Glad the extender turned up - you'll really notice a difference as soon as you hit that first puddle! That 3M VHB tape is excellent stuff (it's usually what's used on GoPro style helmet mounts). Don't try to fit it in situ though, you need to remove the mudguard and it needs pressure and time to fully cure. Per 3M, clean and degrease the surface thoroughly (obvs), apply pressure, (at least 20N/cm²), and the tape achieves full strength after 72 hours at 20⁰C. I'd recommend placing additional strips down each side and clamping the mudguard for 24 hours. I've attached all sorts of things on bikes and cars with this tape and never had a problem, (except if you have to remove the item - then you really find out how strong and permanent it is!)
I’m not sure that adhesive is 3M VHB.... the tape you pull off is red, so they make you think you are getting 3M adhesive, it doesn’t clearly say 3M,but remember it’s Chinese ! Hi will as long as the underside of the guard is spotless n you warm up the 3M before applying it will stay, sucks for the guys losing their jobs, 😢 I reckon the classic 650 will be the shotgun with a cosmetic job done on it, the Bear is a more original option as it has so many new parts to the original interceptor chassis and motor, Bear I think will definitely suit the loftier amongst us ….Pete 🇫🇷
Hi Willie I used epoxy resin that u mix together and apply to a clean dry surface works a treat no drilling holes on my T120 and it’s still there after 8000 miles 😀👌🏍️😌
I have always used the plastic rivets, tape has never held. Can't beat a Russet Brown Allegro, besides bikes my other passion is my 1979 Russet Brown VDP 1500 (the posh Allegro) take a look : th-cam.com/video/fTgM4hMz3C8/w-d-xo.html
I might buy a RE if they got it together and made a 650 classic single cylinder. The 350 is fine if you live on small back roads but in traffic in the city it would be horribly slow. My slowest bike it 50hp, then about 85hp and then 110 hp on the other 2. How can you (me) downgrade to something with 20hp.
I read an article from India that said RE are going to update that engine to 750cc, and should be available within 2 years,so you'll be able to trade the 650 bear in for a 750 bear 😅. There very clever with their marketing and know most people will trade up to the 750. Just think how many extra sales they would have if they updated the 350 engine to a 400/450🤔
Apologies you probably have answered this before, was the shotgun 650 too small for you ? im 6'4" and its a bike I was going to look at in the new year in addition to the Bear if you haven't cornered the market !! Many thanks
Lol! I actually almost bought a Shotgun Rory ...it fitted me fine if the pillion seat was left on so I could slide back onto it but felt cramped without ...hope that helps
I got a fender extender for my V7 last year. Don't waste your time with the thick pads that come with the extender. 3M tape is tape thin and holds perfectly! It gives a better fit. Still on tightly a year later in Miami where we get downpours. No need to remove fender or compress overnight. Just stick and go!
I've had a Pyramid fenda extenda on my Guzzi V7 for three years and 3000 miles fixed with the sticky tape and have had no issues. Speaking of Guzzis, I bought a new 2023 V100 from Colchester Kawasaki for £2500 off list which I'm told by another Piaggio dealer would lose them money. I wonder if Piaggio make dealers accept stock regardless of how many they think they can sell?
@2wheeledwillie395 yup, the V100's great. Comfy riding position and plenty of grunt. Could do with it being a bit lighter pulling it out of the garage but that disappears when underway, it's very well balanced at all speeds
Hi Willie I bought a speed twin 900 back in june and the first 2 things i did was fit a rad guard and fenda extenda(both purchased from Pyramid Plastics). The extenda came wirh sticky pads and 4 push rivets to attach it to front mudguard, like you mentioned i didn't want to drill my mudguard and opted for the sticky pad attachment method. I removed my front mudguard and followed the instructions which said to use a couple of clamps to hold in place and allow 24 hours to cure, however I used 4 clamps and left it in spare bedroom for 4 days before fitting on bike and it is absolutely rock solid and still in place. Just to let you know the pyramid extenda came with way more sticky pads than the one you have and i know that you used to be able to get colour matched rear huggers for the Z900rs but not sure if they are still available, hope the fitting goes well.
I fitted a fenda extender to my Super Meteor 650. Despite removing my mudguard, cleaning it scrupulously and applying the tape as instructed, it proved to be rubbish! I ended up redoing it, I drilled it and used small stainless steel mush head bolts (I didn’t trust the plastic rivets any more than the tape)! In my mind, the extender will never be removed so drilling was entirely acceptable. The Bear looks good, but RE consistently get the rear suspension wrong! Both my Hunter and my SM650 had terrible shocks. My SM now has YSS shocks which are sooooooo much better.
I’ve seen the interceptor’s for £5,900 not £5k? But it does make you question if you could do a better job yourself, the only thing I don’t like with the bear is the low exhaust, think it would look better with something like on the Triumph Street Scrambler.
2WW - i fitted a Fenda-Extenda successfully to my old Suzuki SV650S,on a recommendation from a mate i used the Sticky Pads as supplied but also used some EvoStik Adhesive Stuff - it was like White Mastic in a Tube but worked fine.
Have to bolt it Wills I thought the same thing when I first sat on the mark 2 like this bike's front end feels more like a bicycle I have to change out the bars eventually after I can find a chunkier one that fits my liking. Many a happy mile.🎉
Use activator for the vhb tape, otherwise it will fall off. I worked for a signage company and had many failures when fitters used the tape only. Also don't apply if less than 10 degrees centigrade.
if you really want to keep the mud off the front header pipes you will need a fish tail shaped extension to the fender extender. Those short front mudguards are just next to useless!
Had one on my Kawasaki 900 And that only used 3m . However, I made sure the mud guard was spotless with alcohol prior to fitting. Was on for over a year and was fine even after pressure washing.
@@2wheeledwillie395 yessss! I'll take her off your hands for £50. Or, just bolt on that fender extender, this will likely make her more attractive to the next buyer ;)
I have a Pyramid fender extender on the front wheel, the tape has shown no sign of ever moving since I stuck it on 9 months ago. BTW - I do enjoy your village videos. Thank you for your entertainment!! 😊
With regards to the Royal Enfield Bear 650, the international press launch was held in Palm Springs, California, on 31st October and journalists did get to ride them. However, RE embargoed all ride videos until 5th November. As for Colchester Kawasaki, not dealing with Piaggio any more means no more Moto Guzzi, which is a pity. Every October, they used to discount Guzzi prices, e.g., a grand off a brand new V7.
The stickers are not enough and it will come off after a short while, I have experience of this, it must be riveted or bolted, done carefully with someone who has the skill it will be fine. You will never remove it anyway.
There are wants and there are needs. Wants are essential. Needs? They tend to be a way to feed our ego. If you already have a new (really new or "new to you!") bike then ride and enjoy it. Trading in bikes every year (more or less) is not sustainable by anyone save the independently wealthy. Add to your enjoyment by adding affordable accessories to your bike as shown here by Willie and others like Sean and Suzie for example. A motorbike is NOT a financial investment but it can be an investment in your life. Just don't make it a money pit. Well said, Willie! SS in Hades (commiefornia), USA!
Just sub'd. I have the same dilemma about attaching a plastic extender to the front mudguard on my T100. Don't want to drill. Based on the comments here, I'm going try the tape method.
Just drill it. If on the bike, Put a piece of wood and steal under your mudguard with steel nearest tyre when you drill so you don’t drill into the tyre, otherwise take the mudguard off. I was nervous when I did my first one.
I watched a video about a guy fitting the mudguard extender only today. He went with just the tape, having cleaned the surfaces properly, and the tape lasted about a day then started to let go. He ended up drilling the guard and fitting the clips provided. Having said that, there's sticky tape and then there's sticky tape; maybe yours will be ok...just hope you don't lose the extender if it ain't. Good luck mate.
Don't drill the mudguard and definitely don't rely on the tape, l've fitted a few and the tape never holds, use clear silicon clamp inplace or use some other method, leave over night permanent fix
IMO the two annoying features about modern bikes are the small front mudguards and the failure to provide a centrestand on chaindrive bikes. I can't wait to try the Bear. Re. Piaggio, they had over 200 UK dealers a few years ago. Now just over 20!
To heck with buying another RE. Buy a used (or new if you have lots of cash) Harley Road King. Then as the name says you will automatically become the King of the road and all the honours and privileges afforded to a King.
@@2wheeledwillie395 I can't afford that. I have been on a tiny bit of a buying spree of decent gemstones. A few burmese rubies and a blue sapphire and some other bits and bobs
Dont drill clean underside of mudguard and use a product called Tiger Seal you might need to use a bit of tape to temporarily hold until cures it comes in black about £10 a tube.
The tape is there to hold it in place while you drill for the bolts - the wind and turbulence will make short work on any high power bike - if you keep it under 50 😂😂😂😂😂the tape may hold and I’m sure you don’t want to wait another 3 months for another one As Trump would say DRILL BABY DRILL Regards from Florida 🦩🦩🦩🦩
I'm concerned about my local Kawasaki dealer which is part of the wheels group - I looked on companies house and wheels group in 22/23 made £315K profit from £16M turnover, in 23/24, they only made £58K from a similar turnover - that's some drop, just hope they can stay afloat
It's not quite six, but Honda put their 470cc engine in four of their recent models (basically all of their bikes that have got 500 in the name). At least it's a proven engine.
Don’t use the tape, the stickers dry up in my experience. Better to put those plastic rivet things they will last forever. Certainly last longer than an Allegro, they were 💩. I was far superior in my knackered Ford Fiesta 😂😂

Haha Allegro Estate may explain a lot about your sense of humour Willie.I remember it well it looked like a hearse with those huge side windows 🤣🤣🤣 I did have quite a few cars back in the day but at 22 I think I'd just bought my Boss' Audi 100 Avant off him. That was a nice car I floated about in for a while. I've never had a fender extender held on with just the tape I've never trusted it and I've always rationalised the idea of bolting it on by thinking that I'm never going to take it off and if I ever sell it then it's a selling point lol
pasred my test years in a allegro,1100 years ago, then 4 years later bought a 1300,with squrer streeling wheel, tell you it went well,
Thanks GG AN Audi 100 avant at 22 is pretty cool.....well alot cooler than a brown Allegro estate!!😂😂
@@2wheeledwillie395 I don't know mate, with that big load space and the big side windows I reckon an Allegro Estate would make the perfect Dogging vehicle 🤣🤣🤣
Great video thanks Willie, If it were me I would drill the fender and put the bolts through, not just stick it. I would also get this done by a dealer to get a professional look.
Thanks Will 👍
Hi will as long as the underside of the guard is spotless n you warm up the 3M before applying it will stay, sucks for the guys losing their jobs, 😢 I reckon the classic 650 will be the shotgun with a cosmetic job done on it, the Bear is a more original option as it has so many new parts to the original interceptor chassis and motor, Bear I think will definitely suit the loftier amongst us ….Pete 🇫🇷
Thanks Pete 👍 yes I'm hoping the Bear is good for the lankier rider 🇫🇷
Hi Willie I used epoxy resin that u mix together and apply to a clean dry surface works a treat no drilling holes on my T120 and it’s still there after 8000 miles 😀👌🏍️😌
Thanks Jim 👍
I have always used the plastic rivets, tape has never held. Can't beat a Russet Brown Allegro, besides bikes my other passion is my 1979 Russet Brown VDP 1500 (the posh Allegro) take a look : th-cam.com/video/fTgM4hMz3C8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks buddy 👍 just watched yr video, looks amazing and brought back memories of mine!
The 350 is great for country lanes definitely 👌
I've had a few. The stickers have always worked fine. I've just put one on my vtr. Still on!
Thanks buddy 👍
I read an article from India that said RE are going to update that engine to 750cc, and should be available within 2 years,so you'll be able to trade the 650 bear in for a 750 bear 😅. There very clever with their marketing and know most people will trade up to the 750. Just think how many extra sales they would have if they updated the 350 engine to a 400/450🤔
That's very interesting 🤔 need to find that video 👍 cheers Bally
Apologies you probably have answered this before, was the shotgun 650 too small for you ? im 6'4" and its a bike I was going to look at in the new year in addition to the Bear if you haven't cornered the market !! Many thanks
Lol! I actually almost bought a Shotgun Rory ...it fitted me fine if the pillion seat was left on so I could slide back onto it but felt cramped without ...hope that helps
Thanks … I’ll keep looking so
Keep up the vlogs …
Hi Willie, at 22 I had a Datsun 120Y coupe, I loved it, but the British winter disolved it!
Haha!! Loved those 120y coupe!!
Brilliant thanks mate 👍
I would drill and bolt it as well, just to be on the safe side.
Thanks Kev 👍
I've had a Pyramid fenda extenda on my Guzzi V7 for three years and 3000 miles fixed with the sticky tape and have had no issues. Speaking of Guzzis, I bought a new 2023 V100 from Colchester Kawasaki for £2500 off list which I'm told by another Piaggio dealer would lose them money. I wonder if Piaggio make dealers accept stock regardless of how many they think they can sell?
Thanks Jim! I'm still yet to fit the fender extender! Love the look of the v100! Hope yr enjoying it?
@2wheeledwillie395 yup, the V100's great. Comfy riding position and plenty of grunt. Could do with it being a bit lighter pulling it out of the garage but that disappears when underway, it's very well balanced at all speeds
Just put some more 3M tape to cover most of the area and clean thoroughly with alcohol. Never had a problem using this method.
Cheers buddy, think that's what I'm going to do 👍
Hi Willie I bought a speed twin 900 back in june and the first 2 things i did was fit a rad guard and fenda extenda(both purchased from Pyramid Plastics).
Speed Twin 1200 with Pyramid Plastics extender and also just used the pads with same rock solid results
Amazing thanks buddy 👍
Great comments 👌 it's weird but I didn't find the rear shocks on my SM an issue even though loads of people have
I’ve seen the interceptor’s for £5,900 not £5k? But it does make you question if you could do a better job yourself, the only thing I don’t like with the bear is the low exhaust, think it would look better with something like on the Triumph Street Scrambler.
£4699 interceptor 650on Autotrader brand new from KD motorcycles was there 5 minutes ago
They are selling them on AT for £5k buddy....bargain!!
@@checker3694 BARGAIN!!!!
I didn't drill I used the sticky tape plus super glue, been on bike two years no signs of coming unstuck.
Thanks Brian 👍
2WW - i fitted a Fenda-Extenda successfully to my old Suzuki SV650S,on a recommendation from a mate i used the Sticky Pads as supplied but also used some EvoStik Adhesive Stuff - it was like White Mastic in a Tube but worked fine.
Brilliant! Thanks Paul! 👍
Have to bolt it Wills I thought the same thing when I first sat on the mark 2 like this bike's front end feels more like a bicycle I have to change out the bars eventually after I can find a chunkier one that fits my liking. Many a happy mile.🎉
Thanks Jay 👍
Just add more 3M tape. They certainly didn’t over do it as std!
Use activator for the vhb tape, otherwise it will fall off.
I worked for a signage company and had many failures when fitters used the tape only.
Also don't apply if less than 10 degrees centigrade.
Thanks Paul 👍
Need to drill, definitely. Masking tape on the paint and use a punch to mark where the drill in going. The tape stops vibrations.
Thanks buddy 👍
if you really want to keep the mud off the front header pipes you will need a fish tail shaped extension to the fender extender. Those short front mudguards are just next to useless!
Cheers Pete 👍
Had one on my Kawasaki 900
And that only used 3m .
However, I made sure the mud guard was spotless with alcohol prior to fitting.
Was on for over a year and was fine even after pressure washing.
Perfect, thanks Lee! 👍
I can remember the Allegro. I'm sure it had a square-ish steering wheel.
I think you might be right!
@@2wheeledwillie395think it was the vandam plas with the square steering wheel, my dad had one our first family car 1980
Your excitement is infectious.
😂😂😂😂
My tip for the fender extender: the Kawasaki has failed you. Sell her! 😂
I'm doing the advert now!! 😂
@@2wheeledwillie395 yessss! I'll take her off your hands for £50. Or, just bolt on that fender extender, this will likely make her more attractive to the next buyer ;)
My brother took me to Colchester Kawasaki last Friday and told me its closing . So sad ...
It is sad 😢
Darcy's Jag is fantastic👍 sound mostly positive regards Colchester kawasaki. Hope you enjoyed the Crossed keys. Cheers Willie 🍻
Yes it's a beautiful car Dave....had a great time at the crossed keys thanks buddy 😀 hope yr healing well bud
The stickers won't be enough. It will fall off guaranteed. You will need to drill two small holes & fix it with either metal or nylon fixings.
Thanks buddy 👍
In a word, no. Use some adhesive as well.
Haha! Thanks Tony 👍
I just used tec7 for my fender extenders
Thanks buddy 👍
I have a Pyramid fender extender on the front wheel, the tape has shown no sign of ever moving since I stuck it on 9 months ago.
BTW - I do enjoy your village videos. Thank you for your entertainment!! 😊
The tape is only to hold it in place while you drill it. Slip a metal plate in so you don't drill your tyre. Don't just use tape or it will fall off
Thanks Dan! 👍
Interesting...so tomorrow there should be videos then!
The stickers are not enough and it will come off after a short while, I have experience of this, it must be riveted or bolted, done carefully with someone who has the skill it will be fine. You will never remove it anyway.
True, thanks Malcolm 👍
Alas the sticky tape only holds for a while so you will end up having to screw it to the original anyway
Thanks Rich!
And we'll said SS!! 👍
Mine come with plastic pins as well. I did both mate. There is a fair bit of wind on it at 100 plus k.
Cheers mate 👍
3m tape is fine, just make sure its clean before. Sticks like glue, mine never fell off, couldn't get it off if I tried 😃
Perfect! Thanks Nigel 👍
Just sub'd. I have the same dilemma about attaching a plastic extender to the front mudguard on my T100. Don't want to drill. Based on the comments here, I'm going try the tape method.
Thanks for the sub Rob! 👍 yes think I'm going to do the same 😃
Fender extender on my T120 with accompanying 3M tape since May 2021 with no problem.
Excellent! Thanks buddy 👍
Just drill it. If on the bike, Put a piece of wood and steal under your mudguard with steel nearest tyre when you drill so you don’t drill into the tyre, otherwise take the mudguard off. I was nervous when I did my first one.
Cheers Trev 👍
I watched a video about a guy fitting the mudguard extender only today. He went with just the tape, having cleaned the surfaces properly, and the tape lasted about a day then started to let go. He ended up drilling the guard and fitting the clips provided. Having said that, there's sticky tape and then there's sticky tape; maybe yours will be ok...just hope you don't lose the extender if it ain't. Good luck mate.
That's great, thanks Jack 😊
All my numberplates get put on with 3m tape. Never lost one.. or JB Weld? No need to drill these days unless you want to, of course 🙂
Perfect! Thanks Mr B!👍
Don't drill the mudguard and definitely don't rely on the tape, l've fitted a few and the tape never holds, use clear silicon clamp inplace or use some other method, leave over night permanent fix
Thanks Paul 👍
IMO the two annoying features about modern bikes are the small front mudguards and the failure to provide a centrestand on chaindrive bikes.
I can't wait to try the Bear.
Re. Piaggio, they had over 200 UK dealers a few years ago. Now just over 20!
Wow that's very interesting about Piaggio!!
@@2wheeledwillie395more info from my RE dealer....who also used to stock Piaggio.
To heck with buying another RE. Buy a used (or new if you have lots of cash) Harley Road King. Then as the name says you will automatically become the King of the road and all the honours and privileges afforded to a King.
Rob if you give me the money I'll 100% buy a Road King!! 😂
@@2wheeledwillie395 I can't afford that. I have been on a tiny bit of a buying spree of decent gemstones. A few burmese rubies and a blue sapphire and some other bits and bobs
@Rob-lj1jl 😂😂😂😂😂 bits and bobs?!!! Love that!😂😂😂😂
@@Rob-lj1jl Odds and sods is even more of a classic English phrase.
Dont drill clean underside of mudguard and use a product called Tiger Seal you might need to use a bit of tape to temporarily hold until cures it comes in black about £10 a tube.
Excellent! Cheers buddy 👍
Kawasaki where I live has closed down too
Such a shame 😟
The tape is there to hold it in place while you drill for the bolts - the wind and turbulence will make short work on any high power bike - if you keep it under 50 😂😂😂😂😂the tape may hold and I’m sure you don’t want to wait another 3 months for another one
As Trump would say
DRILL BABY DRILL

Lol! Thanks JF! 👍
I'm concerned about my local Kawasaki dealer which is part of the wheels group - I looked on companies house and wheels group in 22/23 made £315K profit from £16M turnover, in 23/24, they only made £58K from a similar turnover - that's some drop, just hope they can stay afloat
Yeah that does sound concerning Tim 😟
You're an absolute loon! That's why I love u!
😂😂😂😂😂
Good luck deciding on a method to fix the extender. Comments so far are neatly split.
Haha! They really are Guy! 😂 think I'm going to risk sticking it and see!
It's not quite six, but Honda put their 470cc engine in four of their recent models (basically all of their bikes that have got 500 in the name). At least it's a proven engine.
Thanks Matt 👍 as u say it's a proven engine 👍
You could get a Royal Enfield Interceptor and turn it into a Scrambler like TMF's for 15 grand. 😂
Lol! Yes that was an expensive build!!
Don’t use the tape, the stickers dry up in my experience. Better to put those plastic rivet things they will last forever. Certainly last longer than an Allegro, they were 💩. I was far superior in my knackered Ford Fiesta 😂😂
Thanks Andrew 👍
