Replaced my throttle body after watching this video - you saved me over $500. Thanks for the great walkthrough and the tool recommendation (saved money and my knuckles)!
Just followed your guide. Was super helpful. Car is running great now. ONE TIP for newbies like me: You DEFINITELY want remove the bracket that holds the throttle body. It will save you a ton of time when you go to install the new body.
This is by far the best adn easiest video to understand in how to replace one's own throttle body. Thank you so much for keeping it simple, clear and honest.
Hey man. Just wanted to say great video. I just swapped mine out 15 min. ago in my 2014 compass. 2 small details I would like to point out. I found it easier to remove to top radiator hose to get in there. And the 2nd thing was there was a plastic screw holding the sensor wires on the throttle body to the tube you removed. I just cut the plastic screw off. Great video though it was a life saver.
Thank you very much. I just replaced the throttle body of my 2013 Chrysler 200. It was just like yours. Same place. Followed your instructions. Great video.
I'm seeing a lot of these comments but I gotta say great video! Super good instructions and even with a couple complications the job was easy with your advice! I can say if you have a patriot like me the Gimble is a lifesaver for a couple bucks at the store!
I appreciate that. this engine mounted throttle body is new territory for me. I was looking for a few minutes before I realized it. Im like What?? No way... Intake tube on mine is lose. I wasnt sure if it was supposed to be like that or it was never reattached from the previous owner? Now I know I also know why the Air Box mounts are broken and the box getting tossed around until I tightened it up with a spring so it dont move around. NOPE Im replacing some stuff. First video I watched no need to take up any more time and continuing watching anymore . Thanks Again!!!! DDM OUT
I did this today on my 2016 Jeep Compass and man was it annoying. First off the brace for the bottom part of the hose was frustrating to get off. I managed to get it off using the socket and a small extender and turning it with my hand cause it was too tight to get any of my tools there. So after I got the old throttle off put the new one in but it was difficult lining up the bolts perfectly to screw them all in. So noticed there was as a bracket that you don’t have in the car in your video. So what I did was loosen that bracket just one bolt think it was a 14mm after that was easy to line up the bolts perfectly, tighten them down then tighten the bracket up. Snug and tight finally.i found it easier and much more room to take out the battery otherwise it would be more annoying. Oh also the hose was tied to the wire for the throttle sensor so I just clipped that off. So after all that put everything back in place. Started up the car and viola! No limp mode. Engine light is still on but I’m hoping it goes away soon.
You do such a great job!! :) I was first introduced to your channel when I stumbled upon your video about touchless car washes. I was hooked from there. :) Can't wait for the next video! :)
I just finished this. I removed the top(left) of the airbox and the battery and didn't regret it. BE CAREFUL WITH THE AIR TEMP SENSOR! It is delicate and brittle plastic after 10 years. Ask me how I know... Moving the upper radiator hose did help and it only drips a little, you can top it off with cheap distilled water without altering the ratio in any significant way. The gaskets are not included because Chrysler says they are reusable...I bought a new one anyway too 😉 It took 5 trips around my 1sq mile block to run well so Don't Panic of it doesn't start acting right immediatly, the computer needs a minute to get the new voltage range.
Hi Milmast! a great video! thank you :) .... i will have to do the same work. One question: How did you reset or re-program the Throttle Body Assembly to control the RPM to correct parameters? THanks!!!
Thanks, great video, and good tip to use the gimbal! I have replaced my throttle body but didn't have any luck with the relearn procedure - my ETC light does not go off when I turn the key to start position and wait. I think I'll need to limp it in to the dealership and get some codes read. Any tips? Seems like there's more going on than just the throttle body...
So is this what needs to be replaced if the ETC comes on? Mine will flash if I accelerate a little too quickly, but goes away once I back off or gently accelerate
Thank you for the great video! I do have a question, I have a 2014 Jeep Compass and the "Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light" came on, I experience loss of power while driving. I was wondering if what I need to do is this, replace the throttle body. I hope to hear back from you soon, thank you
Hey Milan, following this process right now. I have the old throttle body removed and am trying to install the new one. It doesn't seem to fit right, it's like ALMOST aligned, but not fully. I even tried re-installing the old one to troubleshoot, but it also doesn't go back on. I thought the bracket might be holding it up some how, but I don't know. Have you ever experienced this?
Hey Milan, question. Do you need to create or purchase a gasket for the throttle body? Or are the two plate faces designed to simply be metal on metal? If there is a need for a gasket, do you suggest a tube diy gasket? Or a gasket fit for specifically for the part? Thanks in advance
What was wrong with the throttle body that was replaced? I'm having issues with my 2012 Compass where it sputters and hesitates when accelerating. I checked the coils and they're good, has new plugs, and battery is also less than 4 months old. I'm thinking that it's something to do with the throttle body.

I'm going to replace mine this week my rpm goes high without even doing anything and sometimes the rpm is way too low and the car almost stalls I think it's the sensor in the throttle body
What sensor is that is that the throttle position sensor??? Bc no part store has it like they can’t even order it so I wanna know if I actually have one
I'm investigating the same part but as um told it could also be the pedal inside the car with a senor on the fire wall the jeep drives like 50 down the rd with no help of pushing the pedal to go faster lol your opinion is?
on 2016 Jeep Compass do I just replace the throttle body or will I need to do the relearn with gas pedal before starting it up? Hold the pedal to the floor for 10 seconds before starting with key in on position ?
can you clean the throttle body without taking it out? like can i spray tb cleaner without having to wipe it out and letting it air dry for say 5-10 minutes?
I have a quick question I have an 07 Jeep Patriot that has the same engine. I was just wondering if you would be able to direct me to where the canister purge valve is located on this engine. I am getting a check engine light with the code p0456 that gave me a gas cap or small purge valve leak. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
I have a 2016 Compass 2.4L. The ETC light just came on and the car is running poorly. Can I just clean the throttle body that I have? How can I tell if it needs to be replaced? I did notice a change in MPG prior to the light coming on. Also my engine light is on as well.
