Wow best mod you could do for the money on these cars seriously, it’s night and day going from rubber band shifter to sturdy solid shifting. I used a tiny screwdriver to remove the screws rather than pulling out the seats.

My new baby seems to be missing any kind of intake pipe, so I'll be looking at this again soon. Thanks for the vids dude.

the idea with the rubber bushing is that they absorb some vibration that comes from the gearbox through the cables , at least thats how i see it

Does this apply for a 2001 stock manual 5 speed?

Nice! I added those bushings a while back and really liked them. I believe I also did the cable bushings around the same time. Those two mods plus a short-shifter makes the shifter feel very direct. Way more direct than a stock Miata (no offense to Miatas - great cars). I hate to be all "yo, get these mods, they're the best", but there does seem to be an additive effect going on when you tighten up the shift linkage. Anyway, I enjoyed your video and thanks for uploading!

I made the armrest. I briefly go over it in this video: th-cam.com/video/tkf7D2jgImo/w-d-xo.html

clearer gate, less mis shifting. I had a hard time shifting into second at high revs with my 6 speed.
