    We have to add a quick redaction to the review! The Triple clamps are actually forged aluminum, not cast. That would mean they are stronger than billet and also most likely flex less!! But we can still stand by the statement "it won't make a huge difference on the machine!"
    Thanks for the support! Enjoy the Review!

    I spent the day on this bike yesterday, also rode it back to back with a 300xc-w and they feel a lot different. I'm really impressed, this is the best KTM brand bike I've been on so far. At $700 less than a KTM I was expecting something to be of lesser quality but I did not find that to be the case.

    Great review Rich! Myself and many others appreciate your unbiased opinion on all the bikes you've ridden. I've heard many riders claim that the GasGas is just another KTM or a "red" KTM, but your review provided the necessary breakdown of the differences that separate it from the KTM/Husky. Anxious to hear more from you on the GasGas in the future!

    Not often I can watch a review and agree with everything but in this case I can ... I don't ride a gas gas personally I am on the huski te 250 2021 (my first tpi) they have the mugura clutch masters that i changed for a brembo 9 to get the softer feel othere than that the only thing I found was the gearing not allowing me to ride 3rd as much as I needed ( might have been better with a 300) so changed the rear sprocket to a 51 now I am very happy with the tpi . The part of the review where you mention the throttle sensitivity is key until i worked this out I was riding the bike like a carb bike clutching it everywhere but when I Dialled in And worked out to concentrate on the excelarator more I became 1 with the bike ..... only took 40 hrs of riding it to get there 🤣 thanks for the input dude your a legend 👊🏻

    I’ve got a 2020 300xcw and a 2021 beta 300rr. Definitely a noticeable difference in low end power delivery between the 2. Beta holds traction better and isn’t as sensitive to throttle input. The TPI definitely spins up and breaks traction easier if your not careful with throttle control.

    First/ thank you for sharing your knowledge and everything you do !
    Just picked one of these up-under 2 hours- got pretty strong clutch drag when all the way in. (Bled twice/hot oil) - did yours do it at all ?
    Second question- how come you run 100 width on rear- lot of top riders ride up to 140.
    Thanks and cheers !

    Hey Rich I have clocked over 1000+ hours on all the model TPI's and the 2021 300's are the smoothest best running TPI's to date. Currently have a 2020 XC and 2021 XC and the 2021 by far is smoother and more power right off the bottom

    • @codyjoseph44
      @codyjoseph44 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is just because of the inconsistency he talked about. The 2020 and 2021 are identical, and use the same maps. No upgrades were made to the TPI system in '21. Any new maps for the '21 are compatible with the '20... Also, I believe is has been confirmed that the Gas gas uses the exact same mapping as the husky/ ktm. I don't doubt your '21 runs better, but its not by design, these bikes are just very inconsistent.

  • @nuthintoprove
    @nuthintoprove 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your reviews ROCK. I appreciate the honesty. Have you tried the idle circuit mod where you can adjust the air mixture at idle? I don't know anything about TPI yet, as I don't own one. However I plan on it and would like to know if this is why they all slightly vary in off idle response.

    Should I buy a gas gas 300 instead of a ktm 300 for my first woods bike. I like to ride technical single tracks and climb hills. My current bike is a 2013 yz250 and I love the power of it but I need a more trail worthy bike. I’m leaning towards the gas gas because of price and reviews but I don’t want to be disappointed I’m not buying a ktm I originally planned on. Few hundred bucks don’t make a big difference but the reviews on the new gas gas are pretty good

    Great video. I searched in the spare part catalogue of my Husky with magura and found out the diameter of the clutch cylinder is 9,5 mm. I checked also the Brembo for KTM EXC 300 and it is 9mm. If these cat are correct I suppose there might be other reasons why the Gas Gas clutch is easier to pull.

I have a 2020 300 EXC TPI and had to do the idle screw mod and wind the air screw all in then half out to get it really running great, also did the twostrokeperformance medium.head and their ecu remap. Great review Rich! I've had my eye on Gas Gas recently because the local Husky dealer, where I bought my TE300i, started carrying Gas Gas. I like the idea that you said it's a KTM but different, which is what some people would say about Husky vs KTM or vice versa. I'm not sure of the differences in sprockets or gears but does the EC have the same transmission spacing feel as the TE and XCW, the slow creeper 1st ? I am really looking forward to hearing more from you as you continue to put hours on the bike. Keep up the great content!

    I personally bought the last 300 Sherco Factory and love it. But as you said I would change the clutch master cylinder for a softer one. After few minutes in hard sections I feel my forearm tired by using the clutch with one finger. And I adjusted the suspensions because too hard to my opinion. I weight about 91kg without equipment though.
    But I like the Gas gas Rich and I think months after months you will discover new things that bike is able to do with your skill.
    Cheers from France!

    Bought mine on the 9th, snapped my clutch lever yesterday. Tried to switch it out for my friends 2021 KTM XC-W lever and it wouldn't fit. It's got the same kind of engagement as the Brembo but the pin is a different size and the shape of the lever itself is slightly different. Seems like this Braktec is proprietary for this bike, as other Braktec clutch levers have a pin engagement instead of a cup and ball. Any idea on where to get a replacement?

Sliver wheels, cast triples, brake tech brake and clutch master cylinders along with the brake tech slave doesn’t bother me a bit. If they weren’t a decent product they wouldn’t have used them. Personally I’m not a fan of the tpi because they made the power too smooth and are taking away from the hit of a carbureted 2 stroke. They honestly feel less powerful. The beta 300rr is the strongest most powerful engine right now imo because it’s still carbureted.

  • @hphillips7425

    I am not a fan of TPI for the simple reason it is not simple and adds to the margin for failure. If the oil system has the slightest hiccup the engine is toasted.

    • @kimojon9665

      That's not true. And these TPI bikes have been bullet proof, go watch some of the hard enduro pros, they all ride TPI (except sherco) and have no problems. I guarantee you can't ride anywhere near the level of theses guys. I've got a newer KTM 300 TPI bike, and at first I was like you, now I touch the starter button and head out into my 50 mile out in the middle of nowhere ride and don't even think twice about it. Several hours later going as strong as the first day I bought her.

    The only thing that would make me go ktm over gas gas or husky... I have a great dealer in my home town. Trailside sports in ESPANOLA Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 sells YAMAHA KTM and Suzuki. I love my YAMAHA yz250 and don't plan to switch. But I'm very sure Kevin would hook me up on a KTM any minute I asked.
    They also ship world wide if your paying.

    For me personally it doesn't make sense to make 3 bikes with exactly same engine, what's the point? It's like Lamborghini would have only one engine with different chassis....stupid. KTM killed husky and now GasGas.

      Not saying I disagree but this is sort of the times we live in. Lamborghini is owned by Audi so they do use the same engine in multiple chassis. And I read GasGas was struggling so if this keeps them alive to be now under KTM, and they can make the bikes different enough it COULD be a good thing long run. What I don't like is the steady increase of pricing and with KTM owning 3 brands, they can sort of dictate what a new bike is worth since they have that much more market share.

      @@chickenbotham Very good point, less and less competition for ktm translates to higher prices.

    It’s a ktm. With how much people customize bikes they are all different in the end. Still a KTM

    Judging by the name I thought it was a Chinese knockoff. Cool to know it's a decent bike.

    And the main reason he is telling us that the gas gas runs better is ..........TA DA , He is being paid or sponsored to endorse the product.

      The only company that is paying me for the content on this channel is IRC Tire. MotoStation is supplying the bikes but there is no exclusivity. They don't even sell bikes. I can ride anything I want.
      This year I will be hopefully testing the Gas Gas, KTM, Beta, maybe even a TM. Ideally every brand. So I'm not paid by any means by Gas Gas, its just a great bike.

    Dude you speak only in platitudes and half statements! These comparisons and reviews are useless if you just say it's all relative and different etc etc. You should make more definitive statements to make your conclusions more clear.
