      @@jameseast294 Young and dumb? Of course we all were at one point. But there's a big difference between sneaking out of the house to go drink/smoke with your friends, and murdering someone who considered you a best friend with a kill kit ready to go in your trunk. Call me whatever insult you'd like, but to me, some crimes outweigh that perceived notion of young innocence/ignorance.

      It's punishment for one murder. So there's a chance that they might not do it again, maybe they'll realise their mistakes after being in prison for a couple of year. That's their thinking. Plus they were minors when they did it. So 30 years to life seems pretty decent.

      the saddest part is every couple years the poor parents will have to continually be put through hell and attend parole hearings and stress of reliving it over and over. Justice system needs to have much stricter limits parole hearings for the victims families. the parents have a life sentence and these vicious, sociopaths get to spend their lives having every comfort the world offers prisoners now. Internet, ability to marry in prison and have conjugal visits, get medical care, get college degrees, great health care, tv and cable. Things many hardworking decent people cannot have. Prison to me means you lose all of life's privileges and comforts. You get 3 bland meals, hour of daylight, work yourself non stop, and can only check out a book occasionally for good behavior. But no these vile people are allowed to write books, profit, terrorize their victims from prison and live a better life than they did on the outside.

      Sheila was a psychopathic narcissist and Rachel was just a manipulated pawn who was still in the love bombing phase and went along with whatever Sheila planned because she was her "bestie." It doesn't excuse Rachel's part in what was done to Skylar, but sociopaths do not have nervous breakdowns that lead to confessions of murder. And considering how little remorse Sheila exhibited during the trial indicates that she reveled in the attention and had no guilt whatsoever. Sociopaths can feel some moments of guilt, but psychopaths aren't capable of true remorse or empathy... they can mimic it very well but they don't experience it the same way most people do. Sociopaths have a better chance of responding well to therapy than psychopaths typically unless the affected party finds it absolutely necessary to change.

    I feel like I avoided a similar situation once in my life. I had 2 friends I was cool with but they had a friend who never liked me despite my best efforts, and one day they asked me to come over and hang out with them, but this third person who never liked me and was never nice me was being suspiciously nice and trying so hard to convince me to come over, but I denied the offer. A few months later for some reason I can't recall (I'm 25 now I was probably 17 or so then) we got into it on Instagram, she was being rude about my art and through messages she admitted to having mean intentions that day. She said they were all going to basically make fun of me the entire time behind my back/to my face and I still to this day think they were planning something much worse. To this day I don't have many friends and I have no faith or trust in anyone I meet. I can't say for sure they'd murder me but still, if there are and teenagers reading this, don't feel so alone and willing to do anything to fit in with a friend group. The chances of you having any of these friends into adulthood are so so small, and it's okay to be a loner. Get yourself into art, movies, and other forms of healthy expression and know that one day you'll have the love and acceptance all people long for. Life is a journey and all these mean people are just lessons to take at face value. Xoxo
    Also always love yourself enough to be okay with that bit of loneliness. You are valuable, you are strong, and you will have happiness in your life. 💓

    Crazy seeing this video pop up on my recommended. Skylar is one of my distant cousins and after my family found out that she went missing, my mom and I created a FB group to spread awareness. It ended up gaining a lot of attention in the years since and unfortunately I was unable to keep up with all the spam as it was a public group. Things really ramped up after major news outlets took up the story. I never met you Skylar, I wish I did. Our family had amazing things to say about you and your father is a stand up man. Well, i dont know if this is confiremed, but there was someone saying that at a sleepover of the 3, Skylar had woke up to the other 2 girls having sex together. Supposedly Skylar was really upset and confronted them and said she was going to tell people. So people think this is what motivated the girls to murder her. Again, i dont know if its true, but Id believe that Skylar at least told someone, and that person is the one giving this information. And it would at least give a motive to why these 2 monsters murdered her. Or...Sheila is just a psychopath who charmed and manipulated Rachel into helping her kill Skylar because she just felt like it. That girl has no soul.

  • @SimplySamantha333
    @SimplySamantha333 3 ปีที่แล้ว +411

    I very clearly remember this case. The 2 girls that killed her had a "secret" sexual relationship with one another and Skylar knew all about it. They didnt want Skylar around because the 2 girls were tremendously jealous of one another and always thinking that the each other liked Skylar too much and spent too much time with her. Also both were jealous about Skylar being around either of the 2 girls. They also didn't want Skylar to tell on them or talk about it to anyone else, so Skylar was an issue for them, an obstacle in their way and an obstacle in their relationship basically. So they decided on all of it and planned to kill her because of it. Check the details out. This was a tremendously heinous and devastating tragedy. 1st degree murder is what it truly was because they planned it ALL out, they lured her out, begged her to come that night with them and then acted on their plans to rob her of her innocent and beautiful life.
    ❤ RIP Skylar, you're an absolutely beautiful soul ❤ You deserved better in this life. TY so very much Mr.BALLEN, for sharing Skylar's story here and keeping her memory alive.
    *Edited/added* only the info below for clarification here:
    Skylar allegedly wrote in her diary that during a sleepover in her house she walked in on Sheila and Rachel having sex together. Skylar also wrote several different tweets to the effect of how, she would expose all of the s*it she knew if she could get away with it (because of how they were treating her so badly, but she still didn't tell exactly what it was on Twitter or who it was about, but the 2 girls obviously knew exactly what she meant)
    *Theres even a book written about this entire case out called "pretty little killers"*
    There was even a 20/20 dateline T.V episode on this case. You can check everything out about this all over, online too.

She was mocking the police looking at her Twitter account. Wish Mr.Ballen talked about their social media, how Rachel broke down and went to the psychiatric hospital before confessing and then wiring herself up to get Shelia to confess (as she made a deal for a shorter sentence). How they had to be home schooled because rumors were going on about them at school and them being the ones who committed the crime, their “lesbian relationship” that was possibly the motive for the murder - that Skylar knew about. I found it it insane that also, Rachel went on a boat on a lake with her family and friends the next day and had pictures taken of her, and acted like everything was okay.

    Updates from Wikipedia:
    - On May 9, 2023, Rachel's bid for parole was denied.
    - During that parole hearing, Rachel finally gave a motive - she and Shelia had been in a romantic relationship and this caused tension between the couple and Neese.

    • @johnnyblade51
      @johnnyblade51 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that is correct. I have heard this case story before and this video left out a lot of details. As a matter of fact, Rachel and Sheila had started getting closer, and Skylar had noticed it and was becoming very uncomfortable with it. Skylar had a very good upbringing and home life, where as Sheila was a trouble maker. During a sleepover that the three had one night, both Rachel and Sheila engaged in kissing and oral sex right in front of Skylar. That was the tipping point that started the chain of events that lead to the two of them killing Skylar.

      He changed somethings with the story to make it well... A better story but those murders have like video logs of talking about Skylar how she's a hoe and a bitch and she's gonna get what she deserves. The cops did have eyes on them immediately after interviewing classmates as well as video evidence of the car but a common model car with no significant indicators isnt solid evidence. Also with murder cases the most important thing you need is a body. Still to this day no body no murder no murder weapon no murder. Justice system isn't about who actually did what it's about who can prove or in Americas case who can paint the best picture of what happened. Innocent people are convicted everyday due to this exact fact.

    I’m obsessed with this true crime. I’ve read Shelia’s tweets and it was clear, she was the mastermind behind this crime. Also, killing Skylar because of their fear of their lesbian relationship being gossiped around school really backfired as ironic as it could get. Not only did the school find out, but the public. And even if Skylar told the school about the 2 girls relationship, I doubt their peers would have cared or it would soon become yesterday’s if they did. They could have just denied it.
    Now they’re in prison forever wasting away, meanwhile all their peers they were so afraid of being judged by graduated, went off to college and are living their young adult lives, not giving second thought to these 2 girls. They killed their best friend for their peers, and their peers couldn’t have cared-less what their relationship was.
    This just goes to show how underdeveloped teenagers minds are. Everything really does feel like the end of the world when you’re in high school. But you don’t go all evil and kill innocent friends because of it. 🤦🏻‍♀️Shelia and Rachel made their beds.

    I graduated class of 2015 from UHS, same high school that this happened. This really was something that rocked everyone. I was apart of a Christian youth group called Young Life. Rachel was also part of Young Life. The entire time that Skylar was missing Rachel was still coming to Young Life meetups every Wednesday. And then one day she wasn’t there and soon after the news came out that she participated in the murder. And this group of 10 or 15 high schoolers including me just didn’t know how to react. It was just a very weird feeling that we had been hanging out with a murderer for months. We never had any reason to think that this pretty girl that we hung out with often, stabbed a girl to death. Still gives me chills to this day.

    I was in Laken Correctional Facility with Sheila and Rachel. (I was there for a non-violent, non-drug related offense and I made parole my 1st time up.) I first encountered them out on the yard at grass rec time..and I can tell you a couple things about them. They have their own little following (mostly young girls who look up to them for God knows why) and Sheila more so than Rachel soaks up this attention and revels it. They both wear makeup and curl their hair, though Sheila is way more egotistical and all about looking good all the time. From what most everyone says, Rachael has quite a hard time with what she's done, yet Sheila is all smiles 364 days a year, the 1 day a year she isn't all smiles is when she's up to see the Parole Board, that day she really turns on the waterworks. By all accounts Rachael is remorseful and the 2 of them are housed in different pods. Days are quite slow at Laken so they both have plenty of time to think about what they did, whether they do or not remains to be seen. I did not speak to either one of them but I just thought it'd be interesting to hear from someone who's had to share breathing space with these two b**ches..believe me I couldn't get away fast enough.

    Psychopathy is no joke. Peer pressure isn't either for teenagers. Rachel's nervous breakdown was a normal (neurotypical) reaction considering what she had done. Shelia additionally being able to fake legitimate looking grief in front of Skylar's parents when she deemed that it was beneficial for her, and her "smirk" behaviour at court paint a picture of an ice cold, calculating person not able to feel any kind of guilt or remorse. IMO there is a high risk that she'll commit murder again if she took a liking to it.

Now the other 30% are the thing to worry about but that's actually a small percentage and that's why we all make such a big deal.
