I am knitting Arne & Carlos blanket squares and i am doing 4 squares in a circle with 5 stitches between which will be steeped that way I dont have to colorwork on the purl side and its good practice steeking!

Hello Martyn! A suggestion regarding the steek panel - I usually begin my steek panel with the main color and alternate with the CC - for example, I usually set my steeks at five sts (7 for finer yarns) and I start with the main color followed by the CC ending with the MC. This way when it is time to cut you cut the center stitch. Hope this helps for any future steek projects.
    Love your vlogs! Stay well!

    Inquiring minds want to know:
What is the pattern for Jenny's beautiful jumper? And, what is the yarn and colorways?

Steeking is addictive! I just watched to see if there were any tips for the Bubble Cardigan I'm going to make my husband. I didn't even realize there was a pullover version. I think I'll do the newer Bubble Cardigan version steeked too. So much better than those long purl rows.

    There it is!
So fun - I actually wasn't as keen on the steeking and cutting as I was on you and the old footage 🤣
And you did not disappoint! Not with steeking and not with entertaining.
When did you change "watch this space" to "until we speak again"?
You could combine them - "until we speak again - watch this space" hahaha
"Future Martyn" came through at the "fooocuuuuus...." and lots of other bits
So wonderful to have more than two years in one hour that's not easy to do on purpose and you had to do it unintentionally. Great stuff, great jumper!
I have never steeked so far cause there was no pattern that made me want it this way. I did it the other way several times though. So turning something flat into an in-the-round-project just to be able to knit it quicker and avoid seems.
    But that's not spectacular.
I also chuckled at "I will do the steeking and then add the sleeves" or "They postponed the workshop to September" 😆 Who could have known...
Maybe there'll finally be a workshop when you and Stephen meet with your walkers and some chunky yarn for your clumsy old hands.
You will be saying "And that's Thea, my niece, she drove me here today and this *trying to stand up but deciding to stay seated* is my Bubble Cardigan, the reason I wanted to meet you! I started it in 2019 (obviously certain mistakes never leave us) and then the pandemic happend... do you remember, Stephen, you remember?!"
And Stephen replies (a bit in his own world as always) "Bubble... bubble stitch, I looove that stitch. I have everything with this, a hat, a sweater, a blanket, a shawl, mittens, underwear.... You want to see it? Wait, I can...."
    *~*censored*~*
I have to stop now as I laughed so hard it feels like I broke a rib 😂 Hope you have a nice day and until I write again.... you-know-what!
[Just adding my current knits - still the Rowan KAL, square 601.466. Plus YAL1 - fingers like I'm a member of the Blue Men Group. Plus still have not blocked all shwals/cowls waiting for some water. BUT did nice pictures of Calbert and Jasper (finally!) www.ravelry.com/projects/GeorginaG/calbert-the-lady-amherst-pheasant and www.ravelry.com/projects/GeorginaG/jasper-the-resplendent-quetzal if you're interested]

Congratulation👏👏👏👏👏I am so proud of you! What a wonderful cardigan. I was so excited when I saw you cut the steek open and I saw your hand shaking. Gosh it was a thrill...
I have knitted 6 sweaters during the pandemic that I want to steek. But I wasn't brave enough to do it until now. To knit the button band before cutting is a good tip. (? Is this the right word?)
Ok Martyn you did so well so now I'll try it too. Thanks for sharing your experience and the video. And please polish your halo😉😉😉
    P. S. Perhaps one or more snaps are an option

How brave of you!!!! Steeking is something my knitter brain struggles on a daily basis lol I like the end result and would like to give it a try but I still can't bring myself to put sharp scissors to a finished project and zac! open it up like a book. Well done Martyn, your Bubble Cardigan is just gorgeous.

Hi Martyn. What a crime to see you steeking ;) The cardi looks great! I plan to do a fair isle cardigan which is to be steeked too. I don't know if I can trust the crochet stiches. Perhaps I will do it with a sawing machine? And hope not to destroy the whole piece.
But as I saw your courage I think I can do it,...Greetings. Look forward to your next podcast.Hear and see you light up my day. Love it.

    Hi Martyn,
What a beautiful cardigan! It really suits you. I remember my first time steeking a garment. I was horrified before but all went well. As the song goes: "First cut is the deepest", next time will BE a lot easier (I still have a drink before steeking nevertheless). Little tip for the next steeking project: I begin and end the steeking panel with one column of purl stitches, than knit stitches in the middle. It lets the steeking panel stand out a bit more and gives a nice edge for picking up the button bands. Looking forward to your next adventure!

I think I like the shawl pin idea if you decide to do a thing. I liked the up close video view of the steeking . I have heard about it but not seen it. Not sure I am ready for that but maybe one day. Thanks for all the videos you do for us, I so look forward to them. After so many videos in the fall, when the new year came and there were less, I began to miss you at about 10-14 days wondering where you were only to realize you do not usually do so much as this is not your regular job. 😊😱 Keep up the good work. Found you just after you finished Slipstravaganza as I was working on it too.

So what's the pattern on that is that like not supposed to close because it looks two sizes too small I really would probably make three sizes bigger for myself I like something that comes together in the middle where is that I can wrap one piece over the other is that supposed to be an open cardigan because I wouldn't wear that it really looks tight on you tight tight tight beautiful work but maybe for somebody like your mate👌🏻💕❤️😍🙄

The cardigan looks really good. For a closure, how about a bobble or two on one band and a loop (or two) that is partially under the other band. I wouldn't do more than three and just a top closure.

So of course we know it survived the process, we knew it was a success, but still held by breath while you cut! Your color choices are elegant and excellent. When Mark's argyle jumper is finished, it would be so great to see a portrait of the two of you together. For some reason, I feel those 2 will look better together than you each in your own bobble sweaters! Regardless, this is a beautiful finished objects and looks great on you. Happy weekend.

You’re so much fun to watch! And, yes, I have a better understanding and courage to steek something now. I vote for buttons all the way down the band. You can then close the sweater wherever you think it looks and feels good. I think you’ll wear it more often because it has a bit more of that traditional construction to it. Cheers Martin!
