I wish I had seen this video sooner. Useful tip to nip a small hole in the flash bag to be able to take a couple out at a time while the rest stay intact. I also like the splitting of the bucktail with the bodkin needle after a few wraps to keep it evenly divided on the hook.
This is a terrific series of fly tying videos. Please keep them coming. Excellent instruction. Thank you for your time and effort. Best regards.......Kevin.
Well, you young guys got it good, when I first tied a Clouser, all I had was the article in Fly Fisherman and Fly Tyer by Bob Clouser to go on! You are right its a very easy fly to tie, the hard part is getting the right amount of materials on the hook. That is the trick, I ended up if I thought it was the right amount , I would cut it by a third to a half. I caught a lot of fish mostly strippers with it, its one of my go to salt water flies, That one, Gartside Gurgler, Surf Candy and Lefty Deceiver, I keep it pretty simple, 2/0 down to size 8, and I am into Strippers and Blue fish all season long if the fish are in close enough, I don't have a boat. I do a lot of inshore saltwater fishing during the hot dog days, when the trout fishing slows down a bit. Also for some reason I like smoked bluefish!

Peter, in the videos where you apply Hard As Nails, what kind of “applicator” are you using?
whoever hit the dislike button had to have done it by accident because this is one of the best produced clouser instructional vids I have seen

Nice and straight forward. I'm in Tampa Bay and have caught inshore about 20 species with this same pattern

Awesome tip on just slitting the side of the bag of flash, way easier to fish out the strands!
Thank you for an excellent video on tying the Clouser Minnow !
Such a simple looking fly! And it works?
what thread is that?
Danville fine monofilament or ultra fine. It's usually available in fly shops.
