Hi, Diane. One of the things I like about your journals is you have a good balance of decoration and open areas for me to make the journal my own. I particularly like that on the backs of some of the ephemera you sew on dyed paper for journalling. With these being Victorian journals, my thought was that more decoration would be fine. I say go with your instinct. It's your creativity and vision that have made your channel popular and your journals in demand. By the way, I like that you had scheduled a date and time of when you would post these journals on Etsy.

I don’t buy journals to write in,they are for my collection..l make my own jj to journal in....I like to gesso the pages to tone down the colours I write on,and some decorating makes me happy.Yours are perfect Diane...some decoration ,your pages are well balanced and not boring at all.

I love how you journal and make it your own and leaving a page not decorated is your choice. Tfs

Diane, I love how you are creating your journals now. Glad you are not grunging everything up. You don't have to put a journaling spot on every page. For that book page, it was lovely without the card behind it. Would you possibly do a video showing how you have your work space set up? It seems to have most things at arm's reach. I am setting mine up now and could use the help. Thanks for another lovely video. Take care .

Thanks, Gloria. I would be happy to do a work space set-up video. I'll try to do that soon! Thanks for the idea.

I would like a combination of both writing and collage.

I like some embellishments but not an overload. I put a lot of ‘stuff’ in my journals as I’m not a big writer. Although, I like to use a lot of wordy ephemera to make up for it. I love what you’ve done so far! Can’t wait to see your washi de-stash and other goodies you want to get into your shop.

I think there should be room for journaling, that’s the point. I don’t care for blank, so I would decorate minimally. It seems like it gives it a total look.

I just stumbled across your channel. It’s been very enjoyable to watch a craft I had no idea existed! I can’t quite figure out what is meant by “signature” in this context. Will someone please clear that up for me? Thanks! ☺️

    • @pippipants
      @pippipants 5 ปีที่แล้ว

A signature is a group of pages that are stitched into the book together. They are usually folded in half and stitched on the fold. When you look at a stitched book you can see the thread in the centrefold.
Some journal makers like to hide these threads by putting an envelope in the middle. It's left unglued when it's stitched in and then glued up after the stitching is done.
Or the strings can be left long and have charms or beads added to them.

Some like them blank, some like fully embelished? Maybe offer a naked one, and an embelished one? Or an optional little embelishment envelope? I see several shops doing more naked ones. You could also just print lined paper on the back of the bigger things, clip or put them as a flip, so whomever gets it can write or glue it as they choose?

Thanks for your insight, Sheila! Everyone likes different things, so I guess whatever I decide to do (as far as embellishment), someone will like it!

If like to know how you are going to assemble these covers, but can’t find the video they scrolling. What do you use to hold the book covers together? Also, how do you make lines on the journal pages for journaling? Keep up the good work. Love your channel

Here is a video showing how I construct the covers th-cam.com/video/ns-A6Gj_V2E/w-d-xo.html
I don't make lines on the pages. Sometimes I adhere some lined paper to a page that has pattern or words on it, but it it's a blank page, I leave it blank. I write on the plain pages. Hope this helps.

Can't find those cross stitch rose tags on iralamijash or on the other place you mentioned. Can you advise where you got them?

    • @DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage

I did get those tags from iralamijashop but I just looked and apparently she removed them from her shop. I'm sorry.
