    I am loving and appreciating your Sinead reactions. Thank you again SO much. Agreeing with others regarding there are so many great songs of hers to choose from. Highly recommend album versions of: Black Boys on Mopeds, Last Day of Our Acquaintance, Fire On Babylon, John I Love You, House of the Rising Sun, Thief of Your Heart, Sacrifice, soooo many. :)

    Sinead wrote in "Rememberings":
    "When I remember the tracks on "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got," I see again that the themes of death, dying, and communicating from the beyond are everywhere. In the first track, "Feel So Different," I'm actually talking to my mother."
    So it's another of the songs about her mother who she claims was alcoholic, abusive and manipulative. She's said before that she isn't sorry that he mother died, but it is something that haunts her and whether she's right or wrong in her memories (which differ from some of her siblings). It has been one of the forces that has shaped her own life.
    Once again it's a near-perfect song, with a strong melody and thoughtful lyrics to say nothing about her exceptional voice and the musicianship of the accompaniment.
    The lyrics are worth reading and pondering on their own but it is helpful in understanding them to know about her life. Unfortunately, we only know what she is willing to reveal about herself and there are many things that she won't say.
    Thanks to the person who chose this (I've forgotten your name), I admire your taste although there are so many brilliant songs by Sinead that this is one of many songs you could have requested. But this has brought it back to my mind and I will listen to it again a few times.
    BTW, unfortunately, "Rememberings" was a Kindle Daily Deal last night at 99 pence and has now returned to £5.99. Still, it was more than that when I bought it and I still think that it's a worthwhile purchase.

      Often the child who is the most abused, or considered the most troublesome, remembers things very differently from their siblings.

    sidead is so unique, thanks for introducing this song to me. a few others that I think you may like are: 'last day of our acquaintance', 'you cause so much sorrow,' 'black boys on mopeds'.

    If you feel her soul in these songs, search for 'Sinead o'connor sacrifice'. It's from an Elton John anthology album. Her voice will sear a hole in your heart.

    Totally relate to her deep lyrics. I lived it too. Not as horrendous as her but I very much understand horrendous. Haunting but empowering. Thankyou for sharing. I would say this song about her mother or partly at least. Child trauma of the worst kind.

    She suffered abuse from her mother and her mother died before any possible reconciliation.
    She's also singing to JEUSUAH
    whom she leaned on thru the abuse.
    As a matter of fact, irony is;
    I learned what
    'double entendre ' means while watching
    Sinead's first prime time interview
    while she explained her music.

    She is singing about her Mother and the abuse she took all her life . Sinead has a deep hate for her. A masterpiece to her mother is Nothing compares to you … just listen to Sinead talk to Dr. Phil

    The Prayer @ the beginning is the same one said world-wide by "A.A" (Alcohol Anonymous) Groups & other "12 Step Programs".
    To me it's a prayer of learning, deliverance & hopefully surrender from the substance that has control of your mind & body.

    After Sinead tore a picture of the Pope at a concert she went down career wise

    • @timtaylor7364
      @timtaylor7364 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      interestingly though, you could consider her a hero in that respect. She was using her platform to bring to light child abuse in the Catholic Church before the full understanding of what had gone on became finally understood by the general public. She risked her career by standing up and bringing attention to these terrible crimes. (I dont think she cared about her "pop" career by that point anyway, not compared against the horrific abuse of trust people had given the church in the responsibility of their children). Quite a woman. I believe the people who booed her when she tore up the picture may have reflected back on their reaction a couple of years later when it all came out.
