at the art academy someone made an analogue version of this, with a thin film of oil and a flexible table top, so when pushing on top of the table, you could manipulate the oil film. that was mesmerizing stuff, this has the same visceral effect on me, simple, touch sensitive, and an object that responds to your touch. First of all: Great work i realy enjoy watching people beeing as creativ as you so keep doing this. One question: the music played at the outro. What is it called? Have a nice day.
The main question I always have with tables like this, is how to handle power cables. If it's wired to an outlet it is incredibly inconvenient for chairs etc around the table - and if its operating on batteries then you have to swap them from time to time which is also inconvenient and something high-paying customers wouldn't want to deal with. It's difficult to find an elegant solution to this problem that would fit into any home. Wireless charging is not feasible, perhaps dropping a wire from the ceiling (like a ceiling lamp-style solution) would work but man that adds a lot of extra thought and planning.. Have you considered this aspect in greater detail? If so, it would be interesting to hear about your findings.
Awesome...but how do you power it? I wouldn't want a power-cord lying on my carpet to trip over, so I imagine batteries, if so, are they rechargeable and how long do they last?
