This was great for a quickie wondering if you will do some follow up videos that go a bit further in depth on the stages and then maybe one on how to stack mutations
There was some stuff you missed like the importance of having like 50 or more perfect females or how its different with level 5 females and how to get the plus to levels bc if the parents dont have the same stats and same lvl it wont get plus 2 lvls per mutation also you should have included some form of lining up the dinos or making them float but you still covered alot of the main stuff good job
i finally got a mutation. spino that was born at a higher level than both parents were tamed as. not that good of a level, only 142. but both parents were tamed under 129.... and that level was achieved after perfect taming. feelsgood. purely random though. bred like 6 spinos already.
Great vid, if you don't me asking 2 questions: 1. What amount of points allocated into a stat is ideal to start breeding for mutations. I get it, the more the better but would 40 base points be a good start? 2. If I'm looking for those best base stats, do I just focus on lvl 150 or would lvl 135+ be smarter?
Typically 40 base points is the minimum amount you want if you're going to breed. Taming higher levels just increases the chance that more points are put into said stat, so u always stick to 140+ really trying to find those 150s though
Stat match the babies then breed them until you get a lvl increase check what stat increastheif its the desired stat breed it with the parent recommended to use a male because you can breed it with a heap of females at a time to increase chances of mutation faster if you use females its alot slower process Great video
Great vid! I feel like I finally understand mutating but jeeeez do I not have the patience/determination to do it right xD I usually just breed a lot and hope to get lucky then start using the strongest pair as the parents.
I'm not sure if you are gonna see this but I have a question. at 4:36 how did you get a line of clean females to breed with the mutated male? is it by breeding your 2 best stat clean male and female a lot to get a line of perfect stat clean females or something else? I'm just kinda confused. sorry
This was the Aha! explanation on mutation stacking for me. "A parent can mutate a stat on the other parent. If a Dad mutates (meaning his Mutation Score goes up by 1) a stat on the Mom can go up by +2 instead of one of the Dad's stats. A mutation is not inherently guaranteed to actually mean an increase on the dino that gained the Mutation Score. So you always want one line (usually the female) to have zero mutations or as few as possible under 20. That way even if the male has 20/20 he can still pass on a mutation because he can still gain mutations as long as both the male and female side does not go to 20/20 you can stack infinitely. There is a level cap but you can breed a lower level to the mutant to transfer the mutations but keep the lower level stats. It is also ideal to min/max all your tames other stats so you don't spend any points on useless ones. It's pretty easy once you see how that works but this process is INCREDIBLY time consuming costs considerable food resources and you will have hundreds of tames all over the place. Good to be aware of that if you want to attempt this, cause once you see how long it's gonna take you're probably not going to bother. It can also be frustrating seeing the 300th useless tame in a row come out wasting Sooooo much of your real life time. Unless you're starting on a fresh server probably not even worth it because you can just buy or trade established breeders for OP tames and single players can get along more than fine without mutations.
Same I got a 145 male took hours because it would randomly reset for no reason, said screw it and got a level 15 female and just breed until I got identical states as the male
Great video, but you forgot some things. Like there is a lvl. cap for the dino, which is 450 DON'T GO ABOVE. But there is a solution for That if you have the perfect stats for giga (best HP, stam, weight, melee) Then breed in a lvl. 1 giga's oxigen, food or movement speed. (or a lvl. 5 creature which has 0 points on That stat what you need). This is important if you mutate 4 stat. 1 mutations is 2 lvl. So 20 mutations will be 40 lvl. for your creature. Which is a LOT. And if you mutate 4 stat to 20 stack it will be 160 extra lvl. for your creature And later you have to put the 88 lvl. somewhere on your creature (the XP lvl.) AAAAND there is the mutagen which is extra 20 lvl. which totally will be 268 lvl. on your creature. And if I am right that's the max point you can get on your creature. So yeah if you mutate 3 (or 4) stats to 20 stack it's important. I Don't know why people saying mutating is Hard, maybe complex, but not Hard. It's Just takes a long time. Tooooo looooooong timeeeeee. But it's so amazing, you can turn a very bad creature (like araneo) into a decent creature. I mean, you know how weak They are. But I mutated them and they was eable to take Down the megapithecus on áll lvl. (yes, on alpha too). If you Don't belive me I have a bad footage on it. (Not promo, Just a lot of people said to me That I am stupid and araneo are unable to do such a thing.
Also how to get a lvl. 1 creature without cheat in survival: Go and upload an egg, bring it to an another server and bring it Back. (works in single player too, Just bring the egg to an another single player, Then bring it Back. (example.: Island to scorched earth, Then Back to Island.)
@@D3STRUCTOR_ could you please explain mutation stacking to me? i've watched so many vids and it's all very confusing. am i meant to stack one stat up to 20 then try and breed a diff one on somehow? or do i go for 1 mutation in health then get a baby that has the same 1 mutation in health and say a new 1 mutation in damage then put that one in? i've been playing this game for years now and mutation stacking has always confused me and made Alpha content hell. Thanks :)
@@jacobniemann4756 Correct! Every stat you are mutating you have to mutat them in separately Then, let's Say 20HP 20Stamina 20 Weight and Then 20 Melee. And Then you have to breed them together. Way to mutate: get strong stats what you need of. Then breed those strong stats together The perfect creatures must be equal lvl. If you want to make 80 mutations, that's the max really if the 450 max lvl. Thing is turned on., but to achive That you have to lower useless stats, oxi, food, movement speed. You basicly have to breed in like a lvl 5's stat. If you want 4 stats to mutate Then you will have 4 male and 24 female breeding, Just do it in different place like:HP 1male 6 female, Stam 1 male 6 female etc. It's better if a male baby gets the mutations, but a female can to! You just have to brees over the mutation into a male with a help of a perfect male Then continue the progres. You got the mutation stacks, you breed them together into a pair of creatures Then breed those together and get the baby mutated creature, imprint up and boom, you have an ultimate creature.
what happens if im breeding snow owls and i have 6 stam mutations on the fathers side and i get one on the mothers side so it will be 6-1 mutations, will it still be fine to breed? or would it mess up the mutations?
Here I am getting excited for my first mutation, which are twins, on the first breeding pair, for the stat that I didn't want and are both female. Thanks RNGesus.
Could you breed a maxed out mutations dino with a earlier dino or new tamed one to reset mutations? Or will the baby inherit all the mutations even if one parent doesn't have any?
So, I think breeding a maxed out mutation with a lower level dino, or an unmutated one helps to reset the counter on one side, the unmutated side. And breeding with lower level dinos is only to bring down the level so your dino does not disappear from the server, since the level is capped at 450, I believe. In pve I don't know if the same thing happens. Hope it helps, I'm still trying to grasp it. I wish all games were like this, I love mixing and mutations and breeding, hybridizing... It's so fun!
Excellent video as always. I encourage any ARK player to try breeding mutations if, for not other reason, than to come to the conclusion that it's a massive, MASSIVE, time sink. You could, literally, play through every official ARK map solo, before getting far enough down the line to make a big difference. That being said... there's a couple of ways to help speed things up if you are willing to look for a server that hosts a mod which allows you to "mutate" your dino's. I personally like S+ as the mutator has a pretty hefty cost associated with using it (well.. before element became trivial in Gen 2 that is). Good luck with ur mutants!
@@therealyoda6172 Yeap. I've logged over 2k hours in Ark and I tried the whole mutation thing at the start. My buddy showed it to me .. after 3 days I just took all my Dino's from the mutation process and dumped them in the ocean to be eaten. I was sooooo over it. Base chance of 7.31% and then it has to be in the right stay and it has to be a male if u plan on stacking them. Huge waste of time
@@therealyoda6172 yea. If u are playing solo.. just adjust the dino tamed level up stats to get what I want. For example .. if u want more damage.. just increase it in the configs by 50% or 10%... Or 10000%. Up to you. Easier than breeding.
This's a great tutorial! Thank you for explaining this complicate topic to my smol brain. But I have some question. First, I have to got a perfect M and perfect F. Then breed both and wish for a mutated one then breed with their parent to be able to surpass 20 cap limit. Am I right or not? If not pls correct me. Thank you so much again for your tutorial.
Old video, but the only thing worth mentioning is to never go to 255 in one Stat because then you won't be able to level that Stat so depending on if you start even or odd your max is 253 or 254
im catching on to this slowly but still struggling to understand how do you get to 255 stat points when it can only mutate 20 times ? this is only 40 stat points.... are u able to explain plz.
I finally understand now so you get two max wild creature who have the best stats then you breed them to one another and you hope that once you breed these two you get a male whos stats mutate to melee or health then you change the father with the son and its a repeat until you get all the mutations you want but once you get a better male you just keep switching them out
This concept of breeding is 3 or 4 years old. If you put the effort in upfront to create a line of (-1) mutation count females, you can breed continuously without ever increasing your mutation count on your mutated offspring
I was about to say "use dododex for wild stat calculations, it says what has extra stat points in a specific stat" but as i started, you said to use it so yeah
I'm still confused even after what you said. Both my parents are 150 but i get babies like 162 lvl 144 lvl, but no mutations. Either I'm going crazy or the fear evolved update has changed something in official servers for which I'm getting weird levels.
If your parents aren't identical it could be that the higher leveled ones are getting all the good stats and the lower are getting all the lower stats, resulting in a difference for total levels
I have 2 stat mutations on 2 baby argys Health on the Matrilineal side and Melee on the Patrilineal Side, how do I stack both on their own side? Plus I’m trying to convert both Melee and Health stats together. I’m so behind on the Genesis stuff don’t know a single thing about mutagen lol here’s what I’m trying to do Matrilineal 20/20 Health | Patrilineal 20/20 Melee how do I stack both stats together on a lvl 212 Argy once both mutation sides are cap. 20/20
very good, but also very basic. expanding on this.. you also should keep each stat mutation in its own line and only combine once the desired mutations are done on that stat. such as have a male for each stat you want mutated. and while one male is maturing the females can still breed with the other line. Keep up the great videos.
No, you shouldnt. If you only want to mutate 2 stats, you can do it until you reach 20 mutations on the male. But with 3 stats you have a higher chance for a useful mutation when you have all stats on the same male, even if you have over 20 mutations on the male.
@@t.rolltbeimir6622 wait a second here, you says that you stack mutations you want in one and only one male all together? so you only have one male with its females? because i dont do like this, i have one male and all its females for EACH stats i want to mutate to 20. Am i doing something wrong here? Thanks mate.
@@oOHiggsFieldOo yes i have one male with all mutations and only females with 0 mutations. Bc of that the mutation count on my male is over 20 and i can only get a mutation from the mother. That means i have only half the chance for a mutation. But if you do separate lines and breed you have an even lower chance bc you need to get an mutation on the exact stat. For example: most of the time you have 7 stats. 7 from the mother and 7 from the father. So if you have a dmg line and want to mutate the dmg you have a chance of 2/14 that you get an useful mutation. And that for every separate line and if only one parent has the good dmg its a 1/14 chance. If you want to mutate atleast 3 stats, you shouldnt do it. Bc even if you only have the good stats on the male, you have an 3/14 chance to get an useful mutation. And even with only 2 stats you have the same odds like separate lines: 2/14, without the hassle to stay under 20 mutations.
@@t.rolltbeimir6622 many thanks for clarifications, i think i got it and yeah it makes sense. will try your method for my wolves because i have 3 different lines at the moment. also just last question, i currently have 16/20 mutations father side on a male Giga. how far can i go with it, i can fill the 20/20 father side, but after that can i also fill the 20/20 mother side with 50% less chance or that won't work and i will be stuck with 20/20 father side. and how does that work for other dinos where you combine at the end mutated stats, will it take all mutated stats regardless of mutations counter being maxed? is that working like that? again, many thanks, this system is somewhat not easy to master.
Love your videos! I will say however that I think alittle more time and in depth info would be nice. I know there are many out there who have mutation guides but it’s a complicated process and a quick guide is not what I’d say most players need. Good choice on dinos tho
Hey! First of all, great guide man! But i still got a question. My clean pair got a male baby 4 lvl's higher (using mutator) but the mutation is on the patrilineal side. So I don't use this one to breed back right?
I think I would understand it better if there was a family tree type thing going on here. I'm sure you covered everything but I'm a visual learner and I had trouble with the clean dad and clean mom part
I've have breed my x-allos over one year now. I needed to breed down the other stats . I'm close to lv 500 and got 100 hp points and 175 dmg points. Crazy allos for sure.. to bad I can't use them for something.
If I have this correct Tame high level dinos 145-150 keep taming them and keep taming them Now pick your best male and female that has the best hp and melee out of them all (without adding levels these don’t count) Breed these two together until you get a pair of babies with the exact same stats (if they have a mutation don’t use these) Now you breed the identical stat babies together until you get a baby with a mutation You then breed the baby with the mutation back to the identical stat mum or father until you get a baby with 2 mutations Males are better because you can breed one baby male when grown to all the previous identical stat mothers Then it’s rinse and repeat again
So as an example in order to I’ll use numbers to explain Farther 1 Mum 1 Identical baby 1 male Identical baby 2 female Breed Identical baby 1 Identical baby 2 Until you get a mutation Breed the mutated male back to the identical stat mothers until you get a baby with 2 mutations Breed baby with 2 mutations back to the identical stat mums until you get a baby with 3 mutations Breed the baby with 3 mutations back to the identical stat mums until you get a baby with 4 mutations Keep doing this process

Props to anyone that does this but that is so much more effort than i'm willing to put into breeding haha
Hope this is useful to others though. Raas puts so much effort into his videos for us
Ya way to much effort thus system need a to be made easier and have an in-game tutorial
Amazing video.
Short, sweet and to the point.
Thank you
This might be the only finally fully understood video out of the 4 other videos I watched
This really helps, if I’m being honest I have a deinonychus that’s albino and I plan on spreading it
Every tutorial I’ve watched on mutations has been confusing but not this one. Thanks for a great tutorial!
Thank you!
I still found this hella confusing hahaha!
I may need to watch this a few times before I really understand how this works..
This is the best video on the topic on TH-cam
I know this is an old video but thanks dude. I have been trying to figure out how mutations work so I can set up my army for the Rockwell boss fight on part 2 and kept getting so confused. I still don't fully understand what I'm doing, but it's alittle clearer now. I tried by myself at first because the videos I watched just made me more confused and more frustrated because I didn't fully understand. And I eventually gave up, but hopefully this will help point me in the right direction and I'll be able to understand what I'm doing.
This is gonna help me with my DIRE WOLF ARMY!
Actually good guide like bru it’s so easy when someone explains it
Thank you!
Well thanks for tutorial lots of people show me about this but i not understand this mechanic little bit complicated
i finally got a mutation. spino that was born at a higher level than both parents were tamed as. not that good of a level, only 142. but both parents were tamed under 129.... and that level was achieved after perfect taming. feelsgood. purely random though. bred like 6 spinos already.
I have looked at a lot of guides and this one is by far the best.
Thank you!
An explanation that I need. Thanks a lot!
Great vid, if you don't me asking 2 questions:
This was the only one I genuinely understood, thanks
Stat match the babies then breed them until you get a lvl increase check what stat increastheif its the desired stat breed it with the parent recommended to use a male because you can breed it with a heap of females at a time to increase chances of mutation faster if you use females its alot slower process
Great video
After incest my dinos for few times and follow up your guide, finally I get one mutation
This helped sooo much if finally understand everything ty
I'm just kinda confused. sorry
Yes that's exactly right 🙂
thanks a lot, I'm new to ark and I'm starting to really get into it. thanks for the guide 😊
I have been needing one of this for a while now
This was extremely useful
Thanks for the info Raasclark.
I had saw many breeding guide but this is the easiest to understand.
Thank you!
Thank you very much for this very very useful video but I think it needs more description
just as confused as when i clicked the video! great vid
Watching this in 2023 and wondering what happened to you in the last two years, you sound sooooo gentle, soft, and innocent in this video🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can barely muster the patience to tame 2 shadowmanes😂 im breeding them regardless of stats
Same I got a 145 male took hours because it would randomly reset for no reason, said screw it and got a level 15 female and just breed until I got identical states as the male
Great vid! I recommend SeaShell Gaming's video over breeding as well. It's more in depth and spends a lot of time explaining the process.
Thanks my man. Don’t tell Syntac but… your guide’s better. 😆
Thank you! Yeah I'd say not to either man 😅
@@Raasclark they are both good in my opinion
Quick and simple.thank you
Great video, but you forgot some things.
Only on official there's a cap mate 🙂
@@Raasclark Still useful for somebody who will mutate 4 stats on offical (idk who that crazy lol)
You got the mutation stacks, you breed them together into a pair of creatures Then breed those together and get the baby mutated creature, imprint up and boom, you have an ultimate creature.
what happens if im breeding snow owls and i have 6 stam mutations on the fathers side and i get one on the mothers side so it will be 6-1 mutations, will it still be fine to breed? or would it mess up the mutations?
totally fine, chances you will have 8 mutations on one side on the next one. It is just displaying wich gender triggered the mutation!
@@oOHiggsFieldOo thank you, i was worrying i had messed up all my mutations
Great video... Will help out a lot from now 😉👍
I just got into Ark about a month ago and I breed for color mutations haha it's like shinys in Pokémon!
Bit late because the game got to broken so a lot off the players stopped playing but i must say really good made this vid
Thank you so much
Edit: i know my name is ark nerd but there are some parts of the game that are complicated to understand
So helpful thanks bro!
Chasing around a rex on foot, you absolute maniac!!!!
Wow, learned a bunch.
Element rng and shard conversion
It would take a stupid amount of time it's not even funny.
Huge waste of time
@@MrMagyar5 yea. I'm just gonna breed good with good. Apparently I already have a "mutation" even tho all the stats are normal
Thanks for the vid. Guess I'll be messing with my dinos a bit.
With stacking mutations every mutation adds lvls so how many lvls can i get like is there a cap or can i end up stacking till lvl 800+ ?
Depends where you're playing. Unofficial there is normally no cap unless set by the server admin.
@@Raasclark Ty Mate, do you know how i can check if its Enabled on my own Server or is it Set as off Automatically on Unoffical.
Probably the easiest to understand tutorial I've gone through Soo many of these ending in the same confusion.
Thank you!
@@alltimeplumbers you can go over 20 its just rarer
I finally understand now so you get two max wild creature who have the best stats then you breed them to one another and you hope that once you breed these two you get a male whos stats mutate to melee or health then you change the father with the son and its a repeat until you get all the mutations you want but once you get a better male you just keep switching them out
Great tutorial !!!
This concept of breeding is 3 or 4 years old. If you put the effort in upfront to create a line of (-1) mutation count females, you can breed continuously without ever increasing your mutation count on your mutated offspring
And how would one get (-1) mutations?
Oooooooooh
🤔
I didn’t know that was how Dino stats worked.
I assumed a more randomized approach
Thanks for this deffo helpfull
The most powerful mutations in the game Ark animal production
Mutating in Ark:Super powerfull dinos
Mutating in real life:Custom Ark characters
I was about to say "use dododex for wild stat calculations, it says what has extra stat points in a specific stat" but as i started, you said to use it so yeah
I'm still confused even after what you said. Both my parents are 150 but i get babies like 162 lvl 144 lvl, but no mutations. Either I'm going crazy or the fear evolved update has changed something in official servers for which I'm getting weird levels.
If your parents aren't identical it could be that the higher leveled ones are getting all the good stats and the lower are getting all the lower stats, resulting in a difference for total levels
If you hit 50k subs are you going to do a membership on youtube?
I already do mate 🙂
I have 2 stat mutations on 2 baby argys Health on the Matrilineal side and Melee on the Patrilineal Side, how do I stack both on their own side? Plus I’m trying to convert both Melee and Health stats together. I’m so behind on the Genesis stuff don’t know a single thing about mutagen lol here’s what I’m trying to do
Matrilineal 20/20 Health | Patrilineal 20/20 Melee
how do I stack both stats together on a lvl 212 Argy once both mutation sides are cap. 20/20
You need to breed the baby with all those stats into a clean dino
@@Raasclark k got it thanks, gonna watch your vids more. It helps 👍
Now I finally understand!
I’m trying hard to understand but it’s kinda fast. Can you possibly do a step by step tutorial of you getting a successful mutation?
very good, but also very basic.
expanding on this.. you also should keep each stat mutation in its own line and only combine once the desired mutations are done on that stat.
such as have a male for each stat you want mutated. and while one male is maturing the females can still breed with the other line.
Keep up the great videos.
Thanks mate. Yeah I wanted something simple and straightforward to follow. But appreciate it can be a lot more indepth than this!
Thank you. That's the issue I think is having something that is easy to follow without delving into it too deep.
@@Raasclark that’s true. If players already have a general idea of how to do it, this guide is great!
Hey! First of all, great guide man! But i still got a question. My clean pair got a male baby 4 lvl's higher (using mutator) but the mutation is on the patrilineal side. So I don't use this one to breed back right?
Or will the mutation transfer to the matrilinial side when i breed with the females again? Anyone?
I think I would understand it better if there was a family tree type thing going on here. I'm sure you covered everything but I'm a visual learner and I had trouble with the clean dad and clean mom part
I'm so confused
I love the old or new with the hair cut
I've have breed my x-allos over one year now. I needed to breed down the other stats . I'm close to lv 500 and got 100 hp points and 175 dmg points. Crazy allos for sure.. to bad I can't use them for something.
Thanks 4 the mutation tutorial but it's too much work 4 me to do
Don't know if you'll respond but, how do you breed colors into your max stat dino. Do you just breed them with your final stat product?
Yup pretty much!
@@Raasclark thanks!
When leveling up a mane, does the stat after the level-up or before the level-up matter for breeding
Before, level ups don't count towards the baby's stats
@@asteranightshade2981 I don't even play ark anymore
This video needs more likes 😊
Stat cap is 254 points before you can input the +100 levels earned after raising btw
If I have this correct
Tame high level dinos 145-150 keep taming them and keep taming them
Now pick your best male and female that has the best hp and melee out of them all (without adding levels these don’t count)
Breed these two together until you get a pair of babies with the exact same stats (if they have a mutation don’t use these)
Now you breed the identical stat babies together until you get a baby with a mutation
You then breed the baby with the mutation back to the identical stat mum or father until you get a baby with 2 mutations
Males are better because you can breed one baby male when grown to all the previous identical stat mothers
Then it’s rinse and repeat again
So as an example in order to
I’ll use numbers to explain
Farther 1
Mum 1
Identical baby 1 male
Identical baby 2 female
Breed
Identical baby 1
Identical baby 2
Until you get a mutation
Breed the mutated male back to the identical stat mothers until you get a baby with 2 mutations
Breed baby with 2 mutations back to the identical stat mums until you get a baby with 3 mutations
Breed the baby with 3 mutations back to the identical stat mums until you get a baby with 4 mutations
Keep doing this process
Great tutorial Raas! Remember watching this and not getting it but watched it a lot more times and getting it somehow. I have a question though. I was breeding some spinos and as babies, they all came out having 566 melee and when they all grew up, two had 790 melee, no level ups no mutations. I can't get that result so you might know why.
Did u imprint on some and not on others?
You can go past the cap but the chance of a mutation is significantly lower
Been planning to do this but I can't get the imprint Timer right, any setting recommendations? And very well done on the guide!
It really depends on what multipliers your going for. There's 3 different options that affect it.
Hmm... I've been intending to run an introductory guide
@@Raasclark mainly going for 50% on each imprint so I don't have to worry too much about missing an imprint if I'm away from base for too long
