Solid advice Rich. Do all those things myself, most of which apply outside of Enduro too. Never found Austrians to be short on grease, or at least never had problems with them running dry, but always add if I have the parts off anyway for good measure. You didn't mention the ODI bar ends. Also something I do as a safety and durability issue. Saves the vulnerable throttle tube and grips, also keeps grips from moving/spinning after hard wet dumps, and helps prevent the throttle from sticking wide open in dumps. Bonus is you can swap wrap around guards, flags guards, or nothing for Enduro, XC, and moto if you ride one bike for all. Looking great on the new bike. Best of success in your upcoming events 🤙
Rich! Great content as usual, Hey I'm trials/enduro guy up here in the PNW, hoping that clutch pull is light, brake tech from what I hear,(which is what I have on my Cota 300RR/ its awesome), please report in on one of the most important factors for a hard enduro bike!!! Thanks in advance Bru!
GEARING? What gearing do you use for this type of riding? Would appreciate some thoughts on this important topic. Thank you for the great videos. IRC tires are the best.
Great practical content as always, thanks Rich. I'm considering a Gas Gas EC 300 after my last 7 bikes all being KTM 300's. So, I'm really looking forward to your review on the machine.
@@madMX96 I have to agree with you on that. I think the Sherco is the best presented enduro bike and really looks like a quality product. I've thought about getting one before but it's a very small brand here in South Africa and expensive without much dealer support. I'd say about 70% of the enduro market here runs KTM 300's and there is good dealer support. They also hold their value well and you will have no problem selling a used KTM 300 here. Who knows what the Gas Gas back up will be like but there are quite a few dealerships opening on the back of the KTM network.
Rich, Can you put links to the Tires and Mousse Bibs you mentioned in the video. It sounded like you might be using a different rear bib than what is recommended. I really enjoy the content and I think the changes you are making are going to help gumby's like myself!
Hi Rich. Why do you remove odometer, it has warning lights? For example the engine light will flash a certain sequence to tell you what sensor is not permitting the bike to start. (I had this occur out in the woods, was able to be directed to the the crankcase sensor - hose had fallen off. On a carby I'd remove it.
Hi Rich Been following your channel for a while now, thank you for great content and advice. I see you run your start button on the left, is there a specific reason for that? Also what is your view on map switches, I assume the Gasgas can use the KTM Powerpart? Thank you again for the excellent and informative real world content.
Thanks for the support! I suppose I got used tp the starter button on that side. It might be a little easier to start the bike on an incline while slipping the clutch. You do need to buy a mapping switch additionally. Thats something I don't use that much but I may purchase one.
I listened to Rich on Kyle Brothersen’s Dirt bike Channel Podcast a couple of nights ago, was really informative and i I highly recommend listening to it..10/10 👍😄
Is it better than Sherco? I saw that you were riding Sherco before. Regards from Croatia, we watch all of your videos here. If you come to Croatia, you have a place to stay.
Thanks for the video and passion you put in. 2 questions: 1) some people put a weight on the flywheel (up to 350 gr). Have u ever considered such a mod ? 2) How is the handlebar height compared to KTM and HQV ? I read GasGas has more aggressive position (ie lower) Thanks!
Yes I have ran a Flywheel weight. I'll most likely run this machine stock for a while, then test a weight. Its a lot about preference. The handle bars are slightly lower, but it's not too much different to me.
Do you recommend 80/100-21 for off road racing? I race a 2005 450x and those bike are weak in turning. I've got a Tubliss system in both tires, but I don't want bend the rim with rocks. Thank you! Happy 2021!
When you say silicone in the switch blocks, what type do you use. Here in Australia, it would mean using silicone sealant you'd never get those connections apart again.
The bore of the clutch MC on the KTM/GasGas are different. You can change the KTM to feel like the GasGas/Husky with a different MC. Maybe Rich will cover that in a video. I believed the KTM he was riding had that mod.
dude no bark busters? These not only protect your hands, but your levers. I ride tight eastern single track and hit a tree every ride. Sometimes the tree hits me.
Rich I heard you did a tsp upgrade from South Bay Moto. Will you be reviewing this? Also how’s the stock suspension been now that you have some hours on it?
Hi Rich, love your content. Wanted to ask about your thoughts about increasing rear teeth wheel from 50 to 52. I'm riding KTM 250 TPI Chile and recently moved from the glorious 250 carburetor and still can't get used to the low rpm engine reaction 😔. Greetings from Israel 🤘
Do you know of any aftermarket levers for Braketec? I tend to snap the OEM levers. I love ARC memlon levers. I have been unable to locate aftermarket levers and the OEM parts finder on AOMC indicates that the OEM levers are stupid expensive. TY!
Hi Rich, just traded my 19 sherco for the ec 300 for this years romaniacs (couldn't get a 21 sherco due to covid). My 18 tpi did not perform well in extreme (slipperly) enduro condtions like the sherco has as no where near as tractable. Any tips on mapping or pv springs (does the green spring make any difference nopw?) to dull down the back wheel a little? Im a big believer in adapting to each machine in general but any advice on that particular element would appreciated. TIA ✊💨
Some people feel wraparounds can be a danger to your hands/wrists if you wreck and go over the bars. I had a head-on collision with another bike, not even that fast, but I got a compound fracture (broke my hand off, basically) and I feel it was because my hand tried to go forward through the handguard which being a wraparound did not give way.
Rich, do you run stock footpegs or larger aftermarket ones? Curious as I have always gone to larger footpegs on my trials motorcycle but didn't hear you mention them as add on you did.
Im not sure what you mean by 1234. But if you are talking the triple clamp mounting I use position A which is stock, closest hole to the tank. There are only two positions though A and B. If you are talking bar position there five different lines. I run them centered. I covered that at 5:35 in the video.

There are tons of shorter riders everywhere from 5'0" to 5'7" that never setup their bikes properly and are afraid to tackle sliding the forks up the triple, softening the rear coil and adjusting the bars properly to compensate for their lack of leg length !

How much more oil does the recluse cover allow you to put in the gearbox? And also how does the anodising hold up?
I believe it's an extra 50cc's of oil. I'm sure the anodizing is solid, but it will probably scratch with the abuse I put them through.
The 80/100 front. You prefer this to the fatter 90/100 or 90/90. This size have sharper handling?
