penguin dads are such champs. like, he starves for 2 months while his wifey gets food and then the baby hatches. he takes the last of his food he's been eating for 2 whole months and gives it to the baby, then waits for the mother to return, continuing to starve.

Penguins are by far more sophisticated then I could imagine, it’s almost human like behavior. Can anyone explain to me how they are how they are? Compared to an ape or a monkey who are the closest animal to us, they can be barbaric and catastrophic.

Thank you, immensely for sharing and airing this. I watched the full program last evening on PBS television and was delightfully moved to tears. I love all things nature, but this truly took the prize. It was fascinating to see how the penguin's full circle and process of life takes place, as well as how their characters and strong bond towards each other develop over time. This program delivers such an amazing revelation of how our creator created both the human species and all animals, (including penguins) perfectly, and flawlessly. It was interesting to learn and see how dedicated, responsible, caring, loving, and bonded the males and females were with their little hatchlings. I loved how they interacted with one another while exchanging roles and responsibilities to the hatchlings. I was easily brought to tears when it came time for the males to part from the hatchlings, and their mates for a short while. I won't give away all of the spoilers, because this is certainly a program worth watching and fully enjoying from beginning to end. Thank you, again! Wonderful program, and highly educational.

Penguins really just sit in the middle of no where doing either nothing, swimming, or having children. It makes me feel like they choose to be there themselves considering they could flourish in so many different ways if they continued to explore the rest of the globe.

If you wanna bring environments into the mix Antarctica wasn't Always covered in ice and penguin species date back to about 50 mya (before any ice ages) not to mention chinstrap and blue fairy penguins live on the coasts of southern Africa and south America. And most of the ancient Penguin fossils are found all over. So penguins have proved they are more than able to explore and go into the world, of course this takes millions of years and it's not instantaneous. But just because something is built for the cold doesn't mean it can't survive elsewhere...if a penguin is somewhere warm it's body wont store as much fat and vice versa. The reason emperor penguins only live in Antarctica is because of the influx of predators Round the world like seals. dolphins and ect. Something they didn't have to worry about for about fifty million Years that's why they used to get so big and they dominated the globe. Sooo as I was saying, as of recent the globe is warming and my hypothesis was "if penguins stayed out at sea just a while longer and ended up in other places, they have a chance to explode in diversity again." Animals are very hardy, you're taking way too much credit away from how efficient and adaptive animals are.
