i think it makes sense for Dr. Reca to be Fire since physical film reels used to be made out of nitrocellulose, or celluloid. Celluloid, while important for making film photography possible, is infamously EXTREMELY flammable, even being a viable replacement for gunpowder. It also doesn't help that their extremely toxic fires can't be put out easily due to containing oxygen. Most films prior to 1951 are lost to history due to any number of fire-based reasons, be it the film igniting from the heat of the camera, or the passage of time causing nitrate film to decay into highly reactive gas or goop. Not only are the memories contained in the film destroyed in the fires they cause, but they destroy other memories as well. That could be his own internal moral justification
I think it would be too early for another fire Nihility character and he might be physical cause Star rail loves to troll us with characters with fire motifs and then making them physical (Luka and Yun) 😂
@@Slayloy69420 There are a lot of characters on lc's that don't fit the path big example being Hunt March design being on harmony lc. But at the same time there are a lot of matching lc so who knows.
Small correction (or maybe clarification in case you omitted it on purpose because it has nothing to do with Reca); The Slumbernana virus and Rappa's experimentation weren't made by Dr. Primitive himself, they were made by two separate followers of Dr. Primitive (by Profnana and Kusha respectively). Dreamweaving/ manipulation of the dreamscape has been a skill that memokeepers are repeatedly shown to be highly proficient with, and March's special magic ice that's been an considered unusual ever since the Express found her uses the same foundational skills, she almost certainly used to be part of the Garden.
I’m so excited for Mr Reca’s kit. Edit the turn order, cut a certain number of actions from the list, or record and re-insert previous action sequences.. There is so much potential for a ‘movie editor’ character in a turn based game!
Mr. Reca' view on unnecessary memory also showed in his movie gifted to the Trailbazer at the end of the Charmony quest. This idea of his aligns much with The Cremator's, which make a lot of scene now after I watched your video 👍
@@Rainthority Personally, I don't think Reca is a Cremator because Cremators specifically go out of their way to erase memories that they deem unnecessary, which is a bit of an escalation from simply not recording "boring" memories. If Reca was a Cremator, I think he would have been a bit more of an art snob and full of himself, since he'd be declaring himself the arbiter of which memories are worth preserving and which are not. But he's generally quite congenial, even allowing an avid fan of his to play a part in one of his films upon seeing her enthusiasm. I think Reca is going to be the midpoint of a spectrum between Black Swan and a future Cremator.
Now that we know theyre introducing the Remembrabce path with Aglaea, I think there's a good chance thats what Reca will end up being when he's playable.
I dont know if this is true or not, but I remember in the Sparkle/Blackswan Character side quest, Sparkle accused Black Swan of spying on her and Black Swan said that Sparkle mistook her for a different memokeeper. Could it have been Mr. Reca?
Hoping for a Mr. Reca playable - and guessing that he's going to be a Fire Preservation or Fire Harmony unit, or maaaybe Ice Nihility if there's just goshdarn too many good Fire units from 2.x. My reading on what Black Swan said about Mr. Reca is not that she finds it hard to coexist with him, but that Mr. Reca pushes a lot of his own morality of right and wrong onto memories, rather than just let all memories coexist even if they aren't all neatly tied up. Great vid! Mr. Reca and Boothill carried me through the brainrot memes. But barely; I found the monkeys *exhausting*. Wish we saw more from Robin's perspective considering she's immune to the brainrot, and be part of her journey as she's processing all the changes in the Family. But no, no Robin agency this time around.
Oh how I wish we got to see more of Robin's pov, too. Perhaps they're saving it for when Sunday appears next patch, so all we got was barely a teaser and not too much of how she was handling things after all the changes.

It took me half the trailblaze continuance to clock that Mr Reca's triangular pupils are supposed to be play buttons. Mr Reca having a very different disposition towards memories from Black Swan was already hinted at with the Soulglad film mission where it's overtly inaccurate to what really happened, but it's made pretty starkly apparent in the first scene he's on screen. When the Family member complains about Mr Reca not following protocol regarding the tuning ceremony and doesn't back down from a short verbal disagreement his response is to edit their memories so that what they recall the rules to be are what he personally would rather they are. The Express crew even spot that he must have done ~something~ based on how her behaviour abruptly changes and liken it to clockwork as it's their most familiar frame of reference. This contrasts greatly with Black Swan who can also do this but has gone on record saying she doesn't like altering people's memories, and who seems to only use it as a last resort like in the memory bubble companion quest where Sparkle, Sampo, and entire crowd were closing in around her with implied intent to harm (and even there she's explicit about this only being temporary until she's a safe distance away). Pretty much the first thing he does when confronted is the same type of memory manipulation that's considered a last resort by Black Swan, and the Family member wasn't even using threats of violence she was just pushing back on his choice to disregard university enrolment procedure. Dude basically saw a mildly annoying inconvenience and went straight to the type of memokeeper scoundrel-ery that everyone worries memokeepers will use.
the thing that differentiates reca from other cremators is that he erases parts of memories and pieces parts together so he may just have a double life being a cremator but also part of garden of recollection i think that would be interesting
Especially when considering a film real can usually be divided into original raw Recording Data which is then edited into a Seperate film that unifies multiple takes and adds extra effects (I'm wondering if his fire symbology is actually being used for its more creation based meanings like if his fire is burning the image of one layer of film into the 2nd edited film rather then just destroying what he doesn't like (I am already beginning to picture possible kits he could have playing around with concepts like the double exposure effect especially if his fire is taking more of those creative and creation Symbolism rather then just destruction

I had assumed there was animosity between memokeeper factions, but if Reca and swan at least get along enough to work together if the situation requires, it blurs lines between their sub factions, it’s intresting.
Well I'm convinced XD it certainly makes sense and gives him back that edge he had in the trailers before he was revealed to be a 'good guy'. By which I mean I enjoy when characters are complicated like that
I'm still trying to piece together the logic of the first playable memo-keeper being a Nihility follower(Black Swan) so when Reca showed up and he was called a memo-keeper I automatically assumed he must be a different type from her because his methods were totally different, his motives seem completely different and there were hints and announcements of the remembrance path coming out. So not only do I think that Reca will be Remembrance, but I also think that there is still SO much more that we don't know for sure about Black Swan's background and origins too.

Thank you so much for that video, I thought of the same thing! I also think it's imprtant to note that the introduction of Crematprs via Reca would make sense. We got introduced to memokeepers with MoC, then Black Swan expanded the concept with a view of the "Ideal" memorykeeper (skilled in memory manipulation, sherished avery memory of the world even the lost insignificant, etc...). Now that we got used to those concept Mr. Reca can be intreoduced and be understood easily as similar to Black Swan without him doing expostion, which leaves enough mystery for a reveal of his true alignment as a Cremator. I would also like to add that there's a dichotomy in Black Swan's and Reca colection of memory. As she explains it i 2.2 some of Black Swan's card are actually empty lightcone that collect all the memories one person is creating once given the card. Black Swan confirms that she has some agency over the memory, like to make us relive our escaped in Penaconny, but we know she is more against the manipulation of memories in general. Black Swan take raw memories and take it as granted. Mr. Reca however, as a "film director" is leaving toward the idea of "staging" a memory first, already making it much more artificial, them his Memory-Peeking Film would lean towards the idea that even in memory collection there's a selection being done, all of that being followed by editing to create the film Reca had in mind. His memory collection extremely artificial and none representative.
Another interesting thing to point out: In the dialogue with Mr. Reca he says something along the lines of "you know what I am", if you pick the option of "Memokeeper" he just smiles in comparison to the other options where he gives you an answer. Definitely gave me the feeling that there was more to it. Also *leaks spoiler* be warned . . . . . . Ready? We are getting a new path and that is "Remembrance" which focuses on the summon mechanic. Who would fit in there? Reca with his little assistant.
Drip marketing and special program now gave confirmation that Remembrance will play a crucial role in Amphoreus. Most likely we'll meet Mr. Reca again there!

Aside from all the lore and possible theories, imagine living in a massive universe with almost fantastical factions that can just go from planet to planet, galaxy to galaxy deciding what was valuable or not. Your memories, if you should be human or a monkey/intellitron or simple machine, whether you encounter a galaxy ranger or an emanator or a masked fool... As cool as HSR is, every time i think about a simple life as a regular being with no faction i honestly feel really bad lol. I mean we've got it bad in reality but theyve got a whole universe of lunatics following literal gods that can even be interacted with.

It would make sense why he was goin after primitive to begin with, via burnin the memories on how to make the anti evolution experiments. The issue i can see though is that by destroyin this information will also destroy the ways to reverse the effects of these experiments, leavin thise effect to be doomed in their turned form
what if everything in the game is predetermined and Reca is editing it to his liking since he already seen it all and changing barely affects the predetermined story since it all ends the same? (just a theory)
wait then memokeepers are actually "contributing to the script" since on restoration the universe will look exactly the same, but nothing will be the same, it's just going to be people living the same happiness or misery without knowing it. whoever discards non-worthy memories (but accurately, not based on their preference) leaves gaps for a different tomorrow or past tomorrow or something. otherwise the universe will be restored, the memories will be the same, and it'll just end again the same way no?

And did she use this ability on us? Because she follows the TB not just to gather. But she also says about 'creating' new memories toghether. And how many times she was 'helping' us in order our memories to become more interesting in dramatic way?... Remembering her old cinematic trailer, as well. And... her design is just so 'classic evil' one...😁
I actually enjoy your voice. Plus, the more you listen to a foreign accent - it will help you acquire an ear for it and your brain will recognize it better. Just my opinion (Had a hard time picking up thick Scottish accents) Thank you very much for adding accessibility through subtitles however! For the people who have issues with hearing, it is very good to have! AI voices are a pain to listen to and just aren't enjoyable. Anyone suggesting that is just rude. Thank you for covering this version/topic with your spin. Getting through 2.6 was... a bit hard to focus on and I'm sure I missed a lot of possible beats.
Good vid, one thing to add Black swan altered mmries after Sparkle played with her so not “unlike other 2” They are both mmry hedonists with their preferences. Black swan spoke of warm stories, Mr Reca is clearly all in for absolute cinema with focus on action and drama.

If i played this in en i would've exited the game 5 mins into it lol (i use cn, its just endless silly puns the whole time so i dont mind) Plus the whole monkey vs clockey trend is kinda silly too so i enjoyed it tbh
i kinda want him to remain non-playable simply because i feel playable characters are far more restrained when it comes to telling character-driven stories, mr.reca is such an interesting character, which is why i think he's far more interesting as an npc

Cremators are part of the Garden of Recollection. They're just a bit more extreme than your normal memokeepers.

I also think it's imprtant to note that the introduction of Crematprs via Reca would make sense. We got introduced to memokeepers with MoC, then Black Swan expanded the concept with a view of the "Ideal" memorykeeper (skilled in memory manipulation, sherished avery memory of the world even the lost insignificant, etc...). Now that we got used to those concept Mr. Reca can be intreoduced and be understood easily as similar to Black Swan without him doing expostion, which leaves enough mystery for a reveal of his true alignment as a Cremator.
I would also like to add that there's a dichotomy in Black Swan's and Reca colection of memory. As she explains it i 2.2 some of Black Swan's card are actually empty lightcone that collect all the memories one person is creating once given the card. Black Swan confirms that she has some agency over the memory, like to make us relive our escaped in Penaconny, but we know she is more against the manipulation of memories in general. Black Swan take raw memories and take it as granted. Mr. Reca however, as a "film director" is leaving toward the idea of "staging" a memory first, already making it much more artificial, them his Memory-Peeking Film would lean towards the idea that even in memory collection there's a selection being done, all of that being followed by editing to create the film Reca had in mind. His memory collection extremely artificial and none representative.
Another interesting thing to point out: In the dialogue with Mr. Reca he says something along the lines of "you know what I am", if you pick the option of "Memokeeper" he just smiles in comparison to the other options where he gives you an answer. Definitely gave me the feeling that there was more to it.

It would make sense why he was goin after primitive to begin with, via burnin the memories on how to make the anti evolution experiments. The issue i can see though is that by destroyin this information will also destroy the ways to reverse the effects of these experiments, leavin thise effect to be doomed in their turned form

wait then memokeepers are actually "contributing to the script" since on restoration the universe will look exactly the same, but nothing will be the same, it's just going to be people living the same happiness or misery without knowing it. whoever discards non-worthy memories (but accurately, not based on their preference) leaves gaps for a different tomorrow or past tomorrow or something. otherwise the universe will be restored, the memories will be the same, and it'll just end again the same way no?

I would say that not averything is crear yet even with Black Swan, I suppose. Because it is too many information around her about not just keeping the memories. But also about changing them. And did she use this ability on us? Because she follows the TB not just to gather. But she also says about 'creating' new memories toghether. And how many times she was 'helping' us in order our memories to become more interesting in dramatic way?... Remembering her old cinematic trailer, as well. And... her design is just so 'classic evil' one...😁

They are both mmry hedonists with their preferences. Black swan spoke of warm stories, Mr Reca is clearly all in for absolute cinema with focus on action and drama.
