Also, replace the forward looking tail camera with one that transmits data. Finally, and I have no idea if anyone makes one, a variometer that can send data to the ground. One last thing, an airplane that size, I thought the Wilga that was towing it was the real thing, at first! At 15+m, that's one big airplane!

Great flight and video....just wondering why the tow-plane didn't have a pilot? I never saw a jet powered glider either. It looked like the pilot was having fun...even though he didn't blink much; maybe sunglasses would of helped. Heading to my local airport to take up soaring!
great vid horst, cannot believe how flexible those wings are !!!!!!!!!!!! the Mobius cams work well don't they m8, nice relaxing video to watch with that music as well,
That has to be seen to be believed Horst! - what a beautiful bird. 20 years ago I used to do a lot of slope soaring and had a similar design glider, though only about6' span - on a good day with thermals as well, it could stay up as long as the flight pack could last! These pattern gliders are very graceful. Super video. :)
Correction. This is the largest toy aircraft that is remote controlled. The Ravn X Autonomous Launch Vehicle is a mammoth aircraft with a wingspan of 60 feet. The 18 feet tall behemoth weighs in at 55,000 pounds. THAT is the largest r/c aircraft in the world ;-)
The wings seem too flexible and not very deep. Wouldn't you get stiffer wings and more maneuverability by just making the wings less long and deeper/wider?
Why does the sailplane have its spoilers out under tow? My guess is it's so much more efficient than the Wilga towplane, it needs the spoilers out so it doesn't catch up and outclimb its own tow!

I think the tow plane was a sight in itself, especially the fabulous landing.
I agree. I found myself looking at it more than the glider.
I was a tugboat captain for 27 years. I immediately gravitated to the towplane...but the combination was awesome.
Which kind of license does this one require to fly? We have to pass written exam and flying test plus plane registration for everything from 2kg MTOW.
That landing pass was amazing. The way it held altitude, even gained from the look of it, as it made the turn was beautiful.
