Web of Wyrd is probably the best Hellboy game we currently have, but I still found annoyances with it that were even mentioned in this video. The roguelike element of the game isn't used to its full potential. The locations are quite similar just with a new coat of pain, same can be applied to some of the enemies where they didn't even bother to animate some of the attacks a lil bit differently. Your loadout is quite minimal with the choice of 3 guns and 3 charms and only having your fists as a primary weapon. The blessings you pick up also don't feel interesting enough and never felt really bothered to try and make a specific build with them. The only memorable one was the one that freezes enemies and the rest are deal more damage when *blank* happens and the usual health/currency boost. Traps are only in corridors and are only ever a threat when you just don't care or pay attention(they should have tried to include some in combat rooms that can be used both against you and the enemies). Controls can be uncomfortable. Same with the camera if you get pushed up against a wall. Combat doesn't work as well when they throw multiple bug guys at you. The throwing mechanic is very unpleasant. Small enemies are ignorable and only serve a similar function the fodder enemies did in Doom Eternal just not well executed. And some other lil things and probably some stuff I don't even remember. I did enjoy this game and had fun with it, but I can't lie and pretend its execution is ideal.
I remember being a big fan of the Guillermo Del Toro movies and got Science of Evil when it was new. And like you, I also remember the graphics of that era (and that game specifically) being so impressive and lifelike lol. Haven't touched it in ages but I remember it being weirdly difficult and not fun to play but I beat the game anyway. Although for someone who hadn't read the comics at the time, it felt very weird compared to the movies since I didn't recognize anything from it.
I love how you're videos with Diego just feel like two friends on camera making whatever the fuck they want no matter how janky, and I love it. You guys just wanna make quality shit, and I will always watch it at least 50 times

I’m so glad that this video was released. I pretty much just became a fan of Hellboy after buying a box set from Barnes and Noble, and when I first saw the trailer for Web of Wyrd, I was pretty excited. I feel like I was one of the only people on the planet to be equally as hyped for its release as I was for the release of Spider-Man 2. Currently, I’m taking a break from it because I suck at it. Either way, I’m glad that there is any discussion about Hellboy stuff because I don’t ever hear him or his universe talked about. Great video, and great costume work!

Hellboy’s comic run has to be one of the best comic run or the best comic story I’ve read so far and I wish more people would get into the comics. When it comes to video games, I wish he would get a Witcher 3 style game, where you hunt or encounter supernatural phenomenal like Geralt would.
Web of Wyrd really does capture the comic style of Hellboy. The only thing that irritates me to no end is the voice of Hellboy in this. It’s not the fact that Ron Perlman isn’t voicing him it’s just that Lance Reddick didn’t really fit in with Hellboy to me. Even if not Ron Perlman I have heard other examples like in the animated video of The Crooked Man comic that guy doing Hellboy was a perfect example of an alternative voice. Which is done very well!

15:28 Damn, that Hellboy Java game just brought back a lot of memories from elementary school. I used to play a lot of those Java and Symbian games. I even completed Hellboy and God of War back when Gameloft was the GOAT in mobile gaming. Saying that Hellboy java game is serviceable is an understatement. Even though it was just a Java game, the developers weren’t holding back. It felt like a complete game on a freaking keypad cellphone.

I think IF it got some light progress and simple features like Spider man's Freind or Foe upgrade systems, gain a new move or combo, increase health, speed, damage melee and range, by 10 percent like 5 times each stats. Or like Zelda or Devil Cry May, finding/unlocking a permanent upgrade item. and some rebalance gameplay fixes, and maybe uses a comic cel shaded effect options. Then it could been a better

At some point you reviewers need to learn to use the medium of pre-recorded, edited video to your advantage At 3 separate occasions you describe some audio issue but don't show it happening I could find clips of it on youtube, but then what incentive would I have to come back? Edit: fighting game characters don't have two sets of animations because what they're doing has to be recognizeable at all times, this is why they're always mirrored
I feel like the tomb raider reboot on ps3 would make for a perfect style for hellboy some what linear where you can explore a more of the whole map through progression and upgrading gadgets as you go i feel like this IP has always had issues finding and keeping an identity that works and why it's constantly changing and can't retain a strong fandom i mean we're about to get another movie rebooted again and the trailer looks like the budget was 200 dollars max this franchise keeps nose diving into dumpsters
I beat so many mediocre games on PSP, it was just such a fun system to play that even if the game I got wasn't the best I would still play it in the car and at school sometimes. I actually beat Jackass the Game, and kind of enjoyed it lol.
I liked Web of Wyrd from a visual standpoint and thought it was gorgeous, but I just couldn't get into the gameplay. I bought it on Steam and quickly realized it was designed to be played on console. On keyboard and mouse it was clunky, which really hindered my joy. I wound up quitting right as the nazi enemies showed up as I didn't have a controller to plug into my computer
Web of word was probably the best Hellboy game out there. But if I were to be honest I think Hellboy would have been better off if it was a metroidvania because after playing blasphemous and the last faith I could totally see a Hellboy game working like that

Sounds like Web of Byrd has the same design as the God of War games specially the newer ones , (enter an area and clear it, do some traversing, rinse and repeat) and no one ever complains about those.... I call it selective criticism!!

I played the psp verision of science of evil and really enjoyed it! It wasnt perfect in areas but still a fun playthrough
I definitely agree that the PSP version of Science Of Evil by developer Big Ant Studios (who have made practically nothing but sports games), was definitely better than the 360/PS3 version.
Probably because I’m a fan of open-world/sandbox games, but is it bad that I want an open-world Hellboy game?
At some point you reviewers need to learn to use the medium of pre-recorded, edited video to your advantage

Edit: fighting game characters don't have two sets of animations because what they're doing has to be recognizeable at all times, this is why they're always mirrored

I did not realize that Hellboy had video games, let alone video games going back to the PS1 era.
I feel like the tomb raider reboot on ps3 would make for a perfect style for hellboy some what linear where you can explore a more of the whole map through progression and upgrading gadgets as you go i feel like this IP has always had issues finding and keeping an identity that works and why it's constantly changing and can't retain a strong fandom i mean we're about to get another movie rebooted again and the trailer looks like the budget was 200 dollars max this franchise keeps nose diving into dumpsters

I beat so many mediocre games on PSP, it was just such a fun system to play that even if the game I got wasn't the best I would still play it in the car and at school sometimes. I actually beat Jackass the Game, and kind of enjoyed it lol.
I liked Web of Wyrd from a visual standpoint and thought it was gorgeous, but I just couldn't get into the gameplay. I bought it on Steam and quickly realized it was designed to be played on console. On keyboard and mouse it was clunky, which really hindered my joy. I wound up quitting right as the nazi enemies showed up as I didn't have a controller to plug into my computer

Web of word was probably the best Hellboy game out there.
But if I were to be honest I think Hellboy would have been better off if it was a metroidvania because after playing blasphemous and the last faith I could totally see a Hellboy game working like that

I was that one guy! I was on my t-shirt in mid winter Finland! And I really just did not get cold! I was no trying to be tough guy or anything.. it kinda bothered me that some most likely thought I was trying to Look tought even when I absolutely did not!
Sounds like Web of Byrd has the same design as the God of War games specially the newer ones , (enter an area and clear it, do some traversing, rinse and repeat) and no one ever complains about those.... I call it selective criticism!!
I'm still bugged no one thought o crossovers between hellboy and screw on head like if hellboy or the brpd discovered the long abandoned machine that calls himself screw on head and work together against head's foe, screw on head.
If someone made a romhack of the first game they could make it something special.
I know the GoW clone Hellboy game for 360 and Ps3 wasn't well reviewed but I aure as hell had a good time with it ❤
