    Hello from Russia! Love your camper! I have a 1995 Subaru Outback camper. The concept is very similar to yours, but for winter I have an autonomous diesel heater that is installed on the back side door window for overnight stays, and for summer, two 85 W solar panels and a compressor refrigerator. Loved your video! Thanks!

    • @jalapenoontrail872
      @jalapenoontrail872  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you. Those diesel heaters are nice. We don’t have really cold winters here. A 12V hearing blanket works perfect.
      Most of our trips are 2-3 days do we haven’t found the use for an electrical refrigerator. Your setup sounds very nice.

    Really nice AND smart set-up! Way to go! 👏 And, I really like your Napier tent -- really opens up your car, gives you way better ventilation, and closeness to nature.
    We just bought a new 2022 Forester Premium last week that I am totally loving! I started with a new Subaru Hatchback in 1984, had an outstanding run with it, and even though it was only FWD, it handled the wet and icy roads to/from ski resorts amazingly well, and it's little 1600cc engine got us 42 MPG highway! Subaru quality!

    I have a 2018 Outback & am going on my first car camping trip this month. I’m pretty well prepared, thanks to Outback videos with great ideas. Yours is the best & offers helpful tips I haven’t seen elsewhere. Happy to see your Napier Sports Cove which I just came across over the weekend & was wondering if I’d be able to set it up by myself. Thanks for including all the links, much appreciated!

    Hello! LOOOOVE you set up. Solo car camper here👋🏼! I have the Napier SUV tent with the awning (not with the screen room) and it is great!! It is very easy to set up solo as a female and takes me about 15 minutes - the rain fly is the only thing that got me for a while. It has a 9 x9 base and 7 feet tall at the top (so rain fly was a bugger) but I figured out a hack. My question is Arkansas. I love this set up I’ve seen so many videos where people build a sleeping platform in the back of their vehicle and you just lose so much headroom I feel like. It makes everything a lot more cumbersome imo. This setup lets you easily convert it back to a regular ol daily driver again after the weekend is over or whatever. Great idea. I’m thinking I’ll probably fill my back trunk area of my forester with some thick foam padding maybe just to level out that hump where the seats go down and then throw a camping inflatable mattress over the top of that just to help even out the contours a bit. Great job!

      I’ve watched countless “platform” builds and always wonder about that. I was about to compliment this guys approach to keeping sleep surface low as possible. I suppose for 2 people big flat platforms are needed and sacrifices must be made? I solo camp in the back country in a Honda Fit, (rear seats removed entirely) with one plywood piece and some gear used as filler to get floor surface close to flat. I use a cushion from a pool lounge chair for mattress and sleep in total comfort. I can sit straight up on my bed, without banging my head on roof, with feet flat on floor in footwell behind driver seat.

I love the water jug you showed and I will be getting a similar one for myself on my next camping travel, boy I missed all the fun with camping. I agree with you camping and showering in various places saves on being tied down to go to a hotel definitely. I am getting a lot of good inputs from many campers on these videos. Thanks again.

    • @jalapenoontrail872
      @jalapenoontrail872  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the seats are just folded down.
      Upon using the mattress we did get a 2 inch memory foam from Walmart and use it underneath the current bed for added comfort. And it's nice because you can fold it up with the pillows inside and raise the back seats back up. Very nice setup for us.

      @@jalapenoontrail872 I see you answered my question too. With the back seats down it's not perfectly flat. How did you deal with that? Also, for water I use one of those 5 gallon jugs from a water cooler and screw in a USB pump dispenser. I cut a hole in the cap for the pump and screw the cap/pump into the jug. Just push the button on top and pumps out fast too. Water is never and issue for me now. I've got pics if you'd like to see.

      Hello,
      Thanks for watching. We have a few things to help with ventilation. We have the window guards on all four sides that allow 2-3 inches of air flow even during rain.
      We also have the door screens for two doors and if needed the sunscreen magnetic screen for the sunroof.
      Finally we use two usb small fans that clip on the grab handles above the doors to help circulate air.
