Sony A7R V Firmware Update (v2.02), How to Update

- Upgrade your Sony A7R V to the latest firmware (v2.02) and unlock new benefits and improvements!
This step-by-step guide ensures a smooth update process. In the video, it would be easier to follow. But you could use the following as a guide.
Preparation:
* Ensure sufficient battery: At least 51% charge is recommended, but a fully charged battery is ideal.
Checking Current Version:
1. Power on your camera and navigate to the Menu.
2. Scroll down to the "Setup" icon and select it.
3. Within "Setup," locate "Setup Option" and choose "Version."
4. The current firmware version will be displayed. Proceed with the update only if it's lower than 2.02.
Formatting the Memory Card:
1. Go back to the main menu and navigate to the "Camera" or "Shooting" icon.
2. Select "Media" and then choose "Format."
3. Ensure Slot 1 is selected and perform a quick format.
4. Once formatted, turn off the camera.
Downloading the Firmware:
1. Head over to Sony's Support website: www.sony.com/electronics/supp...
2. Download the firmware file and extract it. You'll find a file named "BODYDATA.DAT".
Transferring the Firmware File:
1. Connect your formatted memory card to your computer using a card reader or the camera's SD card slot.
2. Locate the downloaded "BODYDATA.DAT" file.
3. Drag and drop this file to the root directory of your memory card.
Updating the Camera:
1. With the memory card containing the firmware file inserted in Slot 1, power on your camera.
2. Navigate back to "Setup" icon then to "Setup Option" then to "Version".
3. The "Software Update" option should now be available (no longer greyed out). Select it.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update. The camera will automatically restart during this process.
Finalization:
* After the camera restarts, a confirmation screen will appear indicating successful update completion. Press OK.
* Installing the Creator App on your phone, as mentioned in the video, is entirely optional.
Congratulations! Your Sony A7R V is now running on firmware v2.02.

Do you notice a difference?
It's telling me that the updated file version in incorrect so it doesn't allow me to upgrade my firmware and I followed your instructions step by step.
I never install Ver. 2.01, it won't be a problem, right? I went from 2.0 to 2.02
Can we format memory cart after update ?

Thank you for the video. On 2.02 When viewing images in playback mode there is a icon overlay that is virtually telling you if you press the playback button again while you're in that mode you can go back to shooting. Um... It's a professional camera, why does one need an distracting icon to tell them that they can go back to shooting by pressing a playback button when one can just press the shutter button. Is there any way to get rid of that distracting icon? Sometimes it covers up one of my subjects eyes. And it really kills the vibe when showing clients photos you have taken.
