I'm born and raised in NL. We have to add a number 6 to the list. Clarenville. It is the hub of the east coast with a population of around 10-12,000. ( Clarenville & surrounding area) The town has an uncanny amount of business' for the population because it serves the east coast with a population of 90,000. The town has grown substantially in the last 40 yeasr, and especially in the last 20 years. It has a Ski hill, Bowling alley, Movie theatre, new hockey arena, 6-7 of the main car dealerships, many restaurants, Wal mart, Canadian tire, 4 major hardware stores, up-to-date infrastructure, a good economy, clean town, several golf courses, nearby Industrial sites, nearby commercial farming, Terra Nova park on its door step, less than two hour drive to the city. At a cross-roads on the TCH with the burin and Bonavista peninsulas. located in a protected harbour, with very little fog (5-10 days per year). and more sunshine Than the surrounding communities on the Avalon, burin and Bonavista peninsulas, because of Clarenville's geographic location, "tucked away" behind Random Island (Newfoundlands largest Island). being sheltered from the ocean is what gives Clarenville its good weather and higher temperatures. I travel across the Avalon, east coast, and Bonavista for work, every week, and it is very noticeable how much better the weather is there.
Thank you for sharing this. I was checking out schools around St. John's and wanted to check any vlogger who has comments about how is it like to stay/live. This video made me more convinced that St. John's is not bad even though its isolated (for me). :) can't wait for your new video!
My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Cornerbrook this past fall. We loved it. The people were so friendly and the landscape just beautiful. We want to come again.
Going back myself had enough of Alberta too cold to costly jobs are few and between this place is a young mans country oil patch for young folks that can work long hours
Grocery stores in NL are abysmal… very limited selection… produce is of poor quality and almost no organic…so you can only get pesticide covered in the dirty dozen 😖 Health care services are abysmal… you have to go the main city of St. John’s to access the limited availability of medical specialists, and also for many tests, and surgeries 🤕… Real Estate is overpriced… especially the newer houses developers rushed … built slipshod - buyer be ware! This is a nice place to visit but terrible location for retirees.
My advice would be (time permitting) to do some exploring outside the Avalon peninsula! There is so much to see in the rest of the province? In and around the St. John's area, check out Petty Harbour, Middle Cove, and Cape Spear...all great spots!
Nl beautiful place, but managment is garbage. Lived here all my life. 40 years. In the early years life was much better, but as time goes on the people who run this place is driving people away. Sad
Great video, I’m living currently in Vancouver and planning to visit Newfoundland and see the vibe there.. If I decide to live there, close to water, which is the best place in your opinion? Thank you!
Hi there all, would like your input, I have lived all over Canada, would like to live out west within the mountains , but now being a senior, I realized i'v always been interested , in Newfoundland, the people from there are happy, wonderful, loving, ha just like me, I would like to live by the shore, within a bachelor apartment, thinking 500$'s or so, being on a fixed income, please let me know if you can help, have an awesome day
I think St.John is by far the best city. It has all the amenities you would need and some beautiful spots. The bus system is really good, so you can get by without a car. The only problem it is the most expensive city, so i dont think $500 a month will get you by. Whatever you do just ignore CBS. I am not sure how it got 2nd place. The city is garbage with nothing to do. Most things that you need you would need to drive to St. John's
Poor healthcare is a national problem - not just a NL problem. I divide my time between NL and ON - trust me, it isn't much better in ON. 2.5 million Ontarians are without a family doctor. Emergency rooms closing by the day. Average ER wait times have tripled. Months upon months of wait lists for referrals and surgeries. It sucks everywhere, not just NL.
Along the south coast of the Newfoundland...AKA TERRE-NEUVE, every other village IS A FRENCH VILLAGE! Rose Blanche, La Poile, Grand Bruit, Baie des Loups, François, Goultois...etc...etc...Hey, I flew out of Corner Brook, Actually Pasadena seaport in Deer Lake! I went back later and flew out of Stephenville airport...Stuff you dont forget!

East coast weather has a lot to be desired, summertime isn’t warm. On the west coat scenery is nicer and weather is warmer
I was born and raised here , was gone for 30 yrs for work. Just moved back and no place I rather be. I am live in Stephenville and I love it
Thanks for watching!
Could you find a family doctor?
@@samanthathompson9812 no not yet

@@G.I.N.N What's the difference? I 💭 Newfie was just an affectionate abbreviation.

If I were a skier I'd probably pick Corner Brook.
I was expecting to hear Marble Mountain mentioned for sure.
Corner Brook should be #1
I live in Newfoundland
Im from ireland and going to newfoundland in 2 weeks time. Renting car and driving around, any must see places?

@@ApexGeography Great thanks for the reply, appreciate it
There are a lot of places that will remind you of your homeland.
Oh yes , I prefer a small community, no city

St. John's is nasty. Corner Brook has so much to do outside. CB ranked #1 in Atlantic Canada for outdoor leisure
