Trumpets, towers and tenements

Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars, yes, you climbed on the ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail too high

@@jackjude perhaps you're correct. But imagine if they released the exact same records starting around 1985 or 1986. That's the two stand out years for synth, and alternative music that hadn't been played on radio as much previously. That's the context I was speaking in.
@@ghostscantkill to me they sound like a band influenced by the 80s rather than a 80's band. I would say though the high point for synth was a good few years earlier - the turn of the 80's; With Kraftwerk, Yazoo, Ultravox, Human League, Gary Numan, Soft Cell, OMD's best work.
@@jackjude as I mentioned the context. Think fantasy football. Put aside reality, and the fact you feel they sound like a band influenced by the 80's, and not an actual 80's band. Again. Synth bands didn't get broad, and consistent air play on mega radio stations until some time in 1984 really (in the U.S. anyway). But they really started getting it good in 85', 86'. Yes. Synth bands definitely were getting lots of play, and attention from MTV from the beginning, but that's MTV not radio as I mentioned. I'm understanding what you're writing, but it doesn't appear you see my points.
Best cover of this song. You can really tell how much he loves it.
Haven’t seen anyone do it Justice like these guys!
Tears of joy and sadness seeing the crowd. This used to be how we celebrated. Will it ever return?.
As soon as we stop listening to the "experts" that perpetually get proven wrong.
Did it ever really exist?
@@Wantedbugbear yes. Yes it did.
They nailed and I'm incredibly impressed that the crowd was so familiar with the song. It's definitely a throwback! ❤️
The Killers killed it.
what a front man brandon ,, superb concert and high energy performamce from one of the best bands in the last 20yrs,,, great cover this got everybody bouncing ,, brilliant
My favourite Waterboys song. This cover gave me the shills and a lump in my throat. Great work by The Killers.
This song got such a good reception because everyone in the crowd had been a Waterboys member at some point in the past
When the cover is as good as the classic! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Close you eyes.......................You'd SWEAR it's Mike Scott.
Original is the best but this is a great effort.
This must be about only the third thing TH-cam has put in my recommendations that I actually like , great version and the crowd just loving it .
I love waterboys.. i adore this song... 🎉🎉🎉
Brilliant! He loved every second of that didn’t he
Love this version as much as the original - such a great song - an anthem to those that believe in us more than we believe in ourselves, see more in us than we see in ourselves - I saw the rain dirt valley, you saw brigadoon,,,,I saw a crescent, you saw the whole of the moon, such a beautifully written song 😊
“Sometimes it takes a while to come around, we’re sorry.” - Brandon Flowers, on boys and men. 💕
I even googled it and couldn't find what the quote was. Fair play man
Nailed it !!!!
I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!
You were there at the turnstiles
With the wind at your heels
You stretched for the stars
And you know how it feels
To reach too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon!
I was grounded
While you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truths
You cut through lies
I saw the rain-dirty valley
You saw Brigadoon
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon!
I spoke about wings
You just flew
I wondered, I guessed, and I tried
You just knew
I sighed
But you swooned
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!
With a torch in your pocket
And the wind at your heels
You climbed on the ladder
And you know how it feels
To get too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!
Unicorns and cannonballs,
Palaces and piers,
Trumpets, towers, and tenements,
Wide oceans full of tears,
Flags, rags, ferry boats,
Scimitars and scarves,
Every precious dream and vision
Underneath the stars
Yes, You climbed on the ladder
With the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
Blazing your trail
Too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the whole of the moon!
Thanks

God bless Brandon and his band, they never fail to nod their hats to other great songs and songwriters. A perfect modern pop band.
I am a big waterboys fan , this cover is absolutely brilliant , brings Mike Scott’s classic to a whole new audience,
This was covered to the bones! What a great voice!
Now that’s a proper cover song...well done guys!
Incredible cover
One of the best songs ever written by a master of his trade.
Not a Killer's fan but that was absolutely fantastic.
Probably the best I've ever heard trying to do it justice.
I knew his voice would be a great match for this song. Perfect cover.
I'm proud to say I knew & loved this song long before most of those in the audience were even born. This is a great cover.
Never really been a huge fan of the killers, but experiencing them live, singing this, was one of the best experiences I’ve had! Their full set was incredible! Roll on Trnsmt 2019!
