- At $1200, that's 20% more than last shipment, I was expecting something really special but instead, it was just cosmetic. The red wood looks nice but IMHO changes in finishing and colour doesn't make it a "Special Edition".
They should save the term Special Edition for the rifles with real changes like in the Zhuhai Airshow in China. Click the link below. Fit and finishing on the metal are slightly better than before except for the finishing on the wood. Mine had poor application of stain, marks and drips.
The biggest compliant about this shipment is the rattling top handguards. My two rifles moved about 1mm when the rear sight is set at 1 to 4 and 2mm when set at 5. Mine had no impact on function.
Differences: Fixed stocks came with standard pins and LH selectors. Folders came with standard pins and RH selectors. Optic not Readys came with threaded pins and RH selectors.

The WK 181 is an excellent rifle . I was so impressed with mine that I bought another one. I now have two.
I really like it but I already have a saiga and a vz58 and no more room for one

Are these Type 81s rare in the retail market? I see posts online for used models sometimes asking for double the retail price.
No, they are not rare, far from it but they do sell for a premium bcos the main competitor is banned (vz58) and future supply is never certain, at least thats what the dealer lead us to believe.
@@gnutzguy when did the vz/cz58 get banned cause it used to be one of 4 ak ish style guns allowed. Type 81 the semi auto cz/vz 58s but only some models and limited supply the old valmats which are actual ak variants but cost a boat load. And then the sks cause it fires the same cart.

I just don't get it why it has a right side selector for folder even for non optic ready. Other than that it's acceptable. Love my fixed
i agree with you. the only reason why i wasnt vocal about it cos its an extra accessory we didnt have before plus people can trade them.

Hello my friend I just picked one up. Can you explain the gas system. The man at the store said if I don't want to clean it often run the gas on max settings. I'm not sure what he meant. Also is there wiggle on the top hand guard? Please let me know. Thank you in advance
congrats!!! there are no short cuts to cleaning. only set your gas regulator at "2" when your gas system is dirty otherwise always use "1"..... "2" allows more gas thus more recoil.
Hey can you try to do a video installing a fake suppressor can on the type 81. I seen a few people have it but no answer on how to do it.
fake suppressor with or without the grenade launcher? i prefer to take the GL off and put a flash hider.

How we can check the firing pin is working properly without firing a ammunition? Can we use snap cap in it to check firing pin?
simply, remove the bolt and shake it. this one has no spring so it should rattle and the firing pin should protrude about 2mm.

I prefer the blonde wood finish, is it possible to change the color of red wood to blonde ?
easy to change color but i worry about the quality of the wood underneath the red, i suspect its softer wood where as the blonde had hardwood.
Hi @GNutzGuy, do other Com-block bayonets fit on the type 81? The issued Type 81 bayonet is just so ugly I can't stand it.

Hey would you ever consider doing a video on fixing the peened lmg grip screw?
There is nothing to it. Just use a drill bit slightly bigger than 6mm and drill the top end of the grip screw till you reach the nut . That's it.
Hey I dont know if you can help I have a optics ready one and was looking for the side mount and rail that wont brake the bank what do u recommend and is there just a rail I can buy and adapt other makes?

@Gnutzguy hoping you can help me out.. i just got my type 81 special edition optics ready rifle, but the front upper handguard has a horrible up and down wobble, ive taken in apart just to make sure it was seated correctly and it is but the tolerance isnt there.. currently wedged some cardboard between the upper and lower handguard to prevent the wobble, is there a fix?
set your rear sight dial at 1, how much is your movement? if its about 1mm move up and down then its normal. at setting of 5 my is 2mm movement.

T81 never had factory codes but was commissioned by Polytech.
Question would it be possible to install a bolt release like the vz if a small space is milled out of the bottom of the receiver?

it depends on you. if you like to pimp then fixed is the one cos the stock is removeable. if you wanna keep it standard then the folder is pretty sweet. love the folder.

Man, I really want to want one of these as it is the closest to an ak we can reasonably get, but hearing of them being bent and canted sights (i think) really turns me off wanting to pay that much.

Are both of your type 81 have the problem with upper hand guard, noise raised up when you touch hand guard?

Yes and no, better metal, less bend but shitty wood and red finish.
Ti seriously needed to send someone to the factory to oversee things... the sr is a perfect example. One look at the stock and it was obvious it wouldnt last. For the price these should be much better. My folder is bent plus to top it off my bolt hold open block was out of spec it would chamber a round on its own just touching the mag. Now that I got the replacment part and fixed it Im happy but weary to buy another one considering all the issues. How does the 17 folder stack up to youre norinco aks?

im enthused over a canted non-universal AK rail? what gave you that idea? lol.... matter of fact, a CGNer already report the pins became loose in one outing. looks like a blue locktite is a must. still good for most of us but not me.

not yet, we have to keep an eye on it. they may have used an oversize pin and pressed it in so no need to use stakes. im hoping anyways.
Does the picatinny rail fit on the 2019 rifle version
yup. the internal did not change from blonde to red.
Have you had experience with it does it hold a zero after removing and putting back on to clean the rifle?
it should hold zero for field strip cleaning , if it doesnt then probably installed it wrong . there are reports of failure after one trip.
im not a fan of no drill mounts longer term, i dont think it will work.

These rifles are really nice, I'm pretty happy with it. The safety, though, is atrocious. I do agree with your assessment though, "special edition" is definitely pure wank.

@@gnutzguyconsider the rising costs of sks'. 1000 dollars for an entry-level rifle is sadly the new norm.
then therefore, T81 can never be the new sks cos even with the rise in the price. you can still get a decent one for $400.
