Excellent advice once again. I've been practicing the walk behind wheelie and that seems to help me with learning my clutch control, keep the vids coming.
Just installed IRC tires on my 14' 300xcw. Thanks Rich, my 11yr old son and I are truly learning how to control our bikes thanks to you. He was excited to practice these drills.
I have the rear brake on the handle bars. Index finger for the clutch and middle finger for the brake. Finger dexterity improved so much. After the change. Now I can easily manage to start on an up hill by letting releasing the brake with the middle finger while holding the clutch on the engagement point. It did take a lot of practice to get the different actions connected to the correct finger.
Couldn't agree more with with Jesse, I have already learned a lot form the few videos I have watched! Looking forward to many more and practicing what I am learning.
I wish you had talked about adjusting the lever as well. Can't tell you how many times I have seen people struggle because they don't understand how to adjust the lever first. Great video. Thank you.
I've noticed that the clutch engagement point is different on all my bikes. Even though my Beta has a Brembo Clutch, it engages at a different point than my KTMs with Brembo clutches. Same thing on the yamaha I have right now. They are all a little different.
100 percent! It's all about getting used to your machine! But the better the dexterity is in you clutch finger the quicker you can adjust from bike to bike!
I ride alot of extreme Enduro at Holytree, AL., And at Trials Training Center in Tennessee where they host the Redbull TKO. I have learned so much from watching your videos and I just wanted to say thank you and keep it up! Thanks, Wendell
I completely understand what you experienced when you used your index finger instead of your middle finger. I learned to ride enduro on a 15 year old bike with a really hard clutch that forced me to use 2 fingers. I recently upgraded to a newer bike with a much lighter clutch and I thought it would be better to use 1 finger on the clutch so that i can hold on to the handlebars better, boy was I in for a lesson... Had to learn clutch control all over!
Hey mate, any tips to help break a bad habit of four-finger clutching? I’m trying to change to one finger but everything about it feels wrong, especially the feeling of the lever pulling onto my other fingers. I know my riding will progress a lot more if I can get the hang of it. Any advice you could give would be appreciated! Churs, M
I've never done extreme enduro - just desert/freeride/tracks -- but I have been riding my entire life and we always called it "feathering" the clutch. How can someone even ride a dirtbike without knowing the engagement points/gradient of their clutch 😂??? ...But I must say, those one-footed walking wheelies look amazing, I'll definitely be trying these out when I have a bike again.
How much does your bike weigh? Its incredible what you do with it. Make it look like a bicycle. I wonder if i could do this with a heavier drz 400. Also, I'd like to practise more clutch control but keep worrying about destroying the clutch or wearing out the engine.
I race xc. I’m a vet c guy. There was a bad bottleneck on a big slick hill today . It’s an easy hill as long as you have the speed and momentum to get up it. The problem was the hill was so clogged up with fallen over bikes there was nowhere to go. I ended up falling over and I absolutely could not get going again. Ended up going back down and it cost me 11 minutes. Is there any way to get going again on a slippery hill without killing yourself or wearing yourself out by pushing?
I have one on my bike now for about 4 months and it’s so far the best tire I’ve used in slow rocky/rooty terrain. It was a replacement for the Kenda Ibex which was very good too.
Clutch work gives me arm pump. Especially when things get tight. Hate it. My hand will end up almost useless. Almost 50 I guess it’s par for the course. Trying to hold of on a Rekluse for as long as possible
Obviously 'slipping' the clutch wears on the clutch, but how concerned should I be when using these low speed maneuvers as far as accelerated wear might go. Changing the pads is easy , but is it like I'd have to change them every week if I'm doing a lot of this, or might the hold up pretty well for a month or so .. ? They're immersed in oil, but still, I have no idea what kind of wear takes place under these kinds of drills.
Genius of a human being that is sharing his amazing talent
Finding your channel was a great win!
Me and you both man!👌

Your mic sucks
You make good videos as well
Love your riding and analysis Rich!
Your videos are excellent, loving the content. Consider investing in a mic. Even a cheap lav mic would do wonders for the production value of these.

Thanks,

I have a yz250x and with a cable clutch i have no choice but to use 2 fingers.
4:24 somebody's risking his balls 😆
Love it! Keep it up, darn-it!👍
Another great video!
grreat content mate
A trials bike is a great way to learn clutch and throttle control.

Top help, top videos! Ken you help me with one question, is the beta xtrainer 300 a nice bike for a beginner in enduro more technical? Thanks

Dear rich
How do you think the bitepoint/engage point suppose to be?
With the clutch lever close/faraway from the bar??
BR
Great stuff.
Thanks a lot

Isn't there (or is there) any top riders using an auto clutch like Rekluse CX?
Awesome
Rich, you give me hope.....
Brilliant Thanks!..
Thanks great stuff!
I used to use the middle finger, once I went to the index, much better feel, would never go back
Rich "YOUR" vids are way ahead of the game by a long shot...consider putting "the show" on the road
Thats where all the irc tires are my local dealers couldn't get them. Hope to try them next round.👍

How often you change clutch on hard enduro?
Video starts at 2:00 mark
Great video.
Please get a better mic set-up. On camera mics suck.
Even a cheap lav is 100x better.

I’ve always slipped the clutch quite a lot on my bike and it’s still on the original clutch plates after nine years
@@jamesbisset9891 haha, cool, thanks.
I can’t find those D.I.D rims anywhere
0:36 Where is this amazing place ???? :-)
👍
I use just my middle finger too. Weird, we must be extremely smart or something.
Your audio is exhausting get a microphone, your content is worth it. Just my 2 cents
Good tips but how many clutches do you burn through practicing this lol
How to fry your clutch hHaha
👍
