Ender 3 upgrades: EZR to direct drive adaptor and all in one rear mounted electronics case

- I’ve put some hours into CAD this week, designing two upgrades to improve my Ender 3 that you can benefit from too.
The first is an adaptor to join my two favourite Ender 3 extruder mods together: the direct drive kit from Basaraba Innovations and the EZR extruder. This simple part gives reliable and convenient filament loading, with improved printing performance.
The second aims to tidy up my electronics, which were accessed underneath the printer and had buck converters and other components loose. I’ve created a modular system for mounting the electronics at the back of the machine, to suit the standard Creality board, an MKS Gen L or an SKR 1.3. There are also mounts for TL smoothers, a raspberry pi, a buck converter and two relays. The cooling fan is now much quieter and can be upgraded to a 40x20mm design without issue.
All parts are easy to print without support and fit on an Ender 3 bed. This should be compatible with the standard Ender 3 and the Ender 3 Pro.
I'm really happy with my design and I hope others can benefit too.

I just finished printing and installing this. Great case. I was concerned with air flow but now that it's all setup the electronics are cooler than before. Thank you for the great design!

This looks brilliant! I I can't count the times I've flipped the printer over to access the MKS board that I installed. I love the way you've fit the Raspberry Pi in with the other electronics.

I've always been critical of upgrading something to the point where you are replacing it but this is probably the best and most practical upgrade I've seen. I wouldn't be surprised if Creality either contact you or rip this design. Very pro.
Awesome video yet again. I love your videos you do such a good job with them, very good summary at the beginning and then perfect level of detail and a great wrap up. I've done a lot of the modifications you've described including this one on all of my enders and they went so smoothly. Amazing, Once again, you have solved a major issue for me. I have an Ender 3. Between the BL touch Pin 27 adapter, the raspberry PI and now the latest...the buck converter for the Noctua, I have run out of places for things. This will absolutely be the next project. Thanks.
