- Bob Clouser demonstrates tying his Clouser Minnow, a very effective fly in both freshwater and saltwater and great for bass, redfish and many other species.
Filmed at the First Coast Fly Fishers in Jacksonville, FL
Thank you Bob for sharing your technique. Please don't be upset with the critics. They permeate the internet and have nothing good to offer. Great work and thank you again.
What a true master Mr. Clouser is.I have been tying flies for 40+ years, and I’m amazed at how easy he makes it look.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
J.C. Bob, thought you died years ago! I remember when you designed this fly and have copied it for years.. So glad to see you are on this side of the daisies! I have caught so many species of fish with your pattern. I suggest to all to simply tie 50 of these, short, long, thick, thin, and fish from there. this pattern will become a go-to pattern on any lake or river. Thanks so much Bob for your contribution to fishing, You are such a legend!
Bob you are a genius to think up the Clouser minnow! It’s such an effective fly in both salt and fresh water.
What a simple and effective pattern. Thanks to Bob Clouser for allowing this video to be filmed and put onto TH-cam for all of our benefit. The oval and angle technique is something new to me I'm looking forward to trying on the vice this year.
Thank you! Been tying these for twenty years and this is the first time I’ve watched the legend.
I was lucky to get to video him. He’s a great teacher. We also had casting lessons from him that day.
This is by far the best demo videos of the Clouser Minnow I have every seen. I meet Bob at the NC Fly Fishing Show in Raleigh last year. It was honor to watch him tie and attend his casting demonstrations. Many thanks for posting this video.
There are lots of ways to tie a Clouser and this looks to be a good one. Since this video is made by Bob Clouser I would say this is the best and most authoritative technique I've seen. Good for you, Bob, and thanks for the video. I'll be tying streamers using your methods from now on. John
It's hard to go wrong following the creator of the fly. Thanks for the comment. Bob was a true gentleman letting me do this video. If you ever get a chance for a casting lesson from him dont miss it!
I watched a couple of videos on tying the clouser before finding this one. Mr. Clouser is simply in a class of his own. Great video and great teaching skills.
YES! The original Clouser Minnow has the dumbbell eyes one third the way down the hook shank rather than just behind the hook eye. Good to see the originator of the pattern show us the correct way of positioning the eyes.....
Probably the single greatest fly ever created....... And yet so simple
Just met Bob at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival this weekend. A pleasure, he gave a very interesting presentation on small mouth and large mouth bass fishing on the fly. Enjoyed it and learned a lot..
thanks for uploading this, the cat's finally out of the bag! I had no idea the correct way to tye this fly, not even the eyes! so many tips that can be applied to other streamers as well. from starting the thread to applying the epoxy was thoroughly explained. thanks again!
21 thumbs down? Must surely be for the editing and camera work. I could listen to Bob Clouser's voice all day long.
Pikeandslippers - I didn’t plan on filming when I went to the event. It was a last minute thing and ended up using a GoPro for the wide shot...less than ideal. But the information is priceless - and free.
@@FlyFishVideo it wasn't so much a criticism, as an observation of the only thing I could think as to why folk would thumbs down it. For me, it should have no dislikes at all.
I've never seen anyone not do the figure eight to secure the eyes. Glad to know even the inventor does it the way I do.lol
Originally tied for smallmouth, has grown immensely, great saltwater fly
Since Bob clouser is the originator of this fly I wouldn't expect to see him tie it wrongly!
Pink and white closer is my favorite saltwater fly. I'll try it this spring on steelhead!
I've caught more bass and pickerel on this fly than any other. Classic pattern that works extremely well in fresh and saltwater.
great vid, helped me to tie perfect clousers :-) THX

very good demo
great video
Ah, so that's how it's done! Thanks!
Le vrai Clouser Minnow!
If I could have only one fly, this would be it.
Well Bob is the guy who invented this fly...
Brilliant
Bob what size dumbbell eyes would u use on the clouser in size 8 up to a 1/0 hook I am new to this one want to match up eyes and hook to different hook sizes great video on how to make this bait thank u for any help
Great video. But Please just focus on the closeups - when the camera is so far away we can’t see what Bob is even referring to
Hey this guy's name is the same as the fly he's tying - what's the chances...
'Genius!
camera work is awful, but Bob still tells you exactly how to tie the fly.
Also sprach Zarathustra!!!
so sick of people
Great video, possibly the worst audio on youtube
