I think this really depends on if the friends have a history of being flakey with stuff like this or not. If there's no prior precedent to think they might mess this up, if they found out OP planned around the idea they would, they're going to be insulted. As someone with anxiety, I know I have to communicate that to my friends when it's being an issue; not just expect them to get on board and be infinitely understanding of all my anxiety driven choices with communicating what's going on. OP needs to just tell her friends "no thank you" if she's really going to be this worried about them messing it up.

On my second listen, something stuck out to me that didn’t stick out before. Husband was very callous with his “well, no kids then.” I don’t know if it was the way Dusty read it or if that was the husband’s tone when he said it, but it came across in a relieved way sort of. Like “oh thank God I was diagnosed with this because now I have a legitimate reason to not want kids.”

NTA. As a foodie, this lady would not help my experience of trying new place and foods. I love Korean cuisine, I would not take this lady with me because I would not enjoy the experience. But I would go to a safe restaurant for her. I have a friend who has more basic palate, so when I’m with her I don’t try cuisine she would not enjoy. Or my husband would does not enjoy going to new places. So, I try a new place two to three times before dragging him there. Their experience doesn’t trump mine, but I would want our time together to be enjoyable for both of us. I found others who enjoy new food experiences to go with.

Where and when does it end with the mother and sister? They've hijacked this woman's entire life since the sister was born and treated her as if she's an embarrassment to the family, not worthy of being an individual, not worth celebrating her life and her accomplishments, not even worthy of her own gifts and now they're hijacking her wedding and reception. It won't ever stop - next it will be a pregnancy, the birth of a child, mother continuing showing favoritism toward grandchildren - sister's over OP's. This is a sick, twisted relationship that mother created and father seems to look the other way rather than step in and step up and treat both daughters the same and if OP doesn't put a stop to it now, she will never be out from under this; and any future children will just be the continuation of the same emotional abuse/neglect by the mother she had inflicted upon her for her entire life. Dusty's "time to start choosing *you*" was spot on. Ironic that mother used the word 'sabotage' when she, the sister, the boyfriend all tried to sabotage the wedding reception. Hoping OP and husband remain stoic in dealing with them all and, if nothing else, put some physical distance between them. They're all butt-hurt because their strategy to steal the spotlight failed miserably, but they are still the selfish people they've always been so brace yourselves for retaliation in the future; no matter what you tell them, you're always going to be blamed for their embarrassment in that moment. For the guy that got his "wife" deported, did she not want a green card? She obviously knows enough about the system to get a work visa and probably had an education visa. Why didn't she try to get a green card??? That's something she should know he can't file for her. He initiates the paperwork yeah, but (as someone who has helped my Mom with her immigration paperwork for years) I know there are parts she needs to fill out herself and they have to submit a marriage certificate. Immigration interviews you as a couple, for heaven's sake. Did she not find it suspicious when her card never came??? Nothing about immigration is automatic, even if they had a kid. There is a painful form for EVERY SINGLE THING.

About the tattoo, he can have preferences, she can have preferences. She knew he didn't like the look of tattoos... So she goes behind his back and PUTS IT ON HER NECK?!?! She put his name to be manipulative because he can't be mad if it's his name. I don't disagree with you. He for sure has no say. She can't be mad that he doesn't like it when he told her he doesn't like the look. However, he did take it too far cancelling the vacation. I would be mad if I told my husband I didn't like something and he did it, but I wouldn't take it as far as he did.

Story 3, with the tattoo. Fist time I have ever 100% disagreed with you Dusty. He made his dislike of tattoos very clear, very well laid out. She went ahead and got one any way knowing full well her husband didn't like them. He has the right to not be happy. She did something she full well knew he would not like and expected him to just change and except it anyway. He is NTO, she is at least a 2 for trying to force him to change how he thinks.

I have to believe that mom married into a financially well off family and "escaped" her beginnings, so she had to fully integrate into their traditions. So, when her son didn't follow said traditions, it put one hell of a bee in her bonnet. 😂

My parents did this to my siblings. Thy went through their rooms with trash bags and got rid of everything. My siblings are now in their 30s and still talk about it as one of the events that showed them that nothing truly belonged to them and anything could dissappear at any time. They still talk about fighting this perception of reality as adults.
