!
They call them ghost shrimp on the east coast. Absolute deadly on most in shore and near shore fish from Maine to the keys. Heading to No Cal next week to rip some lips. May bring my shrimp sucker, thought I'd retire it since we moved to utah.
At video time 9:17 you mentioned a fish I think you said "calazon"? I take it they are not only salt water. I caught one last July in the Willamette river near Keizer Rapids park, while fishing a Ned rig on some rocks. It was only 4 inches long, but same color, mouth, and big spikey fins. Always wondered what that was.
Where do you go to suck the shrimp? Is it on the coast at low tide or a river? The location was not clear. We are coming to the coast first of September. First time to to this state. Hoping to make the best of the fishing there. 😁 doing research through TH-cam videos
It's pretty good now... Depends a bit one what your targeting..., Lingcod move in during the winter and there's still a few good ones around through spring..., Also earlier in the season is usually pretty good for bigger fish, when the spots usually haven't been hammered too hard. As it warms up the fishing is still decent but a lot of the best residential fish have already been caught...
I was told the blue spot Greenling are male, yellow spotted are female. I've caught lots of both over the years, and some with both colors of spots. Cabazonian Warrior! aka Mr. Crab Cruncher. Blue meat, until it hits the oil, anyways. Fantastic video, get bait, catch fish with said bait! You guys know your stuff, but don't bring egos into play, just a pure enjoyment of fishing and all that goes with it. I'm cracking an IPA in your honor right now. Watching The Bite does make me thirsty (hungry too)
@@SLAINFOLKS newport and I think if your at cannon beach you might not want to drive that far, tillamook and astoria be the best bet but I haven't fished there its a bit to far from me, hope it helps
is not true sand shrimp is not the best bait. best technique is the best. if you know what you are doing you catch almost evercast.. believe me i can do it no matter what..

Freshwater sculpin. Different than a cabezon
