DIY lead alum battery

I made lead alum battery from jar sponge and lead that I salvaged from old sla battery ( • How to open and salvag... ) .battery voltage is 1.3v and I use it to power LED with joule theif for few hours.

Is there a follow up to this with electrolyte or crystals and maybe some meaningful voltage?
