    I have the 2018 (non DLX version) and it does run small side to side out of the box. I took out the liner and removed the top pad (it was attached to the liner by Velcro) and put the liner back in. This fixed the fitment for me. I got pressure points before I did that. I found out by reading one of the comments on this video. Wish I knew before I bought the 25mm cheek pads and then gave up on the helmet and bought a RF 1200 from you guys. Guess I have 2 useable helmets now. This is a great helmet. Compared to my Shoei RF-1200 It has better airflow, visibility, 5 shell sizes (vs 4), built in fog protection (Shoei needs a pinlock) and is quieter. I will say the Shoei did get the little things right on the helmet, there are no excess strings hanging anywhere unlike the Bell. Also the Bell’s visor can only go from fully open to fully closed. This isn’t a con for me because I can’t even ride with my Shoei partially cracked open, I don’t know how other riders do it.

    • @GBDubstep
      @GBDubstep 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost forgot. Compared to the Shoei the on effort is harder, but the off effort is easier. I had surgery on my ears so this is important and thought people would like to know.

    Van,
    Another excellent and informative review, thanks for all the time you put into this! One thing to mention is that in this "more is always better" society, helmet manufacturers are making eyeports endlessly wider and taller. This is great for racing, but for street riding (which this helmet is aimed at) being able to look straight up at the sky while riding upright isn't really helpful, and riding into the sun with a dark shield is blinding. I wouldn't call the eye opening on this helmet "excellent" for it's intended purpose, and I'm hoping that some of the manufacturers will get it that the eyeport on the street versions of their helmets could (should!) be much lower than the race versions. Thanks again for a great review!

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer a more open eyeport on the street or the track and would use this in either environment. If you prefer helmets shorter in the brow I would suggest trying a few on before you buy one to find one that gets you where you want to be. Important to note we are all shaped a little differently so one that sits high on my brow may sit lower on yours. - Van

    I tried one on recently at a local retailer because I've read the shield on this model is either all the way closed or all the way open with no detents in between and I often like to ride with the visor cracked open for fresh air. Every time I lifted the visor to the full open position it popped off the hinge on one side. I can't imagine how dangerous this would be while actually riding. Have you experienced this? If so, is there any kind of tension adjustment on the hinges to prevent this from loosening up over time? I've been wondering if the display model was damaged somehow...

    No “helmet review” involves the Primary Function of a helmet;
    Brain Protection. Including this one. Why? Why are there no Impact Test results
    posted for comparison? Answering these two questions can initiate credibility.
    Until then, all these reviews are personal opinion. Information from unreliable
    sources with questionable intelligence and knowledge.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      None of the helmet manufactures will share the impact numbers. As riders we have to rely on DOT, ECE and Snell to set the standards to a level that offers the protection a rider needs. While I agree the primary function of a helmet is to protect the rider I will add it also needs to perform at a high level while riding. The point of these reviews is to share my experience to help riders choose a helmet that meets their personal performance expectations. - Van
