  • In this video, we'll be showing you how to install fiber optic star lights into a drop ceiling at the University of Toronto. Fiber optic star lights are a great way to add a touch of magic and sophistication to any room, and they're especially popular in theaters, planetariums, and other educational settings. With just a few simple steps and some basic tools, you can transform your plain drop ceiling into a dazzling starry night sky.
    We'll start by walking you through the materials you'll need for the job, including fiber optic cables, light source, and a drop ceiling panel. Then, we'll guide you through the process of poking holes into the ceiling panel, feeding the fiber optic cables through the holes, and attaching them to the light source. By the end of this video, you'll have all the knowledge and skills you need to create a stunning starry sky in your own location. So grab your tools and let's get started!

    That is so cool dude, nice work. I am working on making my pop machine landscape come alive and this is an idea for consideration. Really like it. Only thing I would have added is to paint the frames black so that the ceiling looked cleaner. But maybe you had a reason for that...

    I have watched this video many, many times and finally embarked on executing this for my home theater room. The effect is incredible - and incredibly time consuming to achieve haha. I must be slow, but it's taking me 90-120 minutes per tile to upholster, poke, thread, and glue, and clip all the fibers. I have 25 2'x4' tiles to do, so I'll be living in my basement for a while to get it finished. Kudos to you for an excellent tutorial, thank you!!

    Very cool! Any recommendations on light modules that you've had good success with, features that are worth it, or the ballpark cost for a quality product?

    What material would you recommend for a space where they don’t have ceiling tiles, for example in a hometheater room

    Would it be brighter if you wrapped the main fiber core runs in some kind of reflective tape or material to stop the light loss into the ceiling?

    Can we just use much whiter fabrics or sheets for ceiling instead of use pure black fabrics?

  • @badkarma28
    @badkarma28 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Amazing!
    Few questions..
    Would it be easier/more efficient to...
    -cut angles before inserting strands
    -use a long thread hook to poke and grab the fiber optics.
    -hotglue in lines instead of one by one
    - trim strands with electric hair trimmer
    Thats what I would do but.....I also get ahead of myself and mess up with my "great ideas" ideas!

    • @corpingtons
      @corpingtons 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You wouldn’t hot glue in lines because it wouldn’t be hot enough

    How do you link all 3 modules together to turn on at the same time is it in the app or something please?

    • @soundheadquarters
      @soundheadquarters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes all three are grouped together in the app, and even with the remote since all of the light engines are next to each other when you use the remote they all change together. Thanks for watching

      We didn't have the modules connected, but all of the receivers are close by and all change when you point the remote. They are all also grouped controlled via phone app
