Hope Yamaha's 2 smoke sales get boosted after this model release. Hopefully other Japanese manufacturers follow suit in investing or reopening their 2 stroke divisions. I say this as a KTM 250SX owner. More competition = better products
Any update on jetting specs? I just picked mine up and have been working on the tuning. Located in Washougal, WA. So far with the supplied brass and needles the bike is really bad even on the stand 0-1/8 throttle. I don't have any pilots bigger than 58 in my arsenal so I'm waiting on a 70 and 68 from jets r us. I've leaned out the needle and even thrown an 8 slide in it to help mask that richness off idle but that inevitably leads to a pretty lean surge up the transition. Once it gets on the main at a 165 it seems pretty happy. I've had similar issues tuning 250's with yamaha 2 taper needles. I typically run JD's stuff up here for that reason. His starting diameters are rich and continue to throw fuel at it in the middle and make great torque through the transition. I'd typically run something close to a 45p. This bike did not like those needles at all or any of the popular suzuki NExx series that run more conventional configurations. This combo with the 75p is just odd IMO. Any updates on what you guys have found would be greatly appreciated.
I've read a couple articles, and watched several videos on the YZ125, and they all mention jetting. Argh ... I hate tinkering with jetting. Last thing I want to be trying to figure out. Makes me really wish this was fuel injected.
Can you adjust the ignition timing in the 3d mapping Cdi with a laptop ? I love watching you ride a 125 of all the tests your, by far, the fastest on it. Bike looks real good.
Hey how come the dealerships call the mx model the yz 125x? If you look up parts there are 2 models. Yz 125 and then the yz 125x. One is off road but how do i get the mx model?
Great insight as usual Ping. I picked mine up last week in Australia, ridden it twice and totally agree with your comments. Great layout, great suspension, great mid, just needs a bit more on top. Hopefully a pipe will fix that, as soon as they come out. Thanks again Ping 😁 th-cam.com/video/Chhzqjfj-Qw/w-d-xo.html
Far doo's Yamaha for keeping the 2 strokes alive.
It takes a technically great rider to make this go fast.
Isn’t that the point?
Bring back 2 strokes!
Let’s go one of the best sounding bikes out there
