For each color mutation there is a stat mutation and for each stat mutation there is a color mutation but it is possible that the color doesn't show because some of the color regions on certain dinos are not in use
a lot of people aren't understanding him when he says that once you get past 20 mutations you can't get new mutations. He's right. He's saying that you can't get a brand new mutation. If you have 1k mutation on the left and 1k on the right you can't breed and get a brand new mutation, however if you breed with a brand new color you can get that color
You need to disown your brother if he just paints randomly. Painting is only to be used as an art. If your makeinf your dire wolf onto growlith it's ok but not trying to fake a mutation or ruining an existing one
Yes..and no. As the speed stat is a valid stat that can have points it can also mutate, but the speed stat is a set value and thus even though the stat will be higher point wise the speed percentage will still be the same, so the dino won't be faster.
Use a wyvern with some levels in stam and the rest in weight, can't carry as much as a quetz but even overburdened it's faster than an empty quetz, so as long as you dont want to transport thousands of metal ingots you'll be ok.
_YellowJacket_ I mainly use my quetz for dino transport tho, and because of the platform saddle I can move an entire raptor pack at once. Sadly a wyvern can't carry more than one dino at a time, I do you wyverns as my main powerhouse flier though
Thanks a lot, I kinda knew how to get mutations but you went more in depth with what to do and a set up to do it I will use your suggestions and hopefully get some mutations!
one day I was playing ark shortly after the mutation system was added, I was walking down the beach when all of the sudden I died and the screen said "you were killed by a triceratops!" I went back to get my stuff and the same trike agro'd onto me after I walked past it, I thought "maybe it's just part of the new mutation mechanic" so I didn't question it, but when I checked the wikipedia page it said the only types of mutations are colors and stats. I was using the extinction mod, so it could've been that, but the mod page said nothing about aggressive herbivores, and that seems like something they would've mentioned. I've never had another neutral creature become aggressive after that, and to this day I have no idea what was wrong with that trike
Torpor does not mutate,it is static, the higer level the creature is,the higer the torpor will be,in fact that dimetrodon was 2 levels above the parents thats why it had higer torpor.
tirannokillspino Torpor isn't a mutation that is actually listed, but I disagree that it can't mutate. I've been raising Microraptors and diligently recording their stats. Just yesterday I had a 199 hatch from animals that normally produce 183-188 babies. Everything from color to base stats were the same as its lower-level siblings, only torpor was different. Levels from breeding are based on the animal's stats, not the stats based on levels (it's why you gain levels hand-over-fist when you breed for higher stats). When something like Torpor has spontaneous gains that can't be explained by having a higher level (because remember, the other stats were the same as its siblings), it proves the rule, rather than the exception.
I feel stupid. I had an equus with 4 total mutations but only one color so being the uneducated player I was..... I shotgunned it in the face and continued my equus breeding.
It would be cool if there was a stat that you could increase breading capabilities. This way you could selectively bread out certain creatures just for egg producing.
That's what I was thinking as well. First I've heard anyone mention mutated torpor. Also in theory could get mutation on the lower stat of the parent and end up thinking it's the higher parents stat that isn't mutated. But all over decent vid though.
My friends and I mated our two gigas and the baby came out at Level 195. The parents were both above 200 when they were born. Never knew they implemented such a feature.
As some people have mentioned, Torpor does not mutate its purely effected by level, 2nd a mutation will always have a colour and a stat (+2 levels) however the colour mutation may be on a region the dino doesn't have. 3rd It is probably worth mentioning that when i a dino mutates it's stat when you breed with the mutated dino, the baby may not inherit the mutated stat but will still look like in ancestry that it has .
Well, no one gonna notice it, but I am anyway gonna chuck it in here. When you get mutation, YOU ALWAYS get COLOR AND STAT. The thing is, color is random, and can go into INACCESSIBLE zone, and be... not visible. So yeah. Btw, you cannot mutate something that is not levelable, which is fe torpor ( or MS ). You got more torpor, cuz it is level based ( so you got more levels than parents ( you can notice it on low level dinos, where you can pick lower show that you can get lower level than parents, and it have lower torpor. I doubt mutation gen degrade :) )
Finally someone who says there is no trick. So many people lie and say you can cheat the system. You can't. Just keep breeding. As for folders they don't transfer. Use a spread sheet on Google Docs.
I personally think a food mutations ar useful if it's by a daeodon. And it is possible to breed dinos that have worse stats than the parnets or even a decrease in levels, that's a problem I noticed while I was breeding troodons or microraptors. I started with two 225 and ended up with several 219 or even 217. The reason why the devs made it more likely to get colors from 1 to 18, is probably cause they are the more fancy ones And I have read that it's more likely to get mutations if the parens have higher Levels, so is this a fact or a rumor?
Christopher Sochor the level the baby comes out depends on the level of the parents when they were WILD. When a dino hatches, it is technically wild and you have to claim it. The level it was before you claimed/tamed it is what determines the level of the offspring
I've been breeding griffins nonstop, 70+, with one mutation. But decent stats, normally 10k health with 200%+ melee damage without leveling and no imprint.
Yup, this is true. Or, if you have 6 dodos, one completely red, one completely orange, one yellow, one green, one blue, and one completely purple, that will work as well
Never mind...torpor does not mutate. Mutations occur before it selects which of the parents stat to pass down. So if the mom's stam mutates and gets blue color and then it rolls the dad's stam, it doesn't appear on the offspring stats but still shows color.
So am I right when I say this? Each of the babys stat is the same as one of the parents, and if one of the babys stats doesnt match any of the parents stat, its mutated?
Gotta be careful if using folders to track stats. If you need to transfer the dino to a non-tribe member temporarily (such as to let someone breed one of your dinos or borrow something that you go and duo-farm with someone), you will find that the x-fer deletes your folder records. Unless they changed it since I played ages ago.
Really informative Syntac :) I finally got everything set up to breed my Allos and after 6 eggs, I got a red color mutation on the back scales of a female. Her dad had the mutation. Sadly haven't gotten anymore but I've only done another 6 eggs and am waiting for those to grow up. Even if I don't get anymore for a while I got some high level Allos to use ;)
I know this is kind of old but I have to post this to clear up some things. 1: There is no Stat OR Color mutation, If you have a mutation it WILL be accompanied by a color change! The reason it didn't show up on his dimetrodon is because of this: There are 6 color regions for dinos (0-5) when you get a mutation a random color region is chosen and is changed (along with the random stat mutation). In this case color region 5 is not used in this dino. So - unluckily the random color region that was chosen was region 5, so it doesn't show up but the stat still mutates. If you want to guarantee (except for rare circumstances), breed dinos where all color regions are used (e.g. Pteranodons) Now, in those rare circumstances where a mutation shows up in the parantage tree, but doesn't reflect in the baby - remember the baby only gets a 70% chance to get the higher stat transferred. If a mutation occured on say the mother's ATK, but the baby got the Father's ATK, it will still say 1 mutation in the parent tree but the baby will, in fact, have 0 muations. Please spread this around so we don't have misinformed videos. Thanks!
You always get a stat and color mutation at the same time. The color might go to a region that doesn't have color. This was heavily explained on Reddit and comes from WC info. Also use the points from dododex after tame level to record info. Not the stats, but the points. The stats will be significantly higher from breeding and the levels. You just need to check the points given. And don't pull the mutations. You get more than 20. That is just as many as you get from one parent. You can use a different parent with other mutations to keep the line going.
Torpidity can't have wild points or mutations invested in it. The stat will always go up a point when the level is increased. What happened there was the stat could have been speed or I've herd that it could have just taken the non-mutated stat.
got some mutated argy's today went through about 75 eggs ended up with 3 color mutations yellow wing tip, blue wing tip and my favorite so far bright cyan feet lol it really gets addicting going for mutations when you get in to it
Thanks Syntac! I bet you're gonna get a lot of attention and feedback for this video! Thanks for all this great information, and I will definitely use it! I love your content and I tune in for the daily videos, keep up the amazing work!
Syn, torpor can't mutate. Torpor automatically gets decided based off of the dino's level, and the reason why those babies had higher torpor wasn't a mutation, it's because they're a higher level than the parents.
Breeding siblings just makes it easier to fibd the mutations after they appear. Just to state the reason people say it helps. If both parents are identical or close to it, which siblings will most likely be, the offspring will be the same if it it unmutated. The mutations will be more obvious as it will differ from the parents.
Torpor mutation? I don't think so. Torpor is a derived stat based on the dino's level.....and nothing else. I've raised many, many dinos. And for the longest time I thought the torpor was an actual stat. But anything of the same species with the same level (regardless of other stats) will have the same torpor. It's more likely that the mutation was in speed.Which doesn't actually affect anything so it's invisible. The only way I can think of finding out if this was the case is to extract and examine the stat data externally, or use a mod like super spyglass which does show it. This can be demonstrated by the 227 and 236 dimetredons you showed. The 227 got two levels in speed (not a valid stat for starting tames, so it displays at the base value). The 236 got several inherited good stats from the parents, which raises the level, and thus raises the torpor appropriately. If you think i'm way off and can prove it, please do so. I'd love to know that there was something I missed.
My first mutation was a female Dodo with an INCREDIBLY hot pink mutation. I am not aware of the stat modifications though because I leveled it up anyway.
very helpful video, you did not ramble too much ;) but I think you should have mentioned, that if breeding with the same male several times, the breeding timer of the female goes up. for official, that makes a huge impact. I found out about it while breeding Ovis and the wiki mentions it too. If you find out more details about it, I'd love to know!
When you breed two dinos, will the offspring always take the highest version of a stat? Ex. > 220 health female. 300 health male. Offspring: is it going to be 300, for certain? Or maybe the 220? Or just a combination?
Actually, there is a way to improve the chances of mutations. Breed the exact same models, that way the game only has two options for wach color zone, thw color of the parents, or a random mutation.
I got 2 baby dire wolves and they were twins, had same health same stamina same stats everything was the same except for hunger. And they were both mutated :)
There isn't always a stat mutation with a color mutation, the reason that the torpor was higher on the offspring was because it was higher level than the parents
I know this is pretty dated. But I noticed on the one you had stat mutated, it also had increased torpor compared to the parents, as well as the stamina.
I found that breeding a set of parents and the breeding the offspring with a newly tamed creature creates a mutation, I've even tested just breeding the offspring with the parents and other offspring but to no success. So I think breeding offspring with a new tame would maybe help.
Doesn't torpor only scale with the lvl of the creature, the higher the lvl, the higher the torpor . Every creature has base torpor (lvl 1) + X x lvl creature and X is the amount of torpor a creature gains per lvl
I've been trying to breed with my colour mutated Argy. It has really beautiful cyan feathers on top of it's head, but neither it's nor it's mother's offspring have the mutation... It's frustrating!
There actually is a way to higher your chances of getting mutations breed 2dinos with the same colour because then it only has 2 colours to choose from whist if you do a dinosaur with 2 complete different colours from each other it will have more colours to choose from
I would think that with a color mutation comes a stat mutation could be true or false. Because torpor rises with levels, wouldn’t that mean that any bonus levels gives it more torpor, so any mutation gives it torpor buff?

Can movement speed be mutated?
I really need a quetzal that isn't painfully slow
Yes..and no.
As the speed stat is a valid stat that can have points it can also mutate, but the speed stat is a set value and thus even though the stat will be higher point wise the speed percentage will still be the same, so the dino won't be faster.
Ohh,.. guess I'm stuck with a sky slug then -_-"
It's bad my achatina is literally faster than my quetzal
Use a wyvern with some levels in stam and the rest in weight, can't carry as much as a quetz but even overburdened it's faster than an empty quetz, so as long as you dont want to transport thousands of metal ingots you'll be ok.

Lil chapstick aka yung dimentia yeah but DO NOT do it, over time the lag will cause that area to become “lag city” as I call it.

Syn, torpor can't mutate. Torpor automatically gets decided based off of the dino's level, and the reason why those babies had higher torpor wasn't a mutation, it's because they're a higher level than the parents.
Allosaurs have a seventh, although it is so small it hardly matters, it is between the scales at the feet
Ark needs to make it where you can breed different animals together. That be so cool.

You are a great youtuber! Keep up the good work!
I just got a Raptor with a red belly, awesome!
"I would not reccomend that by the way" I lolled so hard.
very helpful video, you did not ramble too much ;) but I think you should have mentioned, that if breeding with the same male several times, the breeding timer of the female goes up. for official, that makes a huge impact. I found out about it while breeding Ovis and the wiki mentions it too. If you find out more details about it, I'd love to know!
also, what influence does imprintig have on the babys. I believe none but I'm sure ppl would love to know.
Awesome vid dude
When you breed two dinos, will the offspring always take the highest version of a stat? Ex. > 220 health female. 300 health male. Offspring: is it going to be 300, for certain? Or maybe the 220? Or just a combination?
My first mutated tame was a rex with a bright green underside that made it look radioactive. I named him mutant.
Thank you for clearing this up for me
Awesome video, looking forward to the stack mutation video 👍😁
For anyone wondering that dodo was doing the mating animation
Literally breed up a thyla that have over 1500 mutations from one parent, just wanted that hot pink and cyan with a green stomach.
I think that the reason you get more green, red, or blue is that those are the colours of the triangles on the ARK symbol
Actually, there is a way to improve the chances of mutations. Breed the exact same models, that way the game only has two options for wach color zone, thw color of the parents, or a random mutation.
+WhiteIce44 that doesn't improve the chances, that just lowers the amount of possible colours lol
I got 2 baby dire wolves and they were twins, had same health same stamina same stats everything was the same except for hunger. And they were both mutated :)
Great video. Helped me lots
You gained a subscriber for the game of thrones reference
Nice vid syn
Really helpful man helped a lot thanks this isn’t sarcasm btw
Me:*watching*
TH-cam:oh your watching this?*changes to s*** quality*
Me:-_-
See the funny thing is that video is how I originally found your channel, so it's hilarious that you say it's not your best work!
There isn't always a stat mutation with a color mutation, the reason that the torpor was higher on the offspring was because it was higher level than the parents
Thank you this has helped me learn how mutations
Thanks man. Im subbing! 😍😍😍
Hello I’m new at ark and this helped alot
Syntac, great video. Just got into dino breeding thanks for the tips and explanations.
2:11 dodo was doing the deed
Very helpful, thanks!
Nice video keep up the good work! ; )
So a baby with a higher lvl then his parents has always a higher torpor , and torpor cant be mutated I think.
Super helpful thanks a lot
I've been trying to breed with my colour mutated Argy. It has really beautiful cyan feathers on top of it's head, but neither it's nor it's mother's offspring have the mutation... It's frustrating!
Thx for the info syntac! I've been trying to find out how to mutate dinos. Welp, Imma go try it out on my sp world. Once again, thx for the info!
Hahah that game of thrones joke killed me
Love your videos Syn keep up with the great content. Do you have a patreon server?
Yup, patreons get access to 3 ark servers and a dark and light server
Syntac oh I didn't know that I'll message you on discord later then for the info.
My tribe leaders use to tell me that "upgrade the health and damage" on both imprints so you can get a better chance of both. Is that true?
