- The plaintiff shared an apartment with the defendant, but the plaintiff says the defendant’s boyfriend practically lived there. The plaintiff couldn’t take it anymore, so she moved out. Unfortunately, the plaintiff says the defendant owes her money for a security deposit and unreturned belongings, so she’s suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff is a control freak, and she moved out without any notice. The defendant is countersuing for a real estate broker’s fee.

I never understand people like the defendant. If she wants her boyfriend around all the time, why not just get a place with just the two of them? The fact she didn’t, makes me think that he’s a bum she’s taking care of.

it really feels to me like these two werent ever friends. their parents kind of forced it and then when they lived together they really got to realize it wasnt worth it.

As soon as a partner is spending more than 3 days a week there, then he owes rent. And they had agreed he could stay as long as the plaintiff was comfortable with it, and she was no longer OK with him there, especially as he has keys and was there without his girlfriend, taking showers, that's just weird...
Not in general terms. If your name is not on the lease, you don't have to pay anything unless you have some form of contract, written or verbal. It is up to the lessee to enforce a contract if their friend hangs put every day. The law isn't going to do thay for you.
There’s a huge difference between your roommates gf or bf coming over often hanging out & doing what this guy did. He had a key to their apt, was there when his gf wasn’t, was using resources like taking showers…..yeah he lived there & should have paid at least something.
I also don't approve of the Defendant's boyfriend almost "living" at the apartment & behave as though it's his place rent FREE. NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Just because their mothers were good friends doesn’t mean they have to be. My Dad had the dearest friend who was like a brother. They each felt this lifelong bond. He had a daughter a year younger than me. I didn’t like her particularly, but I was nice to her when we were around each other out of respect for our fathers if nothing else. She has quit being my friend twice over politics. I don’t care what her politics are. After the first time we made up and she did it again within months. 🤷🏼♀️ You can’t always make it work. Basically, we didn’t have anything in common and we didn’t really like each other. Our Dads have both passed, so we didn’t cause them any grief over it all. I’m happy for that.

I appreciate the judge's respect and honor for long term friends. However, if a relationship becomes toxic or you outgrow one another that's okay too! Friendships and relationships end or change and evolve. Sometimes you just have to move on

It sounds like Paige gave the impression it was just the two of them with occasional visits from her boyfriend but it was actually him living there and should have been split three ways. Why should someone else pay your boyfriend’s expenses? But eventually they will split up and she will have also lost a lifelong friend. At their age boyfriends come and go and she doesn’t have the best taste in men.
I'll put it softly as this it was her house first so she was able to bring in whoever she wanted to have her boyfriend was their majority of the time that's because before her god sister live there her boyfriend was there and she didn't want him to pay rent and that was most likely discussed beforehand then the cousin should have been like hey even if your boyfriend's there three times out of the week he should pay something because that's too many days out of the week that we will be seeing him and he will be using the facilitiesbreaking in there would have been the right time to actually today when the issues is going to be but that's not what happened therefore she couldn't get mad because she already knows that basically half of the week she was going to see that man she knew that before she got there she just did not want to be with her mother because she did not want to listen to no rules and when you go to someone else's house no matter what you going through you still have to follow those rules you going to have to deal with that person that's going to be coming in and out the house because that's who they chose to come in and out their house their house their rules what would they choose to come in and out with their choices

The younger generation don't appreciate what a 'friend' really is, they think that one wrong thing and it's all over, no wonder there are so many divorces. They are unforgiving and there is never any compromise, nor understanding, yet don't realise that it's a two way street, the defendant didn't respect the plaintiff by not understanding how having her boyfriend over-stay his welcome is disrespecting the plaintiff, NOT the other way around...
The divorce rate is actually lower than it has been in the past… also in the past women were just forced to stay in abusive relationships they couldn’t leave, so that’s not really better….. also the reason why there are more friends like this is because cost of living has risen so much, and wages haven’t increased nearly as much. It’s virtually impossible to support a family on one income, where as before it used to be the norm

Moving in together continues to kill friendships.
I had a friend move in with me we were good friends and then shit went south we literally fist fought she moved out we didn't speak for a whole 2 years, then we seen each other in the grocery store exchanged numbers and began talking again but before we established another relationship we talked about what had happened and came to terms that it was both our fault and this happened back in 2016 and we began talking again in 2018 and till this day we are best friends we do argue but we get over it laugh about it and keep our friendship going... I Love that girl we literally talk about everything and anything and we see each other all the time and always have a good time...
There are people who are temporarily in your life and you just move on but then there are people who you have in your life that you want to stay a part of your life it's your choice.. Just choose the right choice and I'm glad that I chose to give our friendship a second chance..

How do you know he's "broke"? He probably was paying rent somewhere else where his roommates had their girlfriends squatting there. The fact is, the plaintiff didn't agree to have two roommates, and the defendant was being selfish.
Always the ones who complain the most is not the one who paid the rent and moved from chaos, it is the one who had a boyfriend move in, rent free. I feel for the plaintiff. That is why I never have a roommate, too much chaos and drama.

@@hanaj Him not having a separate room doesn’t mean anything when it comes to tenancy as he is sharing his space with an intimate partner, he would be considered a tenant if he’s stay overnight at the apartment consecutively for a period of time even if he stays home for 2 days. When guest move belongings to the apartment, they can be considered tenants. Whether by parking their cars in the lot or moving their clothing or pets to the apartment, this is a glaring sign they are now tenants and should be paying rent.
Roommates have to set ground rules immediately otherwise it leads to disaster. So many people have no common sense or decency.

My SD did this to her first roommate - the girls were supposed to be 50/50 on the bills , but SD’s bf moved in. Third’s would be equitable.

Legit question….What’s a God Sister? I’ve never heard this term before. From what she’s saying, is it just their moms chose each other as God Mothers?
In Christian faiths Godparents are chosen to help parents raise their children up in the faith. During a dedication or christening they stand up and say they will be accountable to this child. The secular version is really just saying I will be an important part of your community. A second set of parents. So the children become God siblings. You basically treat each other somewhere between siblings and close cousins.
