He walks away from his parents in a crowded place, goes down the staircase, leaves the mall, goes to the other side of the street, all for no apparent reason, then sees his dad and runs on the street like maniac which every 4 year old knows not to do. Classic David Cage writing.
The best part is while he’s slipping and sliding on the ice, other people are walking by him with no issue at all. This is a subtle yet critical hint that the protagonist did not have his orange juice in the morning
My favorite part was how the dad jumped in front of the car, but the kid died and the dad was unharmed. Truly the finest example of dad-type storytelling. Edit: OK yeah he was in a coma apparently, but it still doesn't make sense.
Imagine you lose your kid, and right as you're about to catch up to them and grab them, a random clown is like "you owe me $2" and your response is "ah of course, it's important that I pay this immediately, the kid can wait". Truly father of the year.
Heavy Rain is an absolute embarrassment of a game but by god is it funny... (and it also looked great for the time - credit where credit is due, but otherwise its a complete failure)
This man re-recorded multiple scenes that would usually end with a game over, just to keep continuity so we could see all the tragic humor play out seamlessly. Dunkey - this is the greatest thing I've ever seen and laughed at lol

It's not that hard, if the bad guy is more concerned with throwing more stuff down, than actually running away. At this point he wasn't actually running away but just trashing the place.

This is the type of thing that makes me not like this kind of game. I mean yeah its hilarious but by and large youre expected to just go through and hit the quick time events. But really your actions have *no* consequences. Its just a film that happens to be animated in a videogame engine, and gives you little quick time events that *very slightly* change the animation if you hit them.
Seriously. It's generally difficult to make me feel secondhand embarrassment from a game, but David Cage's cringeworthy writing is so bad it often ends up genuinely funny when you're not just shaking your head at its stupidity. 10/10 would laugh at again (as long as I don't have to financially support that talentless crybaby).

Yes, it's worth playing through the story once. It was good on paper. Different endings, different characters you play as, it was an okay experience. I was like 13 when I finally got around to playing it, and being a survivor of a trauma, it hit me hard. But I was a kid lol. TL;DR : Kinda worth it if you like games that are just movies and it's on sale. Didn't age well.

When I first played Heavy Rain when it came out I was really moved by the performances and storytelling. Now I'm wondering how I ever took it seriously.
It's entertainment, it shouldn't have to be perfect to be effective. Or, you know, it can have good points that are capable of outshining its bad points. I love videos making fun of Heavy Rain but I still remember how intense some of the moments from that game are.
That's because Heavy Rain is great, except for the quick-time events (and the gameplay controls, which were better in Detroit) (and that ONE plot point)

I still don’t understand why the kid got a balloon at the mall and left. He passed the toy store, puppy factory, and GameStop when he was so preoccupied with getting a new balloon. If anything the kid would have went into another store, not across the street or outside when his parents have the money. The meme of the glitch where he yells for the kid throughout the entire end still cracks me up.

For those curious about how the car crash killed Jason despite Ethan clearly taking the brunt of the impact-it was originally written that, when Ethan knocked Jason down to try and save him, he actually crushed and killed him. Ethan wasn’t indirectly responsible due to being in charge of the kid at the time, he was _literally_ the one to kill the boy (accidentally, but still). This plot point was ultimately scrapped, but the cinematography of the scene remained.

He ended up breaking his nose twice while trying to protect him from ocean waves. Even though she was holding him close, the wave pushed with enough force to break his nose. It's terrifyingly easy to break a child. I can absolutely believe accidentally crushing.

And it’s one of the best games I’ve played 😂 This, Beyond Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human are some of the best experiences I’ve had in gaming. Choices actually mattered and I really wish there were other games like this.

Jason's death scene always seemed like a masterpiece in video game writing. Then, after watching this video, I realized how stupid and avoidable it actually was
Also, the car is clearly only hitting Ethan but somehow Ethan went to 6 months of coma while Jason just simply died. And Ethan was way more care to pay 2 dollars to the clown than looking at her own son!
I still don’t understand why the kid got a balloon at the mall and left. He passed the toy store, puppy factory, and GameStop when he was so preoccupied with getting a new balloon. If anything the kid would have went into another store, not across the street or outside when his parents have the money. The meme of the glitch where he yells for the kid throughout the entire end still cracks me up.

For those curious about how the car crash killed Jason despite Ethan clearly taking the brunt of the impact-it was originally written that, when Ethan knocked Jason down to try and save him, he actually crushed and killed him. Ethan wasn’t indirectly responsible due to being in charge of the kid at the time, he was _literally_ the one to kill the boy (accidentally, but still).
This plot point was ultimately scrapped, but the cinematography of the scene remained.
I can see why that was scrapped. That's a messed up situation that people don't like to think about.

He ended up breaking his nose twice while trying to protect him from ocean waves. Even though she was holding him close, the wave pushed with enough force to break his nose. It's terrifyingly easy to break a child. I can absolutely believe accidentally crushing.
