    One thing I would add: on Rexes (possibly other creatures, not sure), a mutated stat is much less likely to mutate than an unmutated stat. From what I could tell, it appears that the odds of getting a mutation on a mutated stat are between 10% and 20% of the odds of a mutation on a non-mutated stat. So in that way, the game DOES remember which stats are mutated. This doesn't seem to be the case for gigas, but is DEFINITELY the case for Rexes and Theri's. The devs probably did this because rexes are the usual boss tame.

    What's the best strategy to get the initial mutation? Breed the same two Dinos until a mutation appears or should you keep breeding down the bloodline until they start to mutate?

  • @MADhorseKD
    @MADhorseKD 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Question:
    Should you have multiple males that got a positive mutation increase. Do you just breed out a side female line to more easily work the stats into the main Stud?
    Or do you just slap them all into the females again, hoping you get an 'all good stat pre mutations' + mutations gains stud?

    If you wanna mutate stats infinitely you should mention: keep your females clean (0/20) to avoid messing up somewhere down the line; breed your dino's until you get exactly the same stats on both a male and a female before mutating. So when if you breed your mutated male with your clean females and you hatch a mutated female, you can breed the mutated female with your clean male you hit first until you get the mutation passed onto a male. Then you replace your previously mutated male with the fresh one, and store away the clean male you used to pass the mutation onto a male dino. Keep the clean male tho as you will always have to repeat this process whenever you hatch a mutated female, to keep your massbreeding females clean & 0/20 (:

    • @stuntman014
      @stuntman014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if I made a clean breeding pair with the combined stats of the wild tamed creatures and they are both 0/20, does that mean when I have mutated stats, I am using the same original breeding pair I started with to keep getting males?
      So like a level 280 breeding pair and every time I mutate I use the 280 females to breed throughout the entire process?

    • @SpeedpekaVEVO
      @SpeedpekaVEVO 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stuntman014 yes. Always keep/use your 'base' females (aka your starting point, with merged unmutated stats).
      Every time u get the mutation u want, if it's a male perfect, if it's a female breed it with your 'base' male until you get a male with the mutated stats, then put that with your base females again.
      Also note that you want to keep mutated stats seperately until you're satisfied with their stats; so if you wanna mutate health and damage you need two separate areas to do so, and both need to have base females. If not you will hit that 20 mutation 'cap' (not a hardcap, just alot more rare to get more mutations after that) and therefor prolong the whole process even further

  • @Florence00pi
    @Florence00pi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    best video on the subject I have seen so far and you didn't promise too much in the beginning. What would be interesting for me (the lazy) viewer (I am only interested in stats here not colors ;-) would be a sort of step by step guide (or more in depth) on how you actually plan and execute the breeding. If I understood things correctly, let's say I want to breed that super Rex:
    1. find good wild Rexes with high single stats and so forth, combine the stats into a "superdino" who has all the good rolls (and is mutation free).
    2. create a male from this and many many females (who all have the same stats/lvl/and 0 muations)
    3. Do incest reverse gangbangs with them over and over and hope for mutations.
    4. when a mutation occurs, create a male with that (or those) mutations, leave the females as they are.
    5. go back to step 3. but your new mutated male now get's to do all the dinoloving with the unmutated mother and aunts.
    6. rinse and repeat and repeat and repeat .....
    More in depth description on step 4 would be nice, maybe tips and tricks, how you plan it and so forth. I am guessing the more different stats you have mutated the harder it gets to create that new male every time (for 1 stat you have a 0.55 chance, with 2 stats it's 0.55 x 0.55, with 3 stats it's 0.55 x 0.55 x 0.55 and so on).
    Also another question is if there is a limit to how far you can push this (i.e. is there an absolute max level a dino can have or can it go on endlessly)?
    Thanks for the great vid!

    • @mozelac
      @mozelac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Florence00pi hi! So for step 4, since a mutation has a 50/50 chance to still be passed down I try to keep extra males of the current “stud” in on. For example if I have 10 mutations on a male and they pass and mutate to 11 on a female. Well I have a similar copy of the male to breed that female with until I get a male baby with the mutated stat. Then I can throw that male back into the 0mutation female pile and continue. I’ll then keep a second male that hatch with the same exact stats in case I get another female.
      I hope this helps

    • @mozelac
      @mozelac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the second question; it depends. In official there is a limit to Dino levels. It’s 450, so you wanna stop mutating before 379 so that when you pump stats it’ll stay below 450. On unofficial & solo there is no level limit. So you can go until you’re bored!

    • @slader-hl1kk
      @slader-hl1kk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Max level on official is 450 that's after you put the 73 or whatever points in if it's over 450 it will disappear within a month usually a week I just start low when your first getting your Dino's with the same stats/ levels keep the ones with the lowest level alot of them will come out at 260 even higher if both parents were 224s perfect tame 99.9% anywaysbut sometimes there are some born 224 or even lower start with them instead of 260+ gives you 20-40 extra mutations in the long run

    3 Things:
    1. you are being followed. This is BY FAR the most informational video on this topic I have ever seen.
    2. When you say at 20:45 that an under 20/20 parent can further mutate a 20/20 parents stat, you mean that the new 21/20 is inherited by the baby, right? It's not actually mutating the parent itself or is it? Because that would be FUCKING weird.
    3. Are mutations always passed on? Or is it possible to breed them out?
    Reason I ask: I mostly get mutations along the way to getting all good stats into one dino, and I'd like to have a "pristine" top-stat pair of parents first. Then again, if I understand your 20:45 part correctly, it wouldnt matter. I could just happily breed them into one another and always keep the highest possible male, because even if he'd have 20/20 of random mutations (lets say 5/20 oxygen, 10/20 food and 5/20 stamina), he could still go on mutating HP and Melee as long as I breed him into non-20/20 females.
    I hope my questions are clear because I'm no native english speaker.

    first thing i thought of when he said its "buggy" was Its not Buggy ITS A FEATURE! =d , But in all honesty I REALLY found your video helpful even though its 3 years old. This is by far the best video out there. some constructive suggestions: maybe put a small segment on how to build the optimal breeding structure. I.e since the mating range is a sphere how i could get the most female rexes to breed with the 1 stud rex. I get that that isnt the point of this video but im sure that theres an optimal build and method to it. Like for example using baby females in the breeding space to fit more rexes since they are smaller and you can compact more in one area. etc either way thumbs up and subbed.

    so my current set up is breeding back the mutation to the parent that has 0/0 like you said is okay i guess but not the best way to go about it. so lets say i get babies that have the mutated stats. 1 male and a bunch of females. i keep breeding those together then? i get babies from those whom have mutated then repeat the cycle? is there a cap on the ancestry line?

    Does the invisible speed stat actually boost the speed of the dino but without showing on the stat screen? Or doesn't it affect it at all except negatively, wasting levels etc.?

    • @GrahamRomero
      @GrahamRomero 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't impact the speed of the dino. To the best of my knowledge only imprinting and leveling up speed increases its movement speed.
      You could consider them "wasted" but because of the higher level as a baby technically it has higher torpor, or could be considered a "vanity stat" (you'd have a higher level dino by breeding it in). But note that a tamed level 450 dino will despawn, so there is an upper bound.

  • @Aapjuhh
    @Aapjuhh 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Am i doing it right:
    0/0Male + 0/0Females > 1/0Male
    swap 0/0Male with 1/0Male
    1/0Male + 0/0Female > 2/0Male
    swap 1/0Male with 2/0Male
    ...etc...etc...
    Also:
    at this point im getting varied level differences
    0/0=150, 1/0=152, 2/0=154, 3/0=156.. etc..
    the babies that hatch during 3/0 breeding session have level ranges from 150/152/154/156 thats fine right till i get my 158?
    doesn't that mean that as things go on and level will wildly vary it will be rarer and rarer to get a 2lvl increase as stats will vary more and more apart from the baseline? is it because im not going after a single stat but any i can get? making it harder/longer?

  • @pierce17
    @pierce17 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks however I have two problems 1. Do levels matter? As you didn't touch on that and I would like to know,as if I tame a lvl 150 dino it will become a 225 and I heard that the offspring gets 1-2 extra levels because of the stat mutation. Anyhow if I tame a lvl 115 dino and it becomes a 190. What level would the offspring have? 2. Who would have the resources and time to do this if your on singleplayer? or keep getting raided. Despite that how can you hold that many dinos for breeding and does the level matter for the female 0/20 dino? However this the best video on breeding for ark I seen so far.

  • @Shinygati
    @Shinygati 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So im a bit confused about one thing, do all of the mutations have to be male AND mutated from only the fathers side or can i just keep all the babies that mutate whether they're male or female and just breed them later with the baseline mother that's 0/0 , 0/0 on both sides and still get more mutations?

  • @kittysgomeoww
    @kittysgomeoww 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    so do i swap my original male stud with male offsprings that get mutations until eventually i have a final male offspring with every mutation then i keep him forever and just keep breeding him into females so all his mutations will just keep stacking forever. or does my original male stud with no mutations inherit mutations from females just by breeding with them and you dont ever swap him out with a new male offspring. idk if it works that way.

    • @TheBlastMage
      @TheBlastMage 5 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Cinnamongod
    @Cinnamongod 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video but there is one major point of confusion. You kept using an example of xx/20 instead of xx/20 and xx/20. Say I have a Rex with 8/20 and 13/20 in its tree. Can a baby of these Rex's get a mutation if you have an identical pair? Does the mutation counter happen first or does the mutation happen first?

  • @zevalin
    @zevalin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @consolitude You should mention the hard cap at 255 points per stat in all dinos and why you should stay at 254. Even though few if any are hitting that number in official, alot of people watching this probably play private servers with increased rates

  • @tommyw5332
    @tommyw5332 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had no idea a parent could mutate the stats of the other parent -- that basically means you can keep mutating a stat indefinitely, which is pretty awesome. I still think keeping separate stat blood lines is the best way to go starting out, because usually you're only after HP/Melee, with weight and stam as extra considerations. Splitting the line up, when you still have mutation free parents will get you to 20/20 faster, as long as you have the 0/20 female numbers to support multiple line breeding (double the chance of getting a mutation). This concept is even more important for dinos like daedons, where you typically only really care about the food stat (at least for base static daedons).

    • @Cinnamongod
      @Cinnamongod 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Focusing on certain stats like HP/Melee only matters on Official. It is irrelevant on unofficial and single player. I just wanted to point this out for others reading your post.

    does level matter a lot on females, like if i have rex who was max level male before taming (level increased after tame). Breed it with all females (don't care about level) or try getting max level tamed as male?

    This video was very helpful in explaining mutation stacking, so as far as my understanding goes:
    you need 1 super male dino and as many non-mutated females
    breed until you get a dino with mutated increased stats
    breed new mutated dino with super dino
    you now have a super dino with higher stats
    replace old super with new super
    repeat
    If this isn't the way you need to go to have a better super dino then please correct me.
    Also before this video I somehow managed to get an argy with a melee stat point of 1 which is hilarious. I was wondering whether how rare of a percentage it is to get a dino that inherits neither parents stats

      yeah thats how i understood it as well. but having a mutation is pretty rare. having the rarely occouring mutated dino also inherit ALL THE STATS from the stud father is extremely unlikely :/

    Awesome video!!! So we only want to breed mutated males with nonmutated females, or females below 20? Am I getting that right? Also if we are finished with a line of mutations for the time being and want to breed out a line of copies, should we use a nonmutated female, or a female with the copy of the mutated stats?

    If I breed a male with 25/20 on 1-side and 40/20 on the other and breed it with a 0/0 female will I still be able to get mutations or is it only possible when the male has 0/20 on at least 1-side? So for example 0/20 on the left and 200/20 on the right

    Wait, so is a parent's mutation score just it's patrilineal+matrilineal mutation scores combined? so if I have a rex with 0 matrilineal but 197 patrilineal, it can't mutate it's partner's stats?

    • @Asipowers
      @Asipowers 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thomasshear4126 tl;dr: breed until you get a male and as many females as you wish with the same stats but without any mutation. this is where mutation farm starts: breed until you get a mutation. if male keep it and replace your original male. if female and you wish to keep the mutation breed it with your original male until you get a male with the mutation. replace the orginial male with that new mutated male. keep doing that and you're fine. always keep the original male as a backup in case you screw up

    lets say you have 2 rexes, One with 2 meele and 2 Oxi mutations and one with 2 meele and 2 health mutations would you breed them together even when the result would be 8/20 with 2 meele 2 oxi and 2 health mutations? i mean like this you reach 20/20 much faster and cut your chances in half much earlier, wouldnt it be better to first get to 20/20 step by step and then use your method? do i understand something wrong?

    What do you think finaly about break mutation cap. Better to mate with male with over mutation with lot of female 1-19/20 mutation for try female mutation with good stats on male or mating top stat male with 0-19 mutation with the stats you want on 0/20 female ?
    it's 50-50% to get the best stats from parents now so i think two solution are the same in finaly. but hard to get choice. What do you think ?

    Found a new sub, thanks for the great video. Me and my wife play together and though we wouldn't mind getting super stat dino's but we are more of the color collectors. Does it matter what color patterns the mother and father have to better the chance of a color mut.?
    Say we have fresh tamed parents that are almost identical in color schemes, do they have better chances of rolling different colors? Or does having 2 wildly different colored parents matter?
    Your video clearly says this is purely RNG with a hint of control, but we would love to know if we could better our odds. Thanks in advance.

    • @consolitude6156

      Color mutations are pure RNG and nothing has any factoring in to what colors you will receive, unfortunately. It's a roll of the dice every time!

    So if you get a male with 0/20mat 40/20pat and you breed it with a female 0/20mat 40/20pat you still have a chance at getting a mutation?

  • @HpG_SnakeEyEs
    @HpG_SnakeEyEs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So question. When you start with 0/0 male 220 rex with a matching 0/0 female 220 rex. All stats are the same. And the male get a mutation stat into melee. Now you have a baby male at 222 with 1/0. It's melee went from 485.3 to 503.2. If you breed it back to the mom (220 0/0) you have 5 out of 6 stats matching and a 2 LVL difference. This makes out babies to have a 45% chance to not have have the stat mutation because it took the 220 0/0 female melee and it's LVL fluctuates from 220, 221, and 222. What do i do? I don't remember this being covered in the video.

    • @likethatidea9899
      @likethatidea9899 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay so you had your 00 females and the males with mutations what if you did the opposite for a separate pen and made the males 00 and the females breeding over mutations and then combined those after you got major mutations on both sides would it carry over that way

  • @jasonhenderson8067

    How would you have a Dino with all six stats being high like you explain here from the breeding? Aren’t the stats based on a point system where you are limited to how many points would be placed into the total stats? Does that no longer apply with breeding?

    • @mozelac
      @mozelac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wild Dino’s pass on their stats when bred. They have a 50:50 chance for each stat. So you just keep breeding until you combine all the higher stats into one male and one female. Then you continue breeding for more, unmutated female to start the process of getting mutations.
      You are only limited on point when leveling Dino’s - not breeding. Unless you play official servers; they have a level cap of 450 making 379 the highest mutation level you can get to

    Hi great vid I have a question I'm breeding dire wolves getting mutations but not seeing any stat increases in the area I want them In will that mutation line ever change to the stats I'm looking for or am I to start over with my originals till I see that stat go were I want it ? I currently think it's going into weight and speed possibly food will that line ever convert to melee and health or best to start fresh till I see heath and melee?

    • @mozelac
      @mozelac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would discard any stats you don’t want, unless you potentially want their color for another Dino, and keep trying for the stats you do want to continue your line. But that’s just how I do it. A tribe mate of mine keeps everything and just let em stack mutations always breeding back to 0/0 dinos to insure new mutations are seen no matter the x/x of the mutated parent

  • @efeozturk5253
    @efeozturk5253 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    then you should be able to mutate a single stat more than 20 times?

  • @ujustinree2987
    @ujustinree2987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So with your strategy I would have:
    Male Rex with all mutations, we'll say all the stats are around 80 currently.
    Female Rex with no mutations, we'll say all the stats are around 45.
    Now I breed those together, I understand that the female can mutate the male rex, although with a 55% chance of failure because the male is above 20 mutations. But wouldn't I also need to be lucky in getting all desired stats(from the male rex)?
    Say I wanted to focus melee, stamina, and health. I get a mutation on health, but I get the worse stamina stat from the female. Is this just lost or is there something I can do to correct this?

    Hi, sweet video mate I have been trying to do this with my troodons, but I seem to be getting the same mutation! I have 1 male and 10 0/0 females all with identical stats, the male is 4/20 on patrilineal side, but all 4 mutations is in oxygen. Is this just bad luck or am I doing something wrong?
