    My best tip that would help a fellow rider is to watch MX Revival if you have any doubts on your build 😜 ...but for real cleanliness is next to godliness. Keep your bike clean and lubed, change your oils, clean air filter, lube that chain and grease what needs greased. Always wash your bike as soon as you can....Your bike and your wallet will definitely thank you 🤘🏽

      @@mxrevival Honestly I have a water pump shaft to replace in my ‘06 before I’d think about using any of that high dollar coolant..did the seal but still dripping out the weep hole. About 1/2 a quart between motos...don’t seem like a lot but as you know it adds up. But I’ll have it fixed by the time you send me it 👌🏽😂😂😂 jk Your sponsors treat you right, always mad extra stuff in your boxes, definitely jealous ...shit I get excited when I get stickers I didn’t order with my stuff lol

  • @niklassandvik9111
    @niklassandvik9111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I got the lectron to my ’05 CR250, and i must say im very dissapointed. Spent countless hours on the track trying to get it fine tuned and running crisp thru the whole rpm range, but it’s impossible. And the lack of bottom end power it got is ridiculous, pulls like a 85cc engine in a big frame, you have to rape the clutch getting out of corners to get it going again.
    I only tide mx, but for woods riding and enduro and all that stuff it’s probably very good cuz of the elevation changes and the no need of rejetting.
    I bought a Keihin PWK Airstriker 36mm, and man i can tell you, it barks like never before! If you ride mx, that carb is the shit on a old Honda!

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a bummer!!
      I will admit that the softer bottom end feel is in fact a Lectron trait. I could see it driving some guys nuts & other guys still having better power than their older fuel systems. I am an MX only guy too.
      Back to back, the stock Mikuni on the 250SX with proper jetting definitely had more thrust right off bottom than the Lectron, but the Lectron had insanely linear power that "feels" like a longer powerband, where the stock carb felt like it had an earlier sign off and would always light the tire off and spin where more traction from the Lectron (due to a smoother delivery, kinda like a flywheel weight sensation, was useful). I got used to the softer bottom feel & it actually helped me learn how to ride on the pipe better but it still always felt like a 250cc machine.
      I think that going up one tooth on the rear sprocket would satisfy that sensation you disliked for others. But there's *_no doubt_* that your Keihin on the CR250 was *_awesome_* . They make great power when dialed in!! Getting the settings right is just all-out explosive two stroke fun. I like both carbs for various reasons & enjoy jetting too.
      We're spoiled with choices!

    • @niklassandvik9111
      @niklassandvik9111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a 2018 250SX a few years back, really like the Mikuni on that bike and was fairly easy to get it properly jetted here were i live since we live at sea level and the humidity never barely changes ( live in Finland) but never had a chance to try a lectron on a more modern day 2 stroke, feels like it would have worked better on that since the motor is a fair bit stronger than the CR and probably wouldn’t felt it as much.
      But of course you can’t compare a old CR with a modern day 2 stroke on the bottom end power, wasn’t that big of a change with the lectron compared to the stock mikuni, but enough that it was getting a bit annoying since you always had to clutch it in the corners so it just didnt bog out, even with a tooth bigger rear sprocket.
      The stock mikuni on the CR is on the other hand a pretty pain in the ass getting correctly jetted and much more sensitive than the Keihin carb. Might just be that i am the problem getting the lectron running correct since i worked so much with the standard carb and have a better understanding of them how they work and feels easier for me to jet.
      But if someone looks for a better alternative to the stock mikuni and dont want to put out the money for a lectron i highly recommend the Keihin Airstriker carb, much easier to jet than the mikuni and no as sensitive for tempature changes

    Have you tried the Smart Carb? The Lectron and Smart Carb were invented/designed by the same person William Edmonston. He sold Lectron to General Motors in the late 70s and continued to perfect the original design to what we now know as the Smart Carb. The Smart Carb is a "more refined" and carries more patents in it's design. They are available in a cast version and as a billet version both are not cheap however.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think we have something on our website that will fit your bike. Just make sure that if you are going to order one of our Lectron Billetron (this is the new, latest and greatest version) but you also know your bike is in good working order first.
      Sometimes guys will try and throw one of these aftermarket carburetors on a bike that may have a slight air leak or erratic issue somewhere. Could be low compression, time for a top end, broken reeds… you understand where I’m going with this.
      The good news is that eventually if this is the case, the bike gets the rebuild it needs, and then you still have the cool carburetor. But I hate seeing my guys waste money before they have everything ironed out all the way.
      But always happy to help. If you are ready, you will not be disappointed!

    How does the lectron carb deal with the stock Honda TPS?

    • @mxrevival

      Hey Greg, thanks for the love! I really appreciate that.
      Our Gen II KLR650 kit kicks ass. Smooth metering and delivery across the board is exactly what Lectron does. We're eliminating multiple jetting circuits in the stock carb, and where they commonly overlap.
      Most of our guys experience better fuel economy as well. Of course, it will just run well everywhere regardless of elevation which is awesome on an adventure bike like yours.

      On the Lectron, I'm not sharing my opinion on the power loss vs a Keihin or Mikuni. I'm sharing what my dyno has told me over & over. So for all out power & torque, go with a Keihin or Mikuni. But to even suggest a Lectron is on par with either the Keihin or Mikuni as far as all out power & throttle response is, well frankly, absurd.
      The Lectron is not a bad carb though. It totally has its place & advantages like mileage & simple to trackside tune with no tools for elevation & atmospheric changes over the Keihin & Mikuni. Mileage is another advantage the Lectron has. So for guys who don't care about a couple horse drop, it's a great carb. In reality, a lot of guys can loose a few horse & probably both, like their bike more & ride better.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo Jon! Sorry about that dude, but I'm glad you said something. *_I can answer that._* On your CRF250R:
      -Your new Lectron would not have a hot start, and it would also not have any electronics on it like your stock Keihin FCR.
      -You'd just tape up the electrical connections on your bike & zip-tie them up under the tank & out of the way.
      -I like the 4T Lectron as it comes with everything all the way up to throttle assembly with a new billet tube and all.
      I've installed a few 4T Lectron Carbs for customers and the only funky thing is the first start if you haven't done it before. When fuel makes it's way into the engine for the first time, it has to travel down a little hose that requires a little procedure. (Plug two vent lines and blow in the third & the fuel forces it's way into that hose) Then it'll fire right up!
      You can check out some photos of 4T Lectron installed in a 2006 YZ450F I built and got plated for dual-sport use a few years ago! The carb looks sick!
      www.mxrevival.com/product-page/lectron-carburetors-two-four-strokes (third photo in)
      If you end up purchasing one someday, don't add the rod tool to your order. Just tell me it's you in the notes & I'll add one to your order for free.

      Not really but of course he’s gonna advertise the products in his builds...they are sponsors and it’s a sponsored build, it’s kinda the whole point to show people what they can do at home with the same products
