quick tip for the eye protection: if possible, never shine the laser directly onto the goggles as their protection degrades a whole lot quicker than just by scattered light

I could watch the ‘Ender 3 Pro Upgrades’ series forever! I remember when I got my first Ender 3 Pro early this year and watched pt 1. Totally brought my full attention to the machine and 3D printing in general.
I got my first printer about a month ago and after much research I ended up getting the Ender 3, I could have gone for the Pro, CR10 or some other upgraded model but I had full intentions of upgrading and modding the printer myself (especially after watching your videos) and I'm really glad I took that route! I'm at a stage where I feel comfortable taking my printer apart, putting it back together, making mods etc and I've ended up not having just and Ender 3 but an Ender 3 tailored to me.
I recently got my own Ender 3 Pro because of your series just a week ago and just wanted to say thank you for making such high quality videos that could make any noob like me think he has a shot in this hobby.
It is so damn impressive that you can sustain such a huge subscriber count on 16 videos in 3 years. Great video quality and awesome mods.
I did most of the upgrades you did in the first 2 parts and the difference in performance was amazing. Also your editing style is sooo clean.

Scott, I just want to thank you for this series!! You are responsible for me buying my Ender 3 Pro, 2 years ago. I watched your first video and because of that my Ender is still themed black and red. But the mods never stopped. She is encased in acrylic and printing ABS better than my second printer ( Voron 2.4). You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work.

I also started with an Ender 3. However I defected over to a Resin 6k printer. Your video's are an inspiration to the things you can do with the Ender 3. Thank you for the time you spend making these videos which are helpful and fun to watch.
Man I remember being so excited when this video dropped. Almost a year later, I still come back and rewatch it for inspiration and it just heightens my anticipation for the next video. Keep them coming, Scott!!!
Linear rails would be a nice upgrade. Maybe you could get it to work with klipper and IS for some super fast prints.
Which spray paint did you use for the aluminium parts? Automotive paint? And which „corrosive chemicals“ worked for you?

I've been using a small black paper clip for a larger stack of papers for my bed and have been working great. Also a linear x rail works nice and smooth. I was able to redesign the entire thing to bring the weight closer in towards the rail for better weight distribution which helped with wobble and speed.
Hey Scott, have you considered that they took inspiration from your ender 3 pro videos to make the ender s1? That's how I view it lol.
The took inspiration of the whole amazing community around the Ender 3 and added the easiest and best upgrades to the s1.

I watched this right at release and I only realized now, that I was totally lucky, because I found part 1 yesterday and watched all parts after and today was the release of part 4

As for my Q for the Q&A if you're still taking questions:
I'd love to see how the bigger picture planning for your videos happens, it feels like literally everything you do has been filmed. Do you do everything in one go before hand (rehearse) then execute? Or mainly keep the camera rolling and just cull the unnecessary/camera unfriendly bits? I'm fascinated by your video structure so any behind the scenes/big picture stuff would be awesome to see!

Massive props to you for including STL links for these projects! I've gone through 3 pen plotter add-ons and 2 Cricut blade holder add-ons and didn't like any of them so far - gonna try yours and see how well it holds up!
Are cricut blade holders worth a try?
Like can you achieve a decent level of precision using them?

Hey Scott, long time no see! Your first video made me inspired to buy and customise my own Ender 3... So now I have ten of them, and more coming. My craziest upgrade for Ender 3 was BLV Kit and IKEA LACK enclosure, that, basically turn my printers blazing fast. To make them even faster, I've switched all motherboards to BTT Octopus Pro, extruders to Orbiter 2.0, and drivers to MKS Servo42C, so now all of my 0.9 degree 48V motors, can run with highest speeds possible on Ender's. I'm so glad, that you didn't abandon your own Ender, and excited for more experiments and upgrades, cause after every video, I find something new. Thanks for your work, and see you in the next videos!

As someone who's new to 3D printing your videos have been invaluable. I just ordered a garolite bed for my ender 3 pro. I have had some difficulties trying to print with PETG and hopefully the G10 bed will help.

I‘m curious, I see you using different types of electric screwdrivers, which one is your favorite / would you recommend to people?
11:38 and 11:52 . I am no expert, but it seems like a bad idea to test the glasses by reflecting the laser upwards toward your face/eyes or stuff like paper or wood that could catch on fire. I guess the laser is dispersed by the curvature of the glasses, but still looks risky.
I have just enjoyed these and its been insanely pleasing!! Thank you so much for the amount of effort and heart you put into these.

Curious how well the paint is gonna hold up, the black was anodized on but the roller wheels might degrade it in the channels. Regardless, cool to see you still working on this thing! Have you ever considered just trying to design a printer from scratch?

Looks like it's bare inside the channels.
A geared extruder would be a lot better for direct drive. It uses a smaller motor, but can achieve the same (or more) torque. I'm currently using the superlight orbiter v2 (on my vcore 3), and it can push more than 50mm^3/s of filament, which is 0.3mm layer height, 0.8mm line width, at like 500+ mm/s
why there are no nema geared? instead of and extruder geared?

Good lord that's ridiculous fast. No way it keeps near perfect quality while flying around like that... but then you must also have some insane cooling... sheesh

What was your worst ( by worst i mean most damage/took the most to clean up) f@#$ up with the ender? I once had a leaky hotend from an improper nozzle change. What was yours?
does painting the aluminum extrusions affect the surfact smoothness and therefore worsen the precision of the motion?
It shouldn’t cause any issues if you use a good quality spray paint and give it a even coat to prevent having varying surface coat thicknesses.
Love the videos man... just printing stuff to improve own tools / customize stuff is amazing. Also love the minimalistic style of the videos that are always focused on the main points and don't distract the eye to clutter in the background. Also the unified color scheme throughout the videos makes it a great viewing experience.

Question - How much does the qaulity of the prints differ from your ender 3 pro to the s1 pro? Would be cool to see a comparison? :) keep up the amazing videos
They... probably don't? Even the cheapest 3d printer you can possibly find today should be capable of producing near perfect prints; we are way past the reprap days. Newer printers will give you quality of life improvements, may include auto bed leveling, support more materials or hotter temperatures or print faster(and don't forget the quality control if you get something like a Prusa, it probably won't come with a warped bed). But if quality is all you need, any (well calibrated) printer will work just fine.

I have one and I have to say it's fast sure but after you have done upgraded it you will soon find out you wish you have put all those money building a Voron 2.4

don't use a volcano. use a high flow like a dragon or rapido, or even better, a hemera.

Is the Ender 3 pro still worth it?
You can get one at a microcenter for 100 bucks so if you’ve got plans to mod it then yeah they’ll make pretty good kits. Probably better to spend a bit more and get a more solid printer though, although I only have an ender 3 and 5 so I don’t have any real recommendations
Yes it’s worth it. You don’t need all this cake decoration either. I make tons of money with my stock Ender 3 pros and one reg 3. Good designs make money

You should take a look into modifying the ender 3 pro to a core xy printer! You can either print parts, or buy a kit. Would be a great addition to the ender 3 series which i absolutely love!

I've done similar mods but went a slightly different route, squash ball feet are great for reducing vibrations, and for the z mod, kevinakasams double belted z is awesome, gets rid of all the lead screw issues and also the drawbacks of having parallel drive as it's a single motor. I use a "super whopper" from e3d and this comfortably holds the gantry up too. The white frame is awesome btw, haven't seen anyone go that far cosmetically before!

BRO That pen plotter hits hard!!!! I now have a new use for my Ender 3 V2. Good job pointing out the dangers of lasers, my personal diode lasercutter is within an enclosure to minimise any off axis glances with goggles. That MakersMuse video is also awesome especially for pointing out materials, the amount of people I've seen posting stuff they've cut that's incredibly toxic is wild.
