Warning: long rant I recently came back to pixel gun 3d for the PC release. I briefly enjoyed it until yesterday when the spark died out again as I realized how I'm basically spending hours grinding for arbitrary things that aren't affecting my loadout or gameplay at all. Like "oh cool I got a super chest in the lottery, now I have a shitty mythical weapon that can't compete" or "oh cool my clan won the war again, time to get a tiny amount of parts for the crystal division weapons" or "oh cool I completed 30 calendar challenges on the battle pass" etc etc. I've known pixel gun 3D for over 10 years now. For the first 4-5 years of playing I never felt this monotonous sense of grinding. Who knows, maybe it's because I was a kid and anything could keep me entertained. The early days were great, before gems the game was amazing. When gems came into play, things incrementally started becoming more p2w, but not enough that the game was unplayable. I still had a blast and would continue to for years to come. Back then the meta for grinding was to hop on co-op survival since most people were absolute bots or play deadly games when you still could keep full armor and stuff during matches. Automatic peacemaker was the GOAT primary, prototype UP2 was an iconic sniper, and who could forget the ever hanging meta of OP heavy weapons. Anti gravity blaster, laser mini gun, dragon breath, ghost lantern, toy blaster, and so much more. Eventually they added the "special" category which split apart some guns that used to all be "snipers". They added the earliest addition of loot boxes where you could get weapons like the golden friend, candy baton, spark shark, though it was exceedingly rare and fun when it happened. The most important thing in this era though was the actual gameplay: -There was a large variety of maps with fun music and gimmicks -Most people were casuals which made combat enjoyable, 3 cat spam was in very early days which made it pretty rare and the most annoying players were just OP weapon spammers, which honestly is still better than modern day gameplay -the few different categories were all playable and fun, rather than today's clusters of boring categories mixed with the few originals. Eventually I just grew out of the game, not necessarily because it was bad, just other things (mainly Roblox parkour games) caught my eye and took over interest. Though in ~2020-2021 I did slowly make my first return to the game. Seeing the state of the game was shocking to say the least. Battle royale, new clan system, tournaments and trophy systems, new lotteries and similar gambling style things to get "parts" for weapons, etc. It was overwhelming to say the least. Now the max level was 65, so I spent a while grinding to max level and noticed the new upgrade system and module system which was pretty annoying and definitely seemed p2w. Despite all this, I stayed with the game because it was still fun to play. Learning to 3 cat spam was a fun process, I'll admit it's quite an interesting dynamic. There were new maps for me to explore, though I was a bit sad to see them traded out with the old nostalgic ones. I grinded for well over a year to get all the clan weapons and gadgets up to golden division (the max at the time) and became a part of a top 100 clan with Drot (the TH-camr) and was an officer in his clan for a while. Honestly I was pretty damn good at the game and could compete against waterfall players (the best clan at the time). I gathered quite a large amount of weapons and resources, but eventually felt trapped in repetition. Every season a new set would come out with OP weapons that would get nerfed the next update and it felt hopeless to try and keep up with the meta at the top. I took a "vacation" and never came back. That was it, pixel gun was ruined for me. Casual gameplay couldn't exist, and competitive play was becoming too repetitive. Then a few months ago I see "Announcing pixel gun 3D for steam, coming Q1 2024" on my TH-cam feed and memories flooded me. I've been lurking in the background until it finally released, hoping things would've changed. Nope. All my previously competitive weapons are decent at best, gameplay is still repetitive as hell, and clan grinding isn't any better. To make matters worse the map selection is god awful. There's like 10 maps total I feel like, and they're all either OG maps that get boring after a while or newer maps that have no soul. The parallels to gambling are stronger than ever, blocks crash is the only consistent way to get keys because you'll get 52 kills solo in team fight and lose by 30 kills because your team is feeding the enemies, deathmatch is a chaotic mess of different effects, gadgets, and people flying everywhere spamming different guns. I miss the old days, it genuinely hurts to see the state of this game. It's like watching your best friend slowly turn into an arrogant douchebag. :(

Dude, I remember when you got coins corresponding to the wave you were on, then when they limited it to just 10. Those where better days. Nowadays it's a slow, tedious grind.
I started playing PG3D in 2016 and I remember grinding to level 31 (max level) and then they increase the level cap to 40 I grinded there, then 50, also grinded and I also remember the prototype 3 cat spam. Good times
I still remember sometimes I'd grind until like wave 50 with the gravity gun, cause you could knock back the monsters to avoid taking damage.(iirc I even got to wave 120 once)
Jesus, when was this? lol. I remember when I started the game I think either late 2014 or early 2015, I had to grind my butt off in arena to get coins to buy weapons
They used to charge that much for one weapon, the Storm Hammer, which at the time of release was an instant one-shot AOE weapon everyone at the top levels had. That's when it truly became P2W. You either had to shell out a disproportionate amount of money for a single weapon or download a modded APK.
@@roeital5504 that wasn't the case when it just came out. Maybe now it's easily obtainable because of the almost decade of power creep to happen since but back then it was pay $30 bucks, download a modded APK or be out of luck, not have the weapon and get pooped on by everybody who does

3:41 I remember the time when loot boxes were actually pretty cool. Back in the old days of Pixel Gun 3D instead of collecting parts of a weapon you would legitimately get the whole weapon my brother had gotten very lucky and got one of his dream weapons which was a shark themed weapon and we were both flabbergasted when he first used it but now they done loot boxes very dirty by making it so the player can collect parts and not the whole weapon which makes the modern game completely unfair to f2p players against p2w players
BIG FACTS, it went downhall in 8.0.0 when they nerfed the amount of coins you would get for winning a match and of course got worse in 9.0.0 when they added gems
i might be misremembering, but i still remember when you could import/export skins to be in minecraft or something from the skins you made in pixel gun. i also remember when the few friends i had always talked about the prototype being the godtier weapon, so thats what i strived to get. it was great at that time so long ago, and im grateful for it
Note: Long response ahead, do not proceed if short attention span. PG3D used to be the only game I would play as a child. I still remember when I hit level 38 (the maximum at the time) or that one time where I managed to snag an antihero rifle during the gun trial where you could buy leg weapons for cheap, or when I saved gems for a year straight to buy myself a laser minigun (the best heavy weapon at a time where leg weapons could only be bought with gems). I used to be proud of how I owned 4 mythics as a f2p player and still managed to dominate my friends who spend money on the game. I used to be proud of how I could always place in top10 of the highest trophy bracket. Yet the trophy bracket system began expanding. From adamantine at 3.6k to champion at 4.8k to eventually legend at 6.5k (i dont remember the exact values for champ/legend, it's been too long), the upper bound for trophy brackets kept going up. Yet still I could best the top spenders with skill and experience that all the newer p2w players didnt have. But eventually, I began to start noticing the p2w incentives the devs were starting to sneak into the game, starting with the anti-champion rifle (reskin of antihero but mythic) and with the introduction of lootboxes. I kept playing for a bit, but each update kept whittling away a portion of my incentive to play, until, I quit entrely. 2 years later, I booted up the game out of curiosity. And what a shock it was. Useless junk cluttering the homescreen, ads popping out of nowhere all the time, battle passes and modules and whatnot. Even the armour that had been accompanying me for years was now merely rare quality, despite my having sunk tens of thousands of coins into it. However, the final straw was when I looked down the map list. The devs had removed a large portion of maps, including parkour city 3019 (idk exact name) which was my favourite at the time. I have never looked back since then. I haven't thought about this game once in the past two years, until this video appeared in my recommended just now. There are so many happy memories that I associated with this game, and it disgusts me to see it in the state it is in right now. It dissapoints me that whenever I think about all those memories it makes it all the more clearer that the game devs clearly don't give a shit. PG3D's devs have done an injustice to it's community; they have commited a sin that has ruined the childhood memories of many. They took a perfectly good game and ruined it for the sake of profit whilst completely shitting on long-time vets like me. PG3D was so much more than just a game to me. And it exactly for this reason which is why I will never forgive Cubic Games for what they did. Thank you for reminding me of these bygone days. I can't believe I have completely forgotten about such an integral part of my childhood up until now.
I returned 3 years ago and quit a year later. Right now, I'm more interested if they will ever finish the story mode because this is the most important part that players have been waiting for instead of this grinding-for-more-power meta.

I feel so damn vindicated I remember a couple years ago when I was on their discord and said that “the game is pay to win and the weapons are too overpowered, the weapons should be more balanced” and most people responded to it by saying “that’s a terrible idea because half the community will hate the balance changes and leave”
As a free to play player of pg3d since the game came out. I can agree on 90% of the opinions you stated about this game. Like other games copying and dying. But as for it being unplayable. That completely up to the person playing it. I play this game because I know every corner and lore and history of this game. It truly makes me happy more than any other game in this life. I see pay to win and hackers (You forgot to mention hackers) I see them as a challenge. You can still kick hacker and p2w butt in matches and still grind the game to get everything you need to feel the power of this game. Great video though. yeah unless it’s the cheaters using in-game cheats like silent aim, aimlock, esp, x-ray always available, being able to crash players, etc. and ofc godmode literally making you invincible but then you simply leave the lobby and join a new
@@sno.- Thats a sad fact, but the ending is a good ultimatum. That is very true. Reports on toxic players and hackers are always going to be made. Let’s just hope most match making and anti cheat will be better soon.
@@TheCryingSnowman i mean i already gave them a good idea for a matchmaking system that basically asigns a value for different categories of weapons (Not the categories we have ingame but based on fairness-factor like a category for pulling weapons for example). The sum of the asigned values of every weapon equipped in a players loadout will then be compared to players having similar sums and thus will result in a fair matchmaking because you can actively choose if you would want to face an opponent with pulling weapons or not. Simply change the assigned value of the typically abused pulling weps (gift stealer, pulling gun, vgd) to a super high amount, thus having only players with pulling weps face other players with pulling weps. With this the devs would just need to create more categories for the rest of cancer weapons (e.g. op shotguns) and you would have the unfair type of matchmaking fixed. And If they really want to go crazy they could do the same for module levels too to make it even fairer and prevent good players from abusing this new system by only equipping noob weapons thus having a lower sum of values leading to a face-off against worse players with worse weapons. And personally i dont have a problem with toxic players because i turned chat off
And if you want to have a phone that would run the game completely fine, you'd need at least 12 GB of ram, and phones with such power cost over 250 dollars, so... Almost no one can play it smoothly
I was, and still am, 100% free to play. It has been a goddamn struggle. From spending sleepless nights FIGHTING for the #1 spot on the leaderboard just to get 100 parts out 250 for a weapon that was weaker than my current one, to spending hours creating skins and gradients and color palettes for them. No matter where i went in PG3D i had to absolutely fight for my goddamn life if i wanted to win. And you better believe i did. ALWAYS team deathmatch. Sometimes that teammate who always comes in to save your bacon is worth not getting first place, just so you can survive a bit longer. I beat the entire campaign with 3 stars. The last world is NO JOKE. Any boss that can teleport or can shoot projectiles is incredibly difficult. If Slender forest or In the Code's bosses shot projectiles, i'd have been toast. Silent school i only beat due to a bug, hilariously. Once i had annihilated team deathmatch, i retreated into arena, where i now play for score, not glory. These zombies are my only companions, no matter how many times i gun them down with my peacemaker, which i refuse to ever get rid of. Glory to the Fallen Syndicate, whose members are now only me. Glory to the gatling gun i wield, whose steel barrels carried me to victory countless times. Glory to the newbie, myself. The last man standing up until PG's servers finally close their doors someday.
This goes unbelievably hard, especially that mention of the fuckin peacemaker man. I remember being like 10 years old and grinding to get that gun cuz I thought it was the coolest thing ever when I saw other people using it in TDM. Props for the dedication, may you find a restful peace once the servers finally die.
I agree with the peak being mid 2018 in terms of variety, player base etc. The most fun era definitely was 2013-2015 tho. 2016 was also pretty great but there was a noticeable slight downfall for sure.
For sure, 2013-2015 was the most balanced era in gameplay and wasn't pay to win, 2016-2018 was when things got p2w but that was also when the community was at its peak and you could get everything without paying by account sharing, then 2019 had a huge banwave and cod mobile was released so the game had a slow and painful downfall after that
1- I really agree with the optimization part, I'm a f2p player and the lag is terrible, I play at like 9 or 15 fps, suffering with p2w weapons (literally on Black Friday they added an OP weapon that costs like 2k more or less diamond) 2 - My keyboard took 2 minutes to open in a game to talk in chat xd 3 - There is no way to compare Pixel Gun with Free Fire It's like to compare a tesla to a 19th century ford T *To this day there is no "low graphics" system
And it also presents many connection problems (I have good WiFi), I know that part of it is that my cell phone is pretty bad, but I've heard from several other players about this game optimization problem.
Yea the cash gun, you literally needed to spend 10.000k gems to get, without getting the other offers other than the skin and armor, 10k gems, is literally 100 dollars or more, it's insane
It just feels like yesterday when i was in 4th grade in 2014 playing Pixel Gun 3D with my friends. Now it's 2024, I'm a softmore in college, and knowing how one of my childhood favorites is now ruined. Edit: dont care about spelling 😭
For me the game is not necessarily a pay2win but an add2win at the moment. The game turned into a movie. I see a lot of my free2play friends from my clan who watch a lot of in-game ads, for example, just with the daily ads you get 420 gems per week just by watching every day. In addition, the devs have added an offer of 150 gems per week if we look at 30 ads if we add the fact that we can have 1 weapon without a player for 1 month Just by watching 560 ads a month. It's sad for the players who really play. I've been playing for 3 years on my new account, I got my first mityque at level 47 (Sneaky pistol) and a member of my clan almost never plays. Just by watching commercials, he already has 4 mythic at LEVEL 5. That's ridiculous. It's sad that the game has become a rotten cinema for me. Great video my Great video my friend
First off: Fantastic Video. I recently returned to PG3D. And of course it’s pay to have a fair chance in a lobby. But messing around with some of the new perks on weapons has completely caught me. Overshield on reload, invis on reload, rockets with DoTs. Melees that have Dash. I’m having just as much fun now compared to 2016-2018 with Prototype wall banging. My biggest issue is that (if not max lvl) you have to keep spending money to level up all of your gear just to keep having fun. Every 2 levels. I DONT WANT TO BE MAX LEVEL. I enjoy the 30s-40s lobbies. Not as sweaty. There is a sweet spot that must be preserved as long as possible while playing. *Ive found myself dropping 20-30kills per game and leaving right as there is 5 secs left. Just to not level up and make my guns/armor useless.
I'm level 50, and man... It's sad, just OP weapons, melee that gives dash, particle explosions in 130% of the map,Extreme 3Cat spam, boring weapons spam 1-shot weapons, lag with fps drops, guys flying across the map + my horrible aim and Weapons without upgrades at almost 12 levels
I remember that I bought the invincible lion (a basuca) for about 600 diamonds or so and in each match I got 20-30 kills, after several levels, I literally made very few kills and won Nothing, besides not wanting to spend diamonds to improve the weapon, but I had no option, But as I was already at a high level, people were already professionals, 3cat spam and I couldn't hit a shot , I regret using the XP booster
@@somedude4523 Literally the game runs worse than some normal FPS games on my laptop, as well as it completely draining my iPhone 12’s battery in less than an hour. The only game that can do that to my phone is Roblox cause the optimization is garbage, but PG3D is worse than even that 😂
I remember back in 2014, all I had was my crappy nokia windows phone and it didn't have a lot of good games for it, except pixel gun. During the entire year I played through the entire campaign and online as well, I had so much fun. It breaks my heart to see that Cubic Games just grabbed a gun and shot the game in the back of the head in an alley by making it so dog awful
Anyone remember when anything besides 3CS was a viable option? Like I remember modern 3CS becoming the only way to play like the flip of a switch one day and now it is even more annoying than spell bait during its peak in clash royale.
There were viable alternatives to 3CS back in the 3CS peak, it's just that most players didn't understand the meta and best counters to 3CS, I'm saying this as one of the first ever 3CS players myself
As a person who played since before gems were added until like late 2016/early 2017, its hurts me that cubic games absolutely massacred the masterpiece of a game that was one of the highlights of my childhood. RIP Pixed Gun 3d 2013-2019, after 2019 it couldn't really be considered "pixel gun" anymore.
That last part really hit for me. I played PG3D so much back when I was around 7 or 8 years old, in elementary school. I really want to get back into it now that it’s on PC, but it’s clear that it’s just not the same game anymore :(
I was playing around 2016 and I got lucky seeing the red flags of the game. As soon as an update dropped you had to go for the latest weapons to compete, there was no upgrade system. The reward in coins and gems was so abysmal around that time, being like 12 coins a match at the top of the leaderboard and gems that was a rare occurrence.
I started playing in 2018 and i remember when i was hoping in with my friends after school . We had such a great vibe and then in late 2019 we quit because the game was all about money and the players were greedy . I recently hoped in back with one of my friend to see if it changed and nah. RIP PG3D good ol PG3D
and when theres people with guns you need to be like level 50 to use yet youre level 20 and they are like destroying you with guns that arent even supposed to one shot
Still remember back in the day the glitch city in Slender Forest map, people came together on that crashed Helicopter, sometimes just to hang out. Damn, I miss the old Pixel Gun
I used to play this game back when it was a paid game many years ago and enjoyed it. Though my enjoyment of the game ended when they added armor to the game and I hated it. That’s when I knew they were heading down a dark path. What surprised me though is how long they took to absolutely fill it to the brim with microtransactions along with every monetization tactic known to man.
I came to Australia in 2013, had little friends as I couldn’t speak English. Just like you said, pixel gun was also my only friend. I grinded it, and I got damn good too. One day in 2016 I was playing duels and I somehow versed the leader of the best clan in the game at the time (star lord) and he invited me in. I was given a community and a home and something my young self could work for. And at the time the game had a beautiful clan weapon system, where if you managed to be in a good enough clan you had access to the best weapons in the game, such as the black mamba. It made my life heaven. Eventually, I witnessed the downfall of this game first hand. With the introduction of exoskeletons, which were immensely broken and the only way to manage to get them without HUNDREDS of hours of grinding was micro transactions. This was the beginning of the end. After this they continued this system they used for exoskeletons for literally every new op item, and I was forced to quit, as my skill level which was quite literally world class still couldn’t manage to beat someone using a new season item they paid for. Playing this game between 2014-2017 was possibly one of the most joyful parts of my life. Heartbreaking to see what it’s become. It truly shows a message to not let greed consume you
I was there. I played it daily on my phone. I was actually a really good sniper and threat to the entire enemy team. I realised there were many new things added and i couldn't keep up with it. I got bad really quickly
I used to play from 2017 to around 2020. I simply got bored of the constant grind and already had a hiatus a few months before i quit and when i returned in like december of 2022 to check out the game all i was met with was ads and even more pay to win stuff. I had the time of my life during that 3 years but eventually got burned out and now this husk of its past self isn't something too welcoming to me now.
The base building was so peak. I remember me and my cousins would each have our own bases that were all so unique. It was cool to see high ranked player’s bases and to progress from the barren desert to a water fall. Then it just disappeared one day and there were 0 refunds
The games downfall in terms of balance started when that happened but the peak of the community was actually within the next 2 years after gems got added until the Devs started banning people for getting all the guns for free since the game was p2w and that was the real start of its death
2014-2019 when I was growing up I made so many friends in Pixel gun 3D I quit playing the game right around my freshman year of high school it just didn’t really felt the same anymore as I remember. I haven’t played it in six years. two days ago, I decided to re-download it. I still got all my guns and all my skins. every single one of my friends move on with their life. I feel pretty depressing. realizing that
The saddest part is the developers just don't care. You'll see people give criticism in their Discord, their Twitter, their IG, you name it. Whoever runs their socials is just gonna shoot you down and call you "rude" or call out the smallest flaw in your logic. How professional. Instead of taking what people say, the people who SUPPORT you say, let's get defensive and ignore them. I have no intent to support developers who are greedy to the point where they see their players as ATM's that aren't worth taking seriously.
The reasons why I quit Pixel Gun 3D almost 2 to 3 years ago: 1.Poor Optimization: Recently downloaded it on my mid-range phone (Realme 5 Pro) and it's incredibly laggy. Surprisingly, my phone can handle COD Mobile and PUBG at high settings with better performance. During 2019-2020, it worked fine, but now it's laggy, especially in large Battle Royale matches (used a Samsung A10 during that time). Borrowed a friend's Huawei Y9 and it could run BR easily. Even on a low-end phone from 2016 (Samsung J3 2016), it managed around 30 FPS and was enjoyable. 2.Game Became Overly Monetized: It's no secret that the game has become a blatant money grab. They changed features that used to offer free spins to now costing gems, starting at 100 gems. 3.Excessive Ads: It's practically an adware game. I had to enable adguard DNS just to avoid the constant bombardment of ads. 4.Annoying Matchmaking System: Skill-based matchmaking is terrible. I used to be able to win games easily, but now it's frustratingly difficult. 5.Destruction of Old Clan System: They ruined the old clan system, which I actually liked, and focused on a simpler raid system. 6.Overpowered Weapons: There are weapons in the game that are clearly overpowered, no need for further explanation. 7.Lack of Enjoyment: Simply put, the game stopped being fun compared to others. 8.Potential for Return: I might consider playing again if they reintroduce the campaign or bring back old maps like the Aircraft Carrier and the old Toy Factory map. I remember enjoying hard scoping with the Anti-Hero Sniper and the Ghost Lantern. Good times.
Remember that they made an addition that made it to where you had to have TICKETS to play matches and they refilled over time unless you paid for them. That was very very quickly removed
It's really a shame. A few days ago I was looking for some more mobile games to download, and remembered Pixel Gun 3d. Man did I love that game like 6-9 years ago. But when I downloaded it, all my guns were practically useless. I mean unless you hit every single one of your shots, you practically have to magdump someone in order for them to die. It's ridicoulous. Not to mention the fact that they got rid of ANTS LIFE and who knows what other OG stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head. It's just not the same anymore.
aw i remember it. have no idea when exactly but i used to like it. i was a casual player so i don’t know what version it was and don’t remember elements of gameplay. but i remember it being pretty good. i was actually surprised by how good it was. i really liked the music in the menu. ah. the memories
I remember my immense joy of unlocking the mythical golden fiend from the chest and mowing down players Imagine my disappointment when I restarted and needed to collect 250 parts from that chest in order to obtain it
Oh man the prototype. I remember when I first got that weapon I had so much fun trying to shoot people through walls. Then i stopped playing for a lil while and then got back into it to find it took 3... to 4... headshots or something like that to kill someone, making it useless. Man the game got so unfun, it always felt like that new gun you finally managed to obtain put you right into matches that made it incredibly underpowered
I remember back in 2017 when my friend told me to play this game and I just dont wanted to but after a few weeks I went to the doctor (the father of my friend) and we stay a few hours playing there, I remember it so well because is one of my favourites records. Since that moment i began to play Pixel Gun 3D and words aren´t enough to say how many nostalgia gives me that game and how i loved it for so many time. I still remember the old and classic menu of the "school" with the flag with a gun on it, It´s really heartbroken see how the game went to a massive decay since the battle pass, I can´t express how sad does this makes me feel even up to today
I am an OG player, in around 2016 or 2018 (don’t know due to me quitting the game due to Pay to win) there was a major update to the game and I got a notification that all my guns where to underpowered for my level due to me never spending a penny on the game. So the game automatically leveled up my guns. I believe there was an anniversary event once where when I logged in, and the game gifted me with loads of coins and gems. Before the game updated, the prototype sniper was a one shot to all players and I finally got enough to buy it due to the gift. Sure enough, as soon as I when into battle, the gun was not a one shot anymore: 7:40

@@bruhgod123 Actually it didn't ruin the gameplay, in fact it served as an equaliser to contend against all of the low skill overpowered items that were added to the game such as the aimbot missiles, huge area damage weapons, and target slowdown weapons that made you a sitting duck. 3CS was strong but it took skill and allowed you to counter the low skill items. I remember I played this with my friends back in school, around 2018; we would gather on school recesses and play locally. The game was kinda pay to win even then. Missions were tedious and for a reward of one or very few coins, and a mildly good weapon was around 250+ coins, so it was extremely grindy. It pains me so much to see how the game has devolved so much into this p2w state, because I have a special place for it in my heart for all those times playing it with my friends :(
one thing i remember that was really annoying was the fact that ammo didn't refill after you respawned. I distinctly remember running out of ammo quickly and spending the rest of the game running around not able to use my guns

Thank you for covering this, I played pixel gun when it came out and loved it, but with 1 big update, I had my account wiped, uninstalled the game only to come back to a hollowed out game that was no longer remotely fun
I played from ~2014 to 2015. I used to mostly play the campaign at that time, and coming back to the Steam release a bit after made me realize how much the game has changed. The amount of microtransactions are INSANE.
I remember back as I played it for fun. I was only on the walking Fortresses map and basical was a sniper, knowing the map by hard and navigating it literally blind. I know exactly where to shot, which places are good for aiming without getting shot instantly and even which walls aren't bullet proof or where the grafic did not matched the mashes. In fact, I have some really good memories on literally winning some matches with like 60 kills on my count. The red laser sniper rifle was my wapon of choice, also used jet pack some times. But that was all. I remember how great the rifle was back the day. Then I paused for like 2 or 3 years, only to come back to this. Guns had infinity level ups now, there where damage boni upgrades to modify wapons with and all this stuff. The game shuffed a battlepass in my face like I would care about it. I wanted to play, only to see my beloved map removed. In the first match, I was faced with people walking around with stuff I never saw before. Gadgets and pets all over the place. People shot me through walls and meleed me one hit like in a cracked CoD match. I tried to play it for some days, but I was basically done with the game.
I remember playing Pixel gun when I was like 6-7 yrs old. I still remember fear from zombie/slenderman levels. Remember when I was trying to beat arena and when I found Island mode with that music... Times when I didn't even had friends and couldn't stay long somewhere to start calling it "home". Bittersweet nostalgic feeling
Still remember those dasy... I am proud that I never spent a dime on this game yet still have almost maxed meta weapons. I still play from time to time, just to see what changed. I agree with you, but another thing to consider is the skill of the players. Playing withouth clavgrip is almost undoable and even I a decent clawgrip player get 3cat spammed out of oblivion often. The p2w weapons added encourage this gameplay and thats the main part why it doesnt feel the same anymore.
man i used to love this game to death.. i got into it super early on, like back before the singleplayer campaign was a thing and the only gamemode was arena survival against waves of monsters, the only guns available being a basic pistol, shotgun, and assault rifle (i think i also remember a revolver in the game around that time but this was forever ago so idfk). being there to see the game evolve was awesome; i really miss replaying the campaign over and over to find all the secret coins, running around that giant kitchen map and flipping out when i kept getting one-shot by someone camping with the prototype, flinging myself across maps with the gravity gun, and stressing out in the hunger games mode when there was only me and one other player left alive (i don't think i ever won one of those lol) i did eventually decide to come back around when they added the second chapter to the campaign and sentries and mechs to multiplayer; it wasn't as fun as before but i still enjoyed myself... then a good few years pass, i get nostalgic and redownload the game, and i can't even bring myself to get past how damn cluttered and annoying the main menu is. on the rare occasion i scroll through the play store i'll see the game and check in on what bs they've shoved into it now, and every time it just gets more and more depressing and flat out mind-numbing also one very specific thing i remember abt pixel gun is that those red spider-demon-person-things from the singleplayer campaign used to scare the shit out of me lmao, iirc the monster models were super blocky at first but were eventually updated to be a tad more detailed and that hellspawn's updated model triggered the fuck out of my arachnophobia at the time

anyone remember drive ahead? played that every single day of middle school, held tournaments, grinded the story mode, unlocked so many cars and even dipped into the hot wheels dlc. the fun of the game was that even with the biggest and higher tier cars you could lose the game if anything so much as grazed your head. loot boxes came along but they didn’t really matter. i come back after a few years hoping to re100% the story mode to find it and pretty much everything else from the old menu is gone. the loot boxes now give parts of cars rather than actual ones or the universal car parts they used to have. the single player menu(most of the old game) is mostly gone. but the real thing that ruins it is they threw out the one shot mechanic that made the game fun by adding a health bar. why? because they needed numbers they could tie to a leveling system for each car. there’s a bunch of other stuff but ima leave it at tldr: they removed the foundational mechanic of the game for money
I was a very early player, around 2014 I grinded the game on my iPad, at the time the best guns were the prototype and the peacemaker. I lost that account but when I restarted on a new device in 2015 I played on and off and eventually got some OP weapons. I remember getting the rarest weapons at the time from the chests, mainly the golden friend. If I remember correctly they used to have a customizable lobby back then which gave you buffs, and playing clan gamemodes was crazy fun back then. I played a bit this year but realized almost all my stuff is completely useless...
I have spent over 300 dollars total on Pixel Gun 3D. The last time I spent money on the game was over 4 years ago when I was still an impressionable teen. Now, I look back and regret every cent I ever spent on it. I'm glad Pixel Gun is now being called out for its bullshit.
I genuinely think this video proved all the points stated, when I played I had a blast, completely F2P, could get the occasional battle pass with the free coupons which I found was super nice, as it wasn't breakneck bad for grinding to obtain. I found a strategy once I reached Max level that allowed me to get on average 2 mythical weapons a week, and it was super easy. After enough time I was banned for a year as the devs thought I had an external software to get more gems and keys, but no, the only external software I had was a recording software so I could see if I could improve anything. I was livid and appealed for a unban, which I attained, for about a week, but when I restarted my grind with the recording device active, the 2nd game I played ended early when I got booted and banned, PERMANENTLY. So I have taken a vow to never continue this predatory game unless you have a P2W addiction

I recently came back to pixel gun 3d for the PC release. I briefly enjoyed it until yesterday when the spark died out again as I realized how I'm basically spending hours grinding for arbitrary things that aren't affecting my loadout or gameplay at all. Like "oh cool I got a super chest in the lottery, now I have a shitty mythical weapon that can't compete" or "oh cool my clan won the war again, time to get a tiny amount of parts for the crystal division weapons" or "oh cool I completed 30 calendar challenges on the battle pass" etc etc.
I've known pixel gun 3D for over 10 years now. For the first 4-5 years of playing I never felt this monotonous sense of grinding. Who knows, maybe it's because I was a kid and anything could keep me entertained. The early days were great, before gems the game was amazing. When gems came into play, things incrementally started becoming more p2w, but not enough that the game was unplayable. I still had a blast and would continue to for years to come. Back then the meta for grinding was to hop on co-op survival since most people were absolute bots or play deadly games when you still could keep full armor and stuff during matches. Automatic peacemaker was the GOAT primary, prototype UP2 was an iconic sniper, and who could forget the ever hanging meta of OP heavy weapons. Anti gravity blaster, laser mini gun, dragon breath, ghost lantern, toy blaster, and so much more. Eventually they added the "special" category which split apart some guns that used to all be "snipers". They added the earliest addition of loot boxes where you could get weapons like the golden friend, candy baton, spark shark, though it was exceedingly rare and fun when it happened. The most important thing in this era though was the actual gameplay:
-There was a large variety of maps with fun music and gimmicks
-Most people were casuals which made combat enjoyable, 3 cat spam was in very early days which made it pretty rare and the most annoying players were just OP weapon spammers, which honestly is still better than modern day gameplay
-the few different categories were all playable and fun, rather than today's clusters of boring categories mixed with the few originals.
Eventually I just grew out of the game, not necessarily because it was bad, just other things (mainly Roblox parkour games) caught my eye and took over interest. Though in ~2020-2021 I did slowly make my first return to the game. Seeing the state of the game was shocking to say the least. Battle royale, new clan system, tournaments and trophy systems, new lotteries and similar gambling style things to get "parts" for weapons, etc. It was overwhelming to say the least. Now the max level was 65, so I spent a while grinding to max level and noticed the new upgrade system and module system which was pretty annoying and definitely seemed p2w. Despite all this, I stayed with the game because it was still fun to play. Learning to 3 cat spam was a fun process, I'll admit it's quite an interesting dynamic. There were new maps for me to explore, though I was a bit sad to see them traded out with the old nostalgic ones. I grinded for well over a year to get all the clan weapons and gadgets up to golden division (the max at the time) and became a part of a top 100 clan with Drot (the TH-camr) and was an officer in his clan for a while. Honestly I was pretty damn good at the game and could compete against waterfall players (the best clan at the time). I gathered quite a large amount of weapons and resources, but eventually felt trapped in repetition. Every season a new set would come out with OP weapons that would get nerfed the next update and it felt hopeless to try and keep up with the meta at the top. I took a "vacation" and never came back. That was it, pixel gun was ruined for me. Casual gameplay couldn't exist, and competitive play was becoming too repetitive.
Then a few months ago I see "Announcing pixel gun 3D for steam, coming Q1 2024" on my TH-cam feed and memories flooded me. I've been lurking in the background until it finally released, hoping things would've changed. Nope. All my previously competitive weapons are decent at best, gameplay is still repetitive as hell, and clan grinding isn't any better. To make matters worse the map selection is god awful. There's like 10 maps total I feel like, and they're all either OG maps that get boring after a while or newer maps that have no soul. The parallels to gambling are stronger than ever, blocks crash is the only consistent way to get keys because you'll get 52 kills solo in team fight and lose by 30 kills because your team is feeding the enemies, deathmatch is a chaotic mess of different effects, gadgets, and people flying everywhere spamming different guns. I miss the old days, it genuinely hurts to see the state of this game. It's like watching your best friend slowly turn into an arrogant douchebag. :(

They used to charge that much for one weapon, the Storm Hammer, which at the time of release was an instant one-shot AOE weapon everyone at the top levels had. That's when it truly became P2W. You either had to shell out a disproportionate amount of money for a single weapon or download a modded APK.

PG3D used to be the only game I would play as a child. I still remember when I hit level 38 (the maximum at the time) or that one time where I managed to snag an antihero rifle during the gun trial where you could buy leg weapons for cheap, or when I saved gems for a year straight to buy myself a laser minigun (the best heavy weapon at a time where leg weapons could only be bought with gems).
I used to be proud of how I owned 4 mythics as a f2p player and still managed to dominate my friends who spend money on the game.
I used to be proud of how I could always place in top10 of the highest trophy bracket.
Yet the trophy bracket system began expanding. From adamantine at 3.6k to champion at 4.8k to eventually legend at 6.5k (i dont remember the exact values for champ/legend, it's been too long), the upper bound for trophy brackets kept going up.
Yet still I could best the top spenders with skill and experience that all the newer p2w players didnt have.
But eventually, I began to start noticing the p2w incentives the devs were starting to sneak into the game, starting with the anti-champion rifle (reskin of antihero but mythic) and with the introduction of lootboxes. I kept playing for a bit, but each update kept whittling away a portion of my incentive to play, until, I quit entrely.
2 years later, I booted up the game out of curiosity. And what a shock it was.
Useless junk cluttering the homescreen, ads popping out of nowhere all the time, battle passes and modules and whatnot.
Even the armour that had been accompanying me for years was now merely rare quality, despite my having sunk tens of thousands of coins into it.
However, the final straw was when I looked down the map list. The devs had removed a large portion of maps, including parkour city 3019 (idk exact name) which was my favourite at the time.
I have never looked back since then.
I haven't thought about this game once in the past two years, until this video appeared in my recommended just now.
There are so many happy memories that I associated with this game, and it disgusts me to see it in the state it is in right now.
It dissapoints me that whenever I think about all those memories it makes it all the more clearer that the game devs clearly don't give a shit.
PG3D's devs have done an injustice to it's community; they have commited a sin that has ruined the childhood memories of many.
They took a perfectly good game and ruined it for the sake of profit whilst completely shitting on long-time vets like me.
PG3D was so much more than just a game to me.
And it exactly for this reason which is why I will never forgive Cubic Games for what they did.

I remember a couple years ago when I was on their discord and said that “the game is pay to win and the weapons are too overpowered, the weapons should be more balanced” and most people responded to it by saying “that’s a terrible idea because half the community will hate the balance changes and leave”
As a free to play player of pg3d since the game came out. I can agree on 90% of the opinions you stated about this game. Like other games copying and dying. But as for it being unplayable. That completely up to the person playing it. I play this game because I know every corner and lore and history of this game. It truly makes me happy more than any other game in this life. I see pay to win and hackers (You forgot to mention hackers) I see them as a challenge. You can still kick hacker and p2w butt in matches and still grind the game to get everything you need to feel the power of this game. Great video though. @@TheCryingSnowman i mean i already gave them a good idea for a matchmaking system that basically asigns a value for different categories of weapons (Not the categories we have ingame but based on fairness-factor like a category for pulling weapons for example). The sum of the asigned values of every weapon equipped in a players loadout will then be compared to players having similar sums and thus will result in a fair matchmaking because you can actively choose if you would want to face an opponent with pulling weapons or not. Simply change the assigned value of the typically abused pulling weps (gift stealer, pulling gun, vgd) to a super high amount, thus having only players with pulling weps face other players with pulling weps. With this the devs would just need to create more categories for the rest of cancer weapons (e.g. op shotguns) and you would have the unfair type of matchmaking fixed. And If they really want to go crazy they could do the same for module levels too to make it even fairer and prevent good players from abusing this new system by only equipping noob weapons thus having a lower sum of values leading to a face-off against worse players with worse weapons.
And personally i dont have a problem with toxic players because i turned chat off

I was, and still am, 100% free to play.
It has been a goddamn struggle. From spending sleepless nights FIGHTING for the #1 spot on the leaderboard just to get 100 parts out 250 for a weapon that was weaker than my current one, to spending hours creating skins and gradients and color palettes for them. No matter where i went in PG3D i had to absolutely fight for my goddamn life if i wanted to win. And you better believe i did. ALWAYS team deathmatch. Sometimes that teammate who always comes in to save your bacon is worth not getting first place, just so you can survive a bit longer.
I beat the entire campaign with 3 stars. The last world is NO JOKE. Any boss that can teleport or can shoot projectiles is incredibly difficult. If Slender forest or In the Code's bosses shot projectiles, i'd have been toast. Silent school i only beat due to a bug, hilariously.
Once i had annihilated team deathmatch, i retreated into arena, where i now play for score, not glory.
These zombies are my only companions, no matter how many times i gun them down with my peacemaker, which i refuse to ever get rid of.
Glory to the Fallen Syndicate, whose members are now only me. Glory to the gatling gun i wield, whose steel barrels carried me to victory countless times. Glory to the newbie, myself.

I agree with the peak being mid 2018 in terms of variety, player base etc. The most fun era definitely was 2013-2015 tho. 2016 was also pretty great but there was a noticeable slight downfall for sure.
For sure, 2013-2015 was the most balanced era in gameplay and wasn't pay to win, 2016-2018 was when things got p2w but that was also when the community was at its peak and you could get everything without paying by account sharing, then 2019 had a huge banwave and cod mobile was released so the game had a slow and painful downfall after that
1- I really agree with the optimization part, I'm a f2p player and the lag is terrible, I play at like 9 or 15 fps, suffering with p2w weapons (literally on Black Friday they added an OP weapon that costs like 2k more or less diamond)
2 - My keyboard took 2 minutes to open in a game to talk in chat xd
3 - There is no way to compare Pixel Gun with Free Fire

For me the game is not necessarily a pay2win but an add2win at the moment. The game turned into a movie. I see a lot of my free2play friends from my clan who watch a lot of in-game ads, for example, just with the daily ads you get 420 gems per week just by watching every day. In addition, the devs have added an offer of 150 gems per week if we look at 30 ads if we add the fact that we can have 1 weapon without a player for 1 month Just by watching 560 ads a month. It's sad for the players who really play. I've been playing for 3 years on my new account, I got my first mityque at level 47 (Sneaky pistol) and a member of my clan almost never plays. Just by watching commercials, he already has 4 mythic at LEVEL 5. That's ridiculous. It's sad that the game has become a rotten cinema for me. Great video my Great video my friend

I recently returned to PG3D. And of course it’s pay to have a fair chance in a lobby.
But messing around with some of the new perks on weapons has completely caught me.
Overshield on reload, invis on reload, rockets with DoTs.
Melees that have Dash.
I’m having just as much fun now compared to 2016-2018 with Prototype wall banging.
My biggest issue is that (if not max lvl) you have to keep spending money to level up all of your gear just to keep having fun. Every 2 levels.
I DONT WANT TO BE MAX LEVEL. I enjoy the 30s-40s lobbies. Not as sweaty.
There is a sweet spot that must be preserved as long as possible while playing.
*Ive found myself dropping 20-30kills per game and leaving right as there is 5 secs left. Just to not level up and make my guns/armor useless.

I remember back in 2014, all I had was my crappy nokia windows phone and it didn't have a lot of good games for it, except pixel gun. During the entire year I played through the entire campaign and online as well, I had so much fun. It breaks my heart to see that Cubic Games just grabbed a gun and shot the game in the back of the head in an alley by making it so dog awful

There were viable alternatives to 3CS back in the 3CS peak, it's just that most players didn't understand the meta and best counters to 3CS, I'm saying this as one of the first ever 3CS players myself
As a person who played since before gems were added until like late 2016/early 2017, its hurts me that cubic games absolutely massacred the masterpiece of a game that was one of the highlights of my childhood. RIP Pixed Gun 3d 2013-2019, after 2019 it couldn't really be considered "pixel gun" anymore.
That last part really hit for me. I played PG3D so much back when I was around 7 or 8 years old, in elementary school. I really want to get back into it now that it’s on PC, but it’s clear that it’s just not the same game anymore :(
I was playing around 2016 and I got lucky seeing the red flags of the game. As soon as an update dropped you had to go for the latest weapons to compete, there was no upgrade system. The reward in coins and gems was so abysmal around that time, being like 12 coins a match at the top of the leaderboard and gems that was a rare occurrence.

I used to play this game back when it was a paid game many years ago and enjoyed it. Though my enjoyment of the game ended when they added armor to the game and I hated it. That’s when I knew they were heading down a dark path. What surprised me though is how long they took to absolutely fill it to the brim with microtransactions along with every monetization tactic known to man.
I came to Australia in 2013, had little friends as I couldn’t speak English. Just like you said, pixel gun was also my only friend. I grinded it, and I got damn good too. One day in 2016 I was playing duels and I somehow versed the leader of the best clan in the game at the time (star lord) and he invited me in. I was given a community and a home and something my young self could work for. And at the time the game had a beautiful clan weapon system, where if you managed to be in a good enough clan you had access to the best weapons in the game, such as the black mamba. It made my life heaven. Eventually, I witnessed the downfall of this game first hand. With the introduction of exoskeletons, which were immensely broken and the only way to manage to get them without HUNDREDS of hours of grinding was micro transactions. This was the beginning of the end. After this they continued this system they used for exoskeletons for literally every new op item, and I was forced to quit, as my skill level which was quite literally world class still couldn’t manage to beat someone using a new season item they paid for. Playing this game between 2014-2017 was possibly one of the most joyful parts of my life. Heartbreaking to see what it’s become. It truly shows a message to not let greed consume you
I was there. I played it daily on my phone. I was actually a really good sniper and threat to the entire enemy team. I realised there were many new things added and i couldn't keep up with it. I got bad really quickly

I used to play from 2017 to around 2020. I simply got bored of the constant grind and already had a hiatus a few months before i quit and when i returned in like december of 2022 to check out the game all i was met with was ads and even more pay to win stuff. I had the time of my life during that 3 years but eventually got burned out and now this husk of its past self isn't something too welcoming to me now.
What's worse as a pc lover and player the crossplay is a bad idea because it sill be very unfair to mobile players
The base building was so peak. I remember me and my cousins would each have our own bases that were all so unique. It was cool to see high ranked player’s bases and to progress from the barren desert to a water fall.
Then it just disappeared one day and there were 0 refunds
PG3D started to die when they added gems as a currency
The games downfall in terms of balance started when that happened but the peak of the community was actually within the next 2 years after gems got added until the Devs started banning people for getting all the guns for free since the game was p2w and that was the real start of its death

The saddest part is the developers just don't care. You'll see people give criticism in their Discord, their Twitter, their IG, you name it. Whoever runs their socials is just gonna shoot you down and call you "rude" or call out the smallest flaw in your logic. How professional. Instead of taking what people say, the people who SUPPORT you say, let's get defensive and ignore them. I have no intent to support developers who are greedy to the point where they see their players as ATM's that aren't worth taking seriously.

The reasons why I quit Pixel Gun 3D almost 2 to 3 years ago:
1.Poor Optimization: Recently downloaded it on my mid-range phone (Realme 5 Pro) and it's incredibly laggy. Surprisingly, my phone can handle COD Mobile and PUBG at high settings with better performance. During 2019-2020, it worked fine, but now it's laggy, especially in large Battle Royale matches (used a Samsung A10 during that time). Borrowed a friend's Huawei Y9 and it could run BR easily. Even on a low-end phone from 2016 (Samsung J3 2016), it managed around 30 FPS and was enjoyable.
2.Game Became Overly Monetized: It's no secret that the game has become a blatant money grab. They changed features that used to offer free spins to now costing gems, starting at 100 gems.
3.Excessive Ads: It's practically an adware game. I had to enable adguard DNS just to avoid the constant bombardment of ads.
4.Annoying Matchmaking System: Skill-based matchmaking is terrible. I used to be able to win games easily, but now it's frustratingly difficult.
5.Destruction of Old Clan System: They ruined the old clan system, which I actually liked, and focused on a simpler raid system.
6.Overpowered Weapons: There are weapons in the game that are clearly overpowered, no need for further explanation.
7.Lack of Enjoyment: Simply put, the game stopped being fun compared to others.
8.Potential for Return: I might consider playing again if they reintroduce the campaign or bring back old maps like the Aircraft Carrier and the old Toy Factory map.
I remember enjoying hard scoping with the Anti-Hero Sniper and the Ghost Lantern. Good times.
Remember that they made an addition that made it to where you had to have TICKETS to play matches and they refilled over time unless you paid for them. That was very very quickly removed

It's really a shame. A few days ago I was looking for some more mobile games to download, and remembered Pixel Gun 3d. Man did I love that game like 6-9 years ago. But when I downloaded it, all my guns were practically useless. I mean unless you hit every single one of your shots, you practically have to magdump someone in order for them to die. It's ridicoulous. Not to mention the fact that they got rid of ANTS LIFE and who knows what other OG stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head. It's just not the same anymore.

Oh man the prototype. I remember when I first got that weapon I had so much fun trying to shoot people through walls. Then i stopped playing for a lil while and then got back into it to find it took 3... to 4... headshots or something like that to kill someone, making it useless. Man the game got so unfun, it always felt like that new gun you finally managed to obtain put you right into matches that made it incredibly underpowered
I remember back in 2017 when my friend told me to play this game and I just dont wanted to but after a few weeks I went to the doctor (the father of my friend) and we stay a few hours playing there, I remember it so well because is one of my favourites records. Since that moment i began to play Pixel Gun 3D and words aren´t enough to say how many nostalgia gives me that game and how i loved it for so many time. I still remember the old and classic menu of the "school" with the flag with a gun on it, It´s really heartbroken see how the game went to a massive decay since the battle pass, I can´t express how sad does this makes me feel even up to today

there was a major update to the game and I got a notification that all my guns where to underpowered for my level due to me never spending a penny on the game. So the game automatically leveled up my guns.
I believe there was an anniversary event once where when I logged in, and the game gifted me with loads of coins and gems. Before the game updated, the prototype sniper was a one shot to all players and I finally got enough to buy it due to the gift. Sure enough, as soon as I when into battle, the gun was not a one shot anymore: 7:40

@@bruhgod123 Actually it didn't ruin the gameplay, in fact it served as an equaliser to contend against all of the low skill overpowered items that were added to the game such as the aimbot missiles, huge area damage weapons, and target slowdown weapons that made you a sitting duck. 3CS was strong but it took skill and allowed you to counter the low skill items.
On top of this, you could counter 3CS with other techniques such as using movement to throw off the enemy, rocket jumping or also using 3CS and simply being the better player.
I remember I played this with my friends back in school, around 2018; we would gather on school recesses and play locally. The game was kinda pay to win even then. Missions were tedious and for a reward of one or very few coins, and a mildly good weapon was around 250+ coins, so it was extremely grindy. It pains me so much to see how the game has devolved so much into this p2w state, because I have a special place for it in my heart for all those times playing it with my friends :(

I played from ~2014 to 2015. I used to mostly play the campaign at that time, and coming back to the Steam release a bit after made me realize how much the game has changed. The amount of microtransactions are INSANE.

i can remember back in 2018, after i came home from school and i asked my cousin and brother if they wanted to play pixel gun. miss those times.
I remember back as I played it for fun. I was only on the walking Fortresses map and basical was a sniper, knowing the map by hard and navigating it literally blind.
I know exactly where to shot, which places are good for aiming without getting shot instantly and even which walls aren't bullet proof or where the grafic did not matched the mashes. In fact, I have some really good memories on literally winning some matches with like 60 kills on my count.
The red laser sniper rifle was my wapon of choice, also used jet pack some times. But that was all. I remember how great the rifle was back the day.
Then I paused for like 2 or 3 years, only to come back to this. Guns had infinity level ups now, there where damage boni upgrades to modify wapons with and all this stuff. The game shuffed a battlepass in my face like I would care about it. I wanted to play, only to see my beloved map removed. In the first match, I was faced with people walking around with stuff I never saw before. Gadgets and pets all over the place. People shot me through walls and meleed me one hit like in a cracked CoD match.
I tried to play it for some days, but I was basically done with the game.
I remember playing Pixel gun when I was like 6-7 yrs old. I still remember fear from zombie/slenderman levels. Remember when I was trying to beat arena and when I found Island mode with that music... Times when I didn't even had friends and couldn't stay long somewhere to start calling it "home". Bittersweet nostalgic feeling

I agree with you, but another thing to consider is the skill of the players. Playing withouth clavgrip is almost undoable and even I a decent clawgrip player get 3cat spammed out of oblivion often. The p2w weapons added encourage this gameplay and thats the main part why it doesnt feel the same anymore.
man i used to love this game to death.. i got into it super early on, like back before the singleplayer campaign was a thing and the only gamemode was arena survival against waves of monsters, the only guns available being a basic pistol, shotgun, and assault rifle (i think i also remember a revolver in the game around that time but this was forever ago so idfk). being there to see the game evolve was awesome; i really miss replaying the campaign over and over to find all the secret coins, running around that giant kitchen map and flipping out when i kept getting one-shot by someone camping with the prototype, flinging myself across maps with the gravity gun, and stressing out in the hunger games mode when there was only me and one other player left alive (i don't think i ever won one of those lol)
i did eventually decide to come back around when they added the second chapter to the campaign and sentries and mechs to multiplayer; it wasn't as fun as before but i still enjoyed myself... then a good few years pass, i get nostalgic and redownload the game, and i can't even bring myself to get past how damn cluttered and annoying the main menu is. on the rare occasion i scroll through the play store i'll see the game and check in on what bs they've shoved into it now, and every time it just gets more and more depressing and flat out mind-numbing
also one very specific thing i remember abt pixel gun is that those red spider-demon-person-things from the singleplayer campaign used to scare the shit out of me lmao, iirc the monster models were super blocky at first but were eventually updated to be a tad more detailed and that hellspawn's updated model triggered the fuck out of my arachnophobia at the time

anyone remember drive ahead? played that every single day of middle school, held tournaments, grinded the story mode, unlocked so many cars and even dipped into the hot wheels dlc. the fun of the game was that even with the biggest and higher tier cars you could lose the game if anything so much as grazed your head. loot boxes came along but they didn’t really matter. i come back after a few years hoping to re100% the story mode to find it and pretty much everything else from the old menu is gone. the loot boxes now give parts of cars rather than actual ones or the universal car parts they used to have. the single player menu(most of the old game) is mostly gone. but the real thing that ruins it is they threw out the one shot mechanic that made the game fun by adding a health bar. why? because they needed numbers they could tie to a leveling system for each car. there’s a bunch of other stuff but ima leave it at

I was a very early player, around 2014 I grinded the game on my iPad, at the time the best guns were the prototype and the peacemaker. I lost that account but when I restarted on a new device in 2015 I played on and off and eventually got some OP weapons. I remember getting the rarest weapons at the time from the chests, mainly the golden friend.
If I remember correctly they used to have a customizable lobby back then which gave you buffs, and playing clan gamemodes was crazy fun back then. I played a bit this year but realized almost all my stuff is completely useless...

I have spent over 300 dollars total on Pixel Gun 3D. The last time I spent money on the game was over 4 years ago when I was still an impressionable teen. Now, I look back and regret every cent I ever spent on it. I'm glad Pixel Gun is now being called out for its bullshit.
I genuinely think this video proved all the points stated, when I played I had a blast, completely F2P, could get the occasional battle pass with the free coupons which I found was super nice, as it wasn't breakneck bad for grinding to obtain. I found a strategy once I reached Max level that allowed me to get on average 2 mythical weapons a week, and it was super easy. After enough time I was banned for a year as the devs thought I had an external software to get more gems and keys, but no, the only external software I had was a recording software so I could see if I could improve anything. I was livid and appealed for a unban, which I attained, for about a week, but when I restarted my grind with the recording device active, the 2nd game I played ended early when I got booted and banned, PERMANENTLY. So I have taken a vow to never continue this predatory game unless you have a P2W addiction
