When I eat a banana, I give it a generous dusting with cinnamon. Omg, it's sooo good. The cinnamon helps with insulin sensitivity and is a great antiinflammatory. You won't be disappointed!

In short, eat green/light yellow bananas, which I prefer anyway ! Avoid soft, deep yellow/brown bananas as these are much higher in sugar, also avoid Pineapple, and Mango, they are high in sugars too !

I eat 5 or 6, sometimes 8, bananas every day; they have a strong laxative effect and raise the serotonin level thus countering depression, besides being a delicious food.

Just make sure that the bananas you plan to eat are at least yellow and ready for eating. I had two green bananas the other day and extreme constipation set in from eating the green bananas. Unripe bananas are extremely difficult to digest (like raw potatoes) and will cause major constipation. Yellow bananas though are actually quite good for a person as bananas contain a good amount of potassium (balance electrolyte & blood pressure levels) and also contain a good amount of fiber.

Interesting presentation. I haven't eaten bananas in years since I went low carb, although I come from a family of subsistence banana farmers. I may try to cautiously experiment with them now. On a side note: we used to feed our cows and goats with green banana peels as a supplement.

Your grandmother is correct. One night I woke up with my heart pounding. I checked my BP and it was very high. I looked online to see what might be going on. One article stated that HBP could be a sign of low magnesium or low potassium. Well I was taking a magnesium supplement so I ruled that out. I went and ate a banana (for potassium) and it actually brought my BP back down to normal. I was amazed!

Ok, on the days that I go to the gym, I will start by eating half of the banana before, or make a smoothie with almond or coconut milk and cinnamon, and see how my BG behaves. I have a normal A1C nowadays, and I have noticed that I can increase my carbs a bit without an abnormal spike. I know I have to be careful with the rest of my life. Thanks for the information; I really miss my bananas; I grew up eating them ripe or green. After all, my sugar consumption was not too high even before I learned of my prediabetes condition.

Human Cells in the body are most obedient soldiers to protect us from ailments. Food habits that we nurtured from childhood never betray due to its assimilation by default. Food habits also rest with geographical conditions. Finally, I used to take Banana in combination of other fruits almost occasionally without any symptoms of Diabetes 1or 2 as per Glocose Test Reports being carried out on longer duration basis. So, our Food Habits & Cells are made for each others. Thanks.

Green bananas have to be cooked also. My grandma used to smash them and added some seasoning and some oil. We also add them to soups, or slice them and add some lemon juice and salt and fried them. Who needs potato chips? For us poor kids in Honduras, it was like a gourmet delicacy. Enjoy your green bananas.

Great tutorial concerning bananas. They do spike sugar levels if the banana is to ripe. Thank you for the information. I have a renewed interest in them after watching the video especially the pain and cancer reducing factor.

I have a fatty liver, but I still eat a lot of bananas. Does freezing the bananas reduce the spike in blood sugar. I eat my bananas as a frozen treat, but I want to know does freezing them reduce the carbohydrate in the fruit?

One of the foods I miss in my keto diet are bananas. I still eat them 1/2 of one occasionally. I used to eat at least 2 or 3 on most days to substitute lunch on the go. Well they did not kept me from almost becoming DM. So I had to give them up. Checking my BG noted a decent high of eating one banana. I am not blaming the bananas for my health problem, but it sure is a part of it with other factors, including genetics.

Bananas and grapefruits spike my glucose by over 50 pts every single time…. And that is with 1/2 grapefruit or 1/2 banana. There is very little out there besides sugar that does this. There is nothing in a banana that I cannot get elsewhere.

Thanks I might start eating bananas again. DO naval oranges have pretty close amount of sugar as (medium ripe) bananas? So it would hurt you too much if you ate 1 a day or alternate.... the main point is you get other nutrients that help you overall. Ok Green Bananas prevent cancer tumors; but would medium ripe bananas still help but little less? Cause green bananas are yucky and plus scared could hurt your gut. Another thing is RBC (Red Blood Count), it will help increase this. Cause I take metformin and had a low RBC.... last blood test, befure metformin had better RBC.

Thankyou for sharing. What about bananas & sleep? Don't they have some effect on levels of tryptophan? I seem to remember reading something about that.

Happy New Year 2023!!! How much carbs should I target if my A1C is 7.3. I want to take my A1C to 5.7 in 3 months. I am lean weigh around 170 lbs. I want to gain weight around 175/180. Is it possible? Are protein shakes good for diabetics? Or Natural sources are good.

Good information. Banana may have polysaccharides, glucose, fructose. Since fiber content is more may adsorb the sugars . Is this theory correct? If yes what will happen to diabetic
