Could be someone else's bike and if they bog it around all day the pipe is coated in oil so when someone rides it hard it will smoke a ton

@@premix3663 it was definitely someone else's bike. Think it was the girl he apologized to near the end. And no riding it around slow wont build crap up and make it smoke.....unless it is to rich and oily. He even comments in the video it bogged out of corners, felt slow and smoked. All classic signs of rich or over oiled.

My favorite all around bike I ever had was my YZ125, I raced it a lot in AA or Open pro in my local enduro, harescrambles, etc.. the tighter the single track the better it was for me, I could stay on the pipe and put it wherever I wanted... i liked my SX250F factory editon, XCW300 a lot too, but nothing beats a small bore 2 stroke... im too out of shape to be running a 125 for nearly 2 hours, if i do that i want a 4 stroke, its easier to ride fast for longer duration.
I grew up riding single track with Chuck Cooper (Guy's brother) a lot, the few times I rode with Guy it was pretty insane watching those two chasing eachother from behind. First time I rode with Guy was right before a huge icestorm, he was leaving the following day to go to Texas to solo a hard enduro, i think it was 'last man standing'.. Chuck was his mechanic and just getting there they slid off the road multiple times and when he raced the course was solid ice/snow lmao.
Chuck when I was on 85's taught me how to wheelie and turn the bars once my front wheel started to clear between the trees so I could get my bars through a section that was too tight for my bars to make it through without stopping and wiggling the bars between them. I watched him do that so many times, it always blew my mind so for a full day that's all I did until I got it, I've never ran bark busters either so it was a learning experience. A lot of people don't know, but before Chuck became a dentist he was actually a factory kawi rider, most people only know of Guy or their nephew Kenny Bartram.
I also loved the 125 for moto, it was the most fun bike but in the B class I could really feel the power disadvantage, I'd be giving it everything she had and the 250F's would just tractor right on by lol
I'm either getting another 125 or possibly a 250... I've had an XCW300, but I've never owned a 2 stroke motocross bike that was over a 125cc, i normally had a 125 and then either a 250F or 450F to go with it. I've ridden an SX250 with a 300 kit that was ported and polished, it was a lot different than the XCW300. The SX was like a lightswitch in a tweakers house and you better be ready for when it hit. It was a blast for moto but i hated it in the woods, the XCW was a lot more usable and had a lot more low end grunt to lug it around and wasnt as agressive but still had the snappy power when you wanted it... the W almost felt like a cross between a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke if that makes any sense compared to the SX300.
Not sure how watching a video on a couple 125's got me on that memory tangent... 🤔

I raced HS a little on a YZ125 back in the '90's. Stopped riding in 08, bought a yz250f a year ago and raced HS last year... except very last race I picked up a '17 KTM 150sx and ran that. I won on it and find it's the funnest bike I've ever had (maybe the KX500 was a close tie😆).
I love the SX for it's light weight and decent power through the woods... especially now that I've put the RaceTech Lucky Carbon spring/oil fork kit in. It's amazing😁😁😁
      I'm a happy 57yr old A rider now 🏁😁🏁😁🏁

I have a Pro circuit silencer and Scalvini pipe with JD jets now it made a huge difference (also running 50:1) I ride this track all the time and I had a huge bogging issue in the corners but the changes definitely fixed it and now feels faster than most of the yz125s I’ve ridden in the past😊

To all the posters below, I’ve seen Dyno tests on 125 road race bikes that made more power on 16/1 than any other ratio. One bike made the most power on 15/1. Oil has a high btu value when burned. It’s the jetting not the oil ratio. In the road race scene bikes are full throttle for long straights at very high rpm. A125 RR engine will pull over 50hp. If we ran fuel/oil ratios you guys run on MX bikes we would seize engines like crazy.

I ride the Fantic xx125 2022 (the same as a Yamaha 2022) and mine is well tuned but completely standard. I ride in the Netherlands on the deep sand tracks and then he pulls like a beast!! On the test bench, the engine is even two horsepower above the 2021. And only half a horsepower below the KTM. That means that with a good adjustment and especially on a hard track you will be able to ridelike a spear must go! the Yamaha also has very good springs in stock.

Agreed with your findings and points here, even based on the big name publication reviews, the 2022 is actually heavier and down in Dyno HP numbers. For a bike that hasnt been updated in 15 years they didnt give consumers any real reason to spend the premium to upgrade. The '22 got a lot of hype because of what people wanted it to be, and the updated body work but in actuality its the same bike as anything from 2006 and up. All that being said, love seeing the 2 stroke content! Keep it coming.

Everyone who's gotten a 22 yz125 says it's Jetting is way off. Rich on the pilot lean on the main. Those who have them. Have ended up with Jetting closer to the yz250. Which really helps it run cleaner.

  • @Scissors69
    @Scissors69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

Rich means too much petrol to air. This bike is showing signs that the petrol to OIL ratio is wrong (which is not what running rich means at all). In fact, if it's on the standard jets, and running too much oil, then it will run lean, with regard to fuel/air ratio, where the extra oil takes the place of petrol volume.

I have a 22 yz125 and you need to go smaller on the pilot, and needle jet, leave the main the same if you run wide open alot or sand tracks, I switched to R50 premix and it's a totally different bike now. It comes jetted way to rich from the factory but takes 10 minutes to fix. It's really fast and crisp now with lots of bottom, smooth into the power almost like a 250 2 stroke. Suspension and chassis feels great, much better than my 2006. Idk why they ran it so rich but ya. Still not as fast as any stock ktm 125 but the suspension can make up the difference in lap times depending on the track.

When i left 85s i was put on a 125 then they decided to move me to a 250 since my corner speed on a bigger bike wasn’t there yet, now i’m almost faster on a 125 than i am on my 250 due to just how much more aggressive i am on a bike.

@@onlygazza It's smoking after he lets off because it's getting hot enough to burn all the built up carbon out of the pipe for the first time. Watch any Hard enduro riders finally opening their bikes up on a wide open stage and you'll see the exact same thing. Even if the rings are compromised it wont smoke like that, It's not a 4 stoke and the bottom end is quite dry by comparison.(it wouldn't run either, two strokes are extremely sensitive to blow-by, due to them use a very precise amount of crank case pressure to force the air/fuel mix into the cylinder)

    • @mxr248

@@onlygazza no!! It’s smoking cause of excess oil in the silencer after being shut off. Hence why it is still smoking. I rode a c riders Honda 125 that never seen the power band and when I was done ripping it and shut it off it smoked for awhile. Same with some of my other friends after I rebuilt their motors I took them for a spin. But they also had that bike running way too rich. Wow the 2022 didn't get a fair shake whoever is mixing that premix or riding that bike before you probably mix it really rich and didn't rev it out as much and it built up in the silencer because you shouldn't be smoking that bad out of the silencer unless there's a lot of built up oil in there and finally someone who can actually ride....... rides it(AJ) .....AND STARTS clearing out the accumulated premix... I NOTICED even after almost a minute of being hard on the gas the smoke was still pouring out of the 2022 and a properly jetted /premixed bike ,.....the smoke will almost dissipate immediately as soon as it reaches operating temperature ........and the factory jetting from Yamaha should never be that rich the 2022 runs so much better with Crisper jetting as any 125 2-stroke with the jetting dialed in is going to run eons better than one that's not as you know the littlest differences can make all the differences.... And I suspect whoever is using the bike is probably using YAMALUBE 2R and even that synthetic stuff is absolutely garbage although it does lubricate well it's thinner and makes a mess out of everything and smokes like crazy and usually people who buy a new Yamaha usually go with the YAMALUBE since that's the recommended application but I cannot stand it I only use KLOTZs products or redline or Maxima 927 or K2 AND those are amazing oils to use on 125s in my experience.......
