    The Bell Race Star Flex uses 5 shell sizes with 6 impact liner sizes to reduce the size of the outer shell as well as deliver an optimal fit. The new Race Star features an updated headfoam for additional comfort.
    Snell 2015 and DOT Approved
    We feel the Bell Race Star Helmet has an INtermediate Oval Shape, while offering a race fit with on/off effort similar to the Shoei X-12, Shoei X-14, AGV Corsa/Pista and Bell Race Star Helmets. Using Van as athe benchmark he measures 58cm with an Intermediate Oval Head Shape which according to the Bell Size Chart puts him in a medium. In his opinion the size Medium Race Star Helmet delivers a true race fit that runs consistent with the helmets listed above in the same size (Medium). Compared the the Ari Corsair X the Star has a tighter fit and requires more on/off effort, the differnce in fit feels like almost 1/2 size. The HJC RPHA 11 Pro Helmet requires a little less on/off effort with a fit that feels juist a touch looser than the Bell Race Star.
    3.35 Ibs vs. 3.65 Ibs from the previous model.
    Glasses fit 7 out of 10.
    Speaker Pockets.
    Adjustable top pad for fit fine tuning.
    Remove the front vent plug for more ventilation.
    All sizes of the cheek pads are interchangeable.
    Redesigned shape no longer folds your ears over.

    Hi Dude ! i love so much your video that, i've hesitated between many helmets before buying one of them, ( actually i have a Bell star since 2012 , and it's time to change it, even if it is still a good helmet), but your presentation of this new one convinced me , and i place my order with this new Bell Race Star Flex DLX Solid Matt Black, and when i receive it, i tell you my sentiment about it , i live in France, and the price is a little less expensive in euros than in U.S Dollars... so thank's a lot for your presentation !

    This is an excellent helmet for the money. For the money no other helmet really compares for the same money.
    Bell has done a great job making improvements. Only thing they need to do is make detents so the shield can be used in multiple positions instead of just open and closed. Also they should add pinlock to the Protint screen. With those changes I think Bell would dominate the market.
    Also if you are at the edge of size, go a size up.
    With that said, I wish they made this all matte carbon in all gloss carbon.

    Hi Van great review as always! I'm looking at this helmet, the Shoei X Spirit 3 and Arai RX 7v. I currently have the Arai Chaser in medium and its a great quiet comfortable fit . With with the restrictions in movement here in the UK currently trying helmets on isn't possible at the moment so i'm buying online. I'm tempted to stick with Arai but the Bell and Shoei have some great features and 5 * Sharp rating and they are cheaper! any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jase

    Nicely done review. Hit on some details like the spacer to adjust the inner height fit that others did not. Would be nice to have an "on the road" ride to address noise and buffeting qualities. That is, ultimately, the long term ride comfort factor.

    Whoever is considering this helmet, please note that out of the box it fits like a glove... on your foot, BUT this helmet breaks in like no other, it literally molds to you heads and after a few days it will fit better than any other helmet you've worn! I bought this helmet in the Roland Sands edition, mostly because the design looked like an old pack of Lucky Strikes. The day the it arrived and first put it on it felt like the worse helmet I have ever forced my head into, it was cutting off the circulation to my temple and it was pulling on my ears, it was just plain uncomfortable. But I soldiered on, wore it in the house, forced my head to imprint into the soft outer foam, and after a while it did just that, it took the shape of my head and now it fits like a custom molded helmet. It went from being the worse helmet I have ever worn, to one of the most comfortable. The best helmet role still goes to the Suomy Spec1R and it's Alcantara lining, but those are no longer track legal due to old age.

    • @paddywestside1419
      @paddywestside1419 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man i had exactly the same problem with a race star...it was so uncomfortable on the temples that i eventually returned it...if i read this at the time i may have kept it...
      Ended up getting a shoei nxr which isnt looking as sharp and isnt as aerodynamic...but it fits right from the start. But since then I always look at the Bell helmets and think about getting another one just to try 😅

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For sure you need to wear this helmet for a few minutes before you really form an opinion. The flex liner will shape itself to your head completely changing how it feels on your head. With all helmets we tell people to wear this in the house long enough to make sure you like the fit BEFORE you ride in it. - Van

    • @Uninfluenceable
      @Uninfluenceable 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshuanavarro6406 I own a medium Arai RX7 and VX3, and a medium Suomy Spec-1R and Spectre. I bought the medium RaceStar and like I mentioned before it was at first uncomfortable but then broke in and it fit perfect. You can maybe buy one size larger to avoid that initial discomfort, but then when it breaks in you might have a loose helmet. Up to you....

    Your video is very interesting but I still have some questions
    It's very difficult to make the difference between Race Star et Race star flex. For exemple, the race star flex Lux Matte-Gloss Black-Orange is it, necessarily a part of the last Race Star production? with the pokets for the bluetooth and the lighter weight version? as for the matte black how to recognize it ? Especially if it does not have the shield protint... this is the case on all websites that I consult especially in France. So I purchased a large and it no longer fits, I've gone on amazon and noticed they make different size liners for the helmet (5mm vs 15mm) I haven't been able to determine what size my liner is, but I'm hoping its 5mm so I can get a snugger fit with the 15mm. What do you know about this?

      15mm top pad is thicker than OEM

      Cap'nCioT, You need to compare it with the x-803 RS carbon. Most stable, lightest and best ventilation I've experienced so far. Will be picking up a race star for road and a backup track helmet as well as the suomy sr-gp to compare. Only heard good things about the Bell, just not a fan of the graphics. But the magnetic pads and protint seems like it'll make life easier.

      @@andreisimion373 hey, I did get the sr-gp. It fits well and I've been using it a lot. The view port is huge and that's the best part. It's definitely a lot louder and the liner fits differently but is still comfortable. Air flow is superb on both of them. However the xlite liner is still the best I've felt. Even better than the shark race-r pro gp I just got, which feels a bit rough. What did you not like about it?

    • @andreisimion373
      @andreisimion373 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chenspeed Don't exactly know how to explain it, it kind of felt a bit flimsy, the helmet itself as well as the top center vent. The liner felt a bit "spartan" (this is comparing to an Arai RX-7V and a Shark Race-R Pro Carbon). The exterior of the model I got (the On Board grey fluo model) didn't seem like it was painted, more like it had a wrapping on it and some imperfections with the design alignment. I find it hard to believe that guys like Dovi and Bagnaia are riding in this exact helmet.
      That said, it does have good parts. It looks good, very aggressive, there are 4 shell sizes and M I got was compact, the eye port is indeed big, the visor is thick and seems sturdy, and it's probably very aerodynamic (returned it so did not get to try it on a bike).
      Ah one more thing which is probably user error, I have no idea how the chin curtain is meant to be installed on this helmet :)

      I have an Arai RX7, a Shoei RF1000, Suomy Spec1R and this Bell Race Star helmet. The Arai and Suomy fit the best out of the box, the Bell has the best/largest eye port opening with Arain and Suomy slightly smaller and the Shoei having the worse/smallest opening. Shoei feels like wearing binoculars, really poor visibility. As far liner, the Suomy wins hands down with the alcantara liner, then the Shoei with the soft fabric liner, then the Arai with a scratchier liner, and Bell in last place with the scratchies liner. As for visor change, Bell has the best one hands down, then the Shoei, then in distant last is the Arai and even worse on the Suomy due to the pivot cover. As for finish and graphic, Suomy hands down the winner, it looks like a custom handmade one off helmet, then the Bell (at least Roland Sands design), and then the Shoei and Arai in last because their 2019 graphics are just plain boring. Arai's 2006 Pedrosa design (which is what i have) was the last good looking graphic, personal opinion.

      I like them both and feel they are both safe, high end helmets. The Corsair X and Race Star offer a different fit when compared which is the biggest difference between them IMO. The Star requires more effort to put on and take off than the Corsair X. When it comes to comfort the Arai edges out the Bell a touch. The only way to really understand this is to try them both on which is not easy to do. If you prefer a tighter, race fit the Bell is the way to go. Hope this helps. - Van

      To be fair all of these are great helmets IMO. The Race Star offers the Flex Liner and the Protint shield which are both excellent features. The Flex liner manages impact very well and allows the helmet to adapt to the shape of your head increasing comfort. The Arai is a proven performer in big crashes and has the highest build quality of the helmets you noted. The AGV is the lightest of the bunch with the largest field of vision and excellent airflow. With the AGV the only thing I don't love is the very angular shape. IMO a rounder helmet is more likely to catch on something as compared to a round shell that is more likely to skim over imperfections while crashing.
