NTA on the first story. Once you sit at a table that table is for you. You do not have to share. If I go to a restaurant by myself they will not sit other people with me if the restaurant is packed.
First story, NTA. You said no, the table is clearly small, they don't know each other, no I need my space is fine. Because even in public no one has the right to get into your up close and personal space.
First Story NTA, it doesnt matter the reason why. They said no, the person was too full of themselves ( our first indication of that was the fact that they came in smelling like that in the first place) to take the boundary set and move on.
My husband not a fan of pets we got a cat, that cat attached herself to him, she sleeps with him she gets excited when he comes home from work. It’s funny when he tells the cat, daddy has to go to work. She got out she was gone for a few days. Well he found her on the street coming home from work one night, she was all dirty and cold and looks like she lost a lot of weight, he was worried about her because for the next couple of days she hid under the bed, it turns out she was just over exhausted and probably was traumatized, but she’s back to normal and gained twice as much weight since she’s been home. We also had a baby a year after we got the cat and he did not toss the cat aside and started being mean to her she was still Kiki out little girl. We know there were times where he was mad at her for destroying a computer chair, but he never abused her, I hate animal abusers they make me sick! This should be a big red flag to her.
Story two NTA, the audacity of both of them, the grandmother and the sister in law whatever that’s a three month old baby and the only reason grandma OP to apologize is because she’s tired of listening to her daughter. She’s over it. But she also needs to take responsibility and so does the sister on how awful they are.
The first story NTA. No is a full sentence. She said no and that was the end of it. She couldn't have to explain herself to justify it. If it's two tables over she would leave, but because it was her space she was allowed to control it. The other person wasn't entitled to her peace.
What are you talking about? No means no your personal space should be respected. If you don't want someone sitting there it doesn't matter. What the reason is you have a right to say no, the marijuana smoking smelling person did not have a ride to come back with you shouldn't be in a in a public space… Because there are different levels of personal space… It's like asking to share a bathroom stall
First story, the fact that the employee sided with her means she's in the right even if it's not the nicest thing Car seat story, totally the A-hole it could be argued that the car seats never owned by either parent the car seat belongs to the child, he is required to make sure his son is safe by giving his son a car seat
First story is so odd to me, but maybe it is different depending on location? I can't even imagine approaching someone to ask to share THEIR table and even if OPs delivery wasn't friendly, they're still NTA. Maybe they do that some places, but nowhere I've been
Totally separate from the verdict on Story 3, I'm just sitting here wondering "Is that car seat still safe to use?" The niece died a few years ago, and car seats actually have expiration dates set from the date of manufacture, so it may need to be replaced regardless.
DOG STORY: I have questions... Was he Always this way about the dog or just when issues arose? Is it Only with the dog or somewhat with you too? Have there been other changes in your husband or stress factors that are at play? I would be a little concerned that there may be a medical issue, cheating or other heavy stress that is there and the dog is the "easiest" to put that towards. It's someone that won't agree back and just take it. I honestly would dive deeper... it's not usually about the obvious in these types of situations.
She also didn't need to be humble and all showing of humility like you suggested, why cower… You have a right to the table and your personal space you don't need to be humble about it doesn't mean being an asshole, but you don't need to coward about itlike she is reek in the Game of Thrones… Lol ironically, when the other girl was the one who reeked of smoke
Your reaction to story 3 finally made me realise why people care about the moral high ground. People will look at your worst action and assume it's your kindest action, filling in the blanks on their own to fit that assumption. I still don't understand why this is done to only one of the two sides though.
I totally disagree with story 1 being NTA. OP was the AH if for no other reason than the fact that she hogged a table FOR THREE HOURS knowing how limited seating was. And she says that during all those hours she only bought 2 drinks and a pastry. A lot of places will ask you to leave if you just sit there for hours on end like that, but even if they allow it there, it's still rude and self-centered behavior.

Best two ways to determine if someone is worth having in your life: how they treat wait staff and how the treat animals.

Saying no includes personal space, it is not open for criticism unless she was at a table that seats six

You can have personal space in public.

Sweet Baby Jesus, someone save me.
Omg the X broke into her car and took the car seat. Betcha

NTA story one. Weed girl needs to get a clue.

Did you expect to get anything rational from college students??
