When I eat a banana, I give it a generous dusting with cinnamon. Omg, it's sooo good. The cinnamon helps with insulin sensitivity and is a great antiinflammatory. You won't be disappointed!
Im a young 65yr old no wrinkles. I eat a medium size yellow banana daily after breakfast. No constipation, no cramps in my legs and has a good potassium level. I encourage my family and friends to be yellow babana friendly. Dr. Thank you very much for your good informative video. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Love Susan from Cape Town, South Africa❤
In short, eat green/light yellow bananas, which I prefer anyway ! Avoid soft, deep yellow/brown bananas as these are much higher in sugar, also avoid Pineapple, and Mango, they are high in sugars too !
I eat 5 or 6, sometimes 8, bananas every day; they have a strong laxative effect and raise the serotonin level thus countering depression, besides being a delicious food.
My daughter has pollen food allergy syndrome, she will get instant mouth sores, itchy throat she’s also allergic to Latex and some adhesive tapes. Loving the knowledge your sharing. Thank you
I used the green bananas to make salad instead of potato ,i also put sweetpotato in it and my reading are very good when i used it like that..Thank you Doc for all those tips .❤
Yes dr Ergin. I eat them everyday but the green ones. They are super good and fulfilling when paired with almond butter, raw almonds butter, 1gr sugar per serving and p sodium, at trader joe's
Just make sure that the bananas you plan to eat are at least yellow and ready for eating. I had two green bananas the other day and extreme constipation set in from eating the green bananas. Unripe bananas are extremely difficult to digest (like raw potatoes) and will cause major constipation. Yellow bananas though are actually quite good for a person as bananas contain a good amount of potassium (balance electrolyte & blood pressure levels) and also contain a good amount of fiber.
Thank you doctor for the banana analysis. I agree with you 100,%. I rarely eat bananas because of diabetes. I still eat once in while, only when I crave for it. 😊❤️🇨🇦
Interesting presentation. I haven't eaten bananas in years since I went low carb, although I come from a family of subsistence banana farmers. I may try to cautiously experiment with them now. On a side note: we used to feed our cows and goats with green banana peels as a supplement.

Hey I am Diabetic Type two for the last 40 years always on the higher side but never above the danger level. I take one ripe Banana every day during breakfast. I am fine and I am least worried.
Yes indeed, but try to eat them when they are not over ripe, the riper they are (deep yellow/brown) the higher the sugar content ! Green/yellow color is best as lower in sugar content 💚

Thank you the info on bananas. Especially about resistant starches. I need some clarification on what you mean by unprocessed oats, beans and peas. Do you mean by cooking them, it makes them processed? Or if the beans come from a can, is it processed?
I love bananas but I only eat half a banana each day! My grandmother used to tell me it was good for my blood pressure but I don’t know if that’s true. I love bananas regardless! 😊
Your grandmother is correct. One night I woke up with my heart pounding. I checked my BP and it was very high. I looked online to see what might be going on. One article stated that HBP could be a sign of low magnesium or low potassium. Well I was taking a magnesium supplement so I ruled that out. I went and ate a banana (for potassium) and it actually brought my BP back down to normal. I was amazed!
Am eating banana afternoon and evening in lunch and dinner in curd rice. My sugar is 319 . Am having rich buffet in 5 star and that's how drinking sugar cocktail and mocktails made me diabetic @ 40 . So planning to eat word of God ....psalms especially..and eat my prayer points card .
I am a diabetic and have good control over my sugar levels. I take bananas occasionally along with my normal diet or alone skipping meals. And of course with my regular medication. After consumption of bananas with medication, the sugar levels almost show the levels after normal meals.

Thank you for this wonderful blog. I will now have bananas in my diet. I stopped eating it when my sugar level went up a bit but with your video I will eat again bananas. God bless you
Ok, on the days that I go to the gym, I will start by eating half of the banana before, or make a smoothie with almond or coconut milk and cinnamon, and see how my BG behaves. I have a normal A1C nowadays, and I have noticed that I can increase my carbs a bit without an abnormal spike. I know I have to be careful with the rest of my life. Thanks for the information; I really miss my bananas; I grew up eating them ripe or green. After all, my sugar consumption was not too high even before I learned of my prediabetes condition.
Since becoming serious about my Type 2 (I'm now teaching myself how to cook and bake); Instead of one whole banana, I use half a banana and mix it will lower carb fruits. Its been a month and my blood sugar hasn't risen above 195. I'm considering ways to bake cakes and breads (Almond Flour, Almond milk, fresh fruits, and flavor extracts). Can you make a video on how safe these extracts are for diabetics?
Human Cells in the body are most obedient soldiers to protect us from ailments. Food habits that we nurtured from childhood never betray due to its assimilation by default. So, our Food Habits & Cells are made for each others. Thanks.
😊I’m really enjoying your videos! 1 question: Do green plantains have similar valuable elements for diabetics as green bananas? Plantains are cooked before eating, does that make a difference?😊
Green bananas have to be cooked also. My grandma used to smash them and added some seasoning and some oil. We also add them to soups, or slice them and add some lemon juice and salt and fried them. Who needs potato chips? For us poor kids in Honduras, it was like a gourmet delicacy. Enjoy your green bananas.
Make sure Bananas are Organic to eat the peel. You can fry lightly In Coconut oil. Eat them like you would a steak. Take your knife and fork cut and eat. Good for you! Make sure it is ORGANIC!

Great tutorial concerning bananas. They do spike sugar levels if the banana is to ripe. Thank you for the information. I have a renewed interest in them after watching the video especially the pain and cancer reducing factor.
I have a fatty liver, but I still eat a lot of bananas. Does freezing the bananas reduce the spike in blood sugar. I eat my bananas as a frozen treat, but I want to know does freezing them reduce the carbohydrate in the fruit?
One of the foods I miss in my keto diet are bananas. I still eat them 1/2 of one occasionally. I used to eat at least 2 or 3 on most days to substitute lunch on the go. Well they did not kept me from almost becoming DM. So I had to give them up. Checking my BG noted a decent high of eating one banana. I am not blaming the bananas for my health problem, but it sure is a part of it with other factors, including genetics.
Bananas and grapefruits spike my glucose by over 50 pts every single time…. And that is with 1/2 grapefruit or 1/2 banana. There is very little out there besides sugar that does this. There is nothing in a banana that I cannot get elsewhere.

Thanks I might start eating bananas again. DO naval oranges have pretty close amount of sugar as (medium ripe) bananas? So it would hurt you too much if you ate 1 a day or alternate.... the main point is you get other nutrients that help you overall. Ok Green Bananas prevent cancer tumors; but would medium ripe bananas still help but little less? Cause green bananas are yucky and plus scared could hurt your gut. Another thing is RBC (Red Blood Count), it will help increase this. Cause I take metformin and had a low RBC.... last blood test, befure metformin had better RBC.

Happy New Year 2023!!! How much carbs should I target if my A1C is 7.3. I want to take my A1C to 5.7 in 3 months. I am lean weigh around 170 lbs. I want to gain weight around 175/180. Is it possible? Are protein shakes good for diabetics? Or Natural sources are good.

Good information. Banana may have polysaccharides, glucose, fructose. Since fiber content is more may adsorb the sugars . Is this theory correct? If yes what will happen to diabetic

Green bananas you must cook by boyling for about 1/2an hour before consuming.
Thank you for clarifying on how to eat green bananas.

Eat a banana when it starts having brown spots if you are diabetic. I was told by a nursing sister who was a diabetic.
Thought when has spots it’s over ripped has mega sugar this video says eat them when green to get the benefits.
I heard eating green banana with some yellow is better not yellow banana with some black spots. 🤷♀️
Go with green bananas (1/4-1/2 portion)... No pineapple though

Another thing is RBC (Red Blood Count), it will help increase this. Cause I take metformin and had a low RBC.... last blood test, befure metformin had better RBC.
So lucky that Philippines have so many plant bananas in our backyard.🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
That's awesome!
Merry Christmas Dr. And thank you for your very informative vlogs

Thankyou for sharing. What about bananas & sleep? Don't they have some effect on levels of tryptophan? I seem to remember reading something about that.

Did you get your A1C level down like you wanted, and if so, how did you accomplish that?
Banana and strawberry jam sandwiches make a nice combination and a treat to eat.

Good information. Banana may have polysaccharides, glucose, fructose. Since fiber content is more may adsorb the sugars . Is this theory correct? If yes what will happen to diabetic
My favourite fruit n I enjoy.
Thanks I will eat more bananas now that I have watched this video. I didn’t eat them much because of the sugar in them. Great video Dr. Ergin . I really learned a lot in this video I had no idea of! Thanks again!
