I was thinking the same thing the other day. I’d prefer the Tundra/Sequoia platform with the 5.7 though. I test drove a tundra with one recently, it was incredible.
@@mwatercress I'm with you. I'd pay top dollar for a newly designed small frame extended cab long bed 4x4 pickup the same size as the 88-90 ones. They could even make something that lightweight like that electric or hybrid. I had one of those with a 7 foot bed and got-damn I loved that truck. It finally rusted out so bad I sold it to some kid for $1000 who wanted to fix it up over time. It's frustrating that Toyota went the way of the big 3 and inflated all their truck platforms beyond reason to the point where there's so much wasted material just for looks and luxury. So many tradesmen would buy a fuel efficient small frame pickup or van built on that platform. It would make an insane adventuring platform. I was starting to get some hope when Honda starting putting out their retro 125s, and the little Hunter Cub made my heart happy. Now if they'd just put out a new Honda Element.

Congrats on the new rig!!! White is perfect color for hiding those pin stripes you’ll get out there! Glad to see you made it to Browns camp. I’m not putting a rooftop tent on my 4Runner either. I like the minimalism of not having one, less weight in worst place-on top, significantly better fuel economy without it, and less shit to get caught in the trees. I also feel like 75% of roof top tents you see out there will soon be at a yard sale near you. 😂.
Oh definitely. It seems like more money people bolt on their rigs the less they want to use them. I certainly earned some of those stripes on this trip.

For years I've had the same goal, save up and get a house. Been doing good on saving but as the years have gone on, it has become increasingly clear, like you said, that it's going to be impossible, just too expensive. It's a bad feeling because I really wanted a house and giving up the idea felt like a loss in a way, but I let it go and have come to terms with it. I came to the same conclusion as you, I don't want to get locked in and stuck. I like the idea that I can move at will, that's my new plan. I'm going to start off in the upper Midwest and then move to the mountain region, and then maybe down to the high desert and so on. Lots of places to explore and not get bored. Good to hear everything's going well for you. Glad to have you back.
@@IntoTheMystery13 Not traveling yet, I'm still in the working and saving money phase of my plan. My goal is to not have to work anymore and I'm almost there, just need some more time to save to hit my goal, but the countdown for me leaving the rat race for good has begun. I have a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 and that's going to be my travel vehicle. I'm going to get a rooftop carrier to haul tools, a shovel, bucket, stuff like that and just the minimum stuff on the inside, like a fridge, battery bank, sleeping area, you know. I should clarify that I'm not going to be living in my vehicle full time. I'll have enough money saved where I can have an apartment and still travel. What I meant in my earlier post was that I will live in one state for a while, and when the lease is up after a year, move to another state and so on. I want to go out on 2 or 3 week long trips per month or so, and explore each state as much as I can while living in each one. Dude, I was looking at Utah and there's so many amazing places to go, I was blown away. Not the touristy stuff either, the stuff where you need a 4x4 to get to and away from people. I believe nature is healing and my soul is deeply craving to get in it and be healed after a lifetime of of soul-sucking, groundhog day, mind-numbing, hamster wheel, vicious cycle of eat-sleep-work. lol, anyway sorry for that long answer.

It only tows up to 5,000 pounds so my options are pretty limited. There are options though.
